There are many misconceptions about the relationship between Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune. Most people say that they are just friends, but, as stated by the creator of Sailormoon, this is not so. Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune are probably the most dynamic romantic couple in anime. Michiru (Sailor Neptune) and Haruka (Sailor Uranus) have a beautiful relationship, like two true soulmates, and are readily referred to as each other's "girlfriend." Actually, when Haruka is first introduced, the inner senshi think she's a he and have massive crushes on "him". Haruka finds it very funny when she reveals to the inner senshi that she is not their dream-boy. The relationship between Haruka and Michiru is far more intense in the Manga than in the anime. I'm not too sure why that is. As you can see in my Uranus and Neptune Anime Gallery and Uranus and Neptune Manga Gallery , there are far more intimate pictures in the manga section than there are in the anime section. Haruka and Michiru, along with Sestuna (Sailor Pluto) take on the role of being parents to Hotaru Tomoe (Sailor Saturn) when she is a baby. The three of them have matching rings to signify their relationship as parents to the little girl. You should see Michiru teasing Haruka about forgetting to pick up diapers - it's hilarious!
Sadly, in the English translations of the anime, the beautiful relationship between the two senshi is hidden, and the two are made to be cousins. COUSINS!! I am not the only one that was enraged by this change. I have seen many Uranus and Neptune supporters who have put up seething articles about the Pioneer dub. Nevertheless, the true fans of Sailormoon know the truth about Uranus and Neptune, and I put this page up to make it known to those who do not follow the show as readily.
