To
the North Americans and most of the Internet sites, Mamoru is also fondly
known as Darien Shields (I really like his English name!). But for the
fun of it, I would like to tell you another name of this international
heart throb.
In my country, Malaysia, the Sailormoon episodes are shown in Cantonese, and Mamoru is called TEI CHONG WAI (pronounciation: TEI rhymes with "way", CHONG rhymes with "song" and WAI rhymes with "why". In the manga (translated into Mandarin), our hero is called TI CHANG WEI. Wanna know how to pronounce THAT? It's easy, and it also sounds classy! TI rhymes with "Tee", CHANG rhymes with "stung" (the bee stung the boy..), and WEI sounds like "way". So, how does Darien's name sound like? Try it a few times. It sounds really classy! ~_^! Anyway, this is just to show the extent of his popularity as well as the Sailormoon series! Mamoru is SO POPULAR, there are many names for him in different languages all around the world! The
meaning of his Chinese name is quite close to the Japanese meaning, which
is "Protector Of Earth". *dreamy sigh *... Gets the message across pretty
well, right?

HAIR:
Could
Naoko please tell me what brand of shampoo Mr. Chiba uses?! The guy's hair
is perfectly smooth and jet-black. His hair volume is certainly another
plus-point. AND he has a short, clean cut-- a typical gentleman. There
are times when his hair seems a tad too long for students to have, but
I assume that it's still alright, since he is a school *prefect himself.
I just shudder in delight whenever the wind blows through Mamoru's hair,
both in Manga and Anime.
However,
there was a scene in Sailormoon SuperS, in which Mamoru gave Usagi a phone
call after he took a bath. That profile shot of him was stunning! Wet and
damp hair, and what's more, it was ruffled and messy! His hair certainly
looks good when wet.... ~_^
* Note the spelling, "p-r-e-f-e-c-t". It is not "school perfect", which isn't even grammatically correct! A school prefect is a student who is granted the trust and responsibility of maintaining order in the school, acting as a leader of the normal students, helping students and teachers, and is basically regarded as a role model for the benefit of other students. The Prefectorial Board (which consists of the elected prefects) is practised in Malaysia (of course, my own country!), Singapore, Japan (of course! Mamoru!), most Asian countries, and Britain, which this whole prefect thing was created.
UPPER BODY:
This
includes his hands and arms, his chest, and *ahem* his abdomen. Mamoru
is more towards the lean and muscular, like Chinese kung-fu legend, Bruce
Lee-- his broad shoulders and well-defined chest taper off into a slim
waist. In the manga, there are quite a few shots of Mamoru without any
shirt on, and despite being only a young man, he has well-toned biceps
and chest muscles. In the anime (Sailormoon R), Usagi bumped into Mamoru
while he was having his morning run. In that episode, Mamoru wore a sleeveless
shirt, and it revealed his muscular and strong arms. Abdominal muscles?
So far, you can see faint lines on his abdomen (it was sighted in the manga),
but it looked faint because Mamoru was transforming into Tuxedo Mask. Without
the bright light during that transformation sequence, his abdominal muscles
would certainly be more prominent. ~_^
This
also applies to Prince Endymion. You have got to be very strong just to
yield a sword like that, and also wear that heavy-looking armour all the
time! *grin*
As for
King Endymion, it was said that the bodies of all the Silver Millennium
people remained the same after the establishment of Crystal Tokyo. Therefore,
I assume King Endymion's body is the same as before, perhaps even better..
*grin* However, I was horrified to see that in the anime, the tuxedo he
wore gave an illusion that he was fat. Talk about bad drawing....
In general,
all you need to find out how strong the man is, is by seeing how he carries
Usagi whenever she needs him. <dreamy sigh>
LOWER BODY:
Ahh....
His legs are unending! :) Long, slender and powerful, his legs are an asset
to reach a place fast. We know that Mamoru runs swiftly, because in the
manga, whenever Tuxedo Mask (in the first volume) runs away, it is followed
by thin flowing lines, indicating the movement of a breeze. In the anime,
we can see that he jogs regularly, and that means that his legs are well
taken care of. *grin* 'Nuff said!
