Review: Magic Knight Rayearth
Magic Knight Rayearth, another series by Clamp (Card Captors, X/1999 and RG Veda), is a spectacular series. It's about three girls, Hikaru, Fuu and Umi who are called to another world, Cephiro, to save Princess Emaraude. The girls must become the legendary Magic Knights and save Cephiro from Zagato, a evil sorcerror. This is one of Clamps earlier series and is based (of course) on an excellent Manga. Though there are some minor changes from the Manga, this series fares well against the new wave of Anime out there.
The Art in the series is amazing and the animation is pretty good. Not what I expect from Clamp, but then again this is a comedy series. The Theme song got butchered when translated to English, but the theme song art is excellent. Mokona (The white bunny thing) is cuter than heck. The character development is what drives this series, because in Cephiro will power is everything. I recommend this series to everyone, especially Clamp and Shojo fans, though the characters go Chibi a lot. The only objectionable content is when the characters transform it shows them partially nude, like in Sailor Moon and the series has some violence. The series has a surprise ending, very unexpected.
