Fushigi Yuugi, is a series that consists of 52 episodes and several OVA's. it focuses around Miaka who is a girl that has strangely become part of a story in a book. she discovers that she is a highly revered priestess. while in the story, she encounters several new friends and guardians to help her battle another priestess (Yuu, who happens to be her best friend) and her own guradians. there are several different relationships that develop and intertwine with each other as well as several sub-plots. there are a lot of comedic parts as well as serious and dramatic parts (espeically as the series goes on).
