Well, here we come to another one of my largest Poképeeves (right up there with height and last names) is the eternal question of how old everyone is! No one has ever given us any hard-core facts, just hints and little guesses! Makes me wanna hit something...
But before I do, I'll give you my theories and reasons for how old I think everyone is, and if you don't believe me, well, pooey to youey.
I'm sucha child ^_^
Ash- Doi, Ash is ten! Or, at least, he was when the series started ^_^; Assuming they don't age in the Pokémon world, then he still is ten. It's the only age we know for absolute CERTAIN! Bad directors!
Misty- In the manga, Toshiro Ono lets us on to the fact that Misty is twelve, and it seems reasonable so I'll stick to that. Personally, I think she seems just a little bit older, so if you asked me I'd say thirteen, but that's just me ^_^;
Brocko- This is one that's been debated to freakin' death! Eji of Brock-o-Rama says he's seventeen, but I dun think so. In the manga, he can drive, but he doesn't in the TV show so I think there might be a difference there. I say he's fifteen, and here's how I figure: Brock can't drive, but he's old enough so that his voice has changed. He's also JUST started to hit his growth spurt (seeing as how he's almost exactly between Ash and James), which to me says he's younger than sixteen (no driving) but older than thirteen (the voice and all). I doubt he's fourteen, so, tada, he's fifteen. ^_^
Tracey- Tracey is... well... he just is. He seems older than Misty, but younger than Brock 'cause his voice is still squeakish. That puts him somewhere between 12 and 15, so heck, I'll just go ahead and say 14
Gary- Here's one that everyone THINKS they know but don't really. Okay, Gary started his Pokéjourney at the same time Ash did, no da? So, that would technically make him ten too, right? WRONG. Remember folks: Gary can drive, which means he's AT LEAST sixteen. But wait, what about the journey thing?
Well, here's my theory. Gary's a lot smarter than Ash, and he seems to be pretty well read on the subject of pokees. Probably he decided to wait a while to start out on his little "quest;" stuck around at home, got some extra schoolwork in, studied so he'd be ready for the big battles. Which proves a good point: Gary will always be smarter than Ash! ^_^
Jessie and James- Save the best for last, baby! I put 'em together seeing as how they're more than likely the same age. This is an odd one, because there have been so many conflicting statements on their age. First off, on Nintendo's site they said they were twelve. TWELVE!? Okay, we all know that's a buncha poo. The other and far more popular "age" for our favorite Rocket couple is seventeen, because Jessie said that's how old she was on "The Ultimate Test." Lots of people (including meself) took that as a definite sign of the correct age and left it at that. In fact, most TR shrines will say that Jess and Jim are seventeen or eighteen.
Unfortunately, they're wrong. Sorry folks.
See, no matter what our dear American producers say, the truth all lies within the Japanese TV show- or rather, CD Drama. The Birth of Mewtwo CD Drama features Miyamato 20 years ago, and Jessie's already been born. At the very end of the Drama, Miyamato says (and I quote) "I am Miyamoto-chan. I won't give up. The daughter I left is almost a hag. I have already forgotten her face? Musashi? There's no loss in having too much money. Mew! Where are you?! After all, I, Miyamoto-chan will chase after the Phantom Pokemon everywhere, until the end of time! I'm going to do it!"
The word hag, or oban, is a term in Japan used to describe women over 24 and not married. This means that Jessie is somewhere between 21-24, which presumedly would mean that James is the same age. So, haha to WB, you're wrong and Japan is right! *Sticks tongue out again and glares*
What? You think I'm wrong? Well, fine then, what do YOU think about all this? Talk to me and I'll stick up what you said in here!
