Title: My Boyfriend's Back Disclaimer: I don't own Sailormoon, all characters and ideas belong to the wonderful Naoko-san. However, I do own the ideas for this story, please don't copy! * * * * * * * * It's been a year. One year since the defeat of Galaxia. One year since Mamoru returned to Harvard. And one year since the lights left. But today, three shining stars land on earth. Slowly, they materialize. And the famous trio has returned. * * * * * * * * Usagi opened the mailbox and frowned. Empty. Again, for the third time this week. And it was only Wednesday. Mamo-chan, why aren't you writing or calling? Usagi thought. Are you alright? Oh, where has my love gone?! Ring, Ring, Ring. "Hey! It's Mamoru, leave a message and I'll get back to you when I get the chance," automated Mamoru said in English. Of course Usagi had no clue what the automated Mamoru said, so she always just waited for the beep. "Mamo-chan!" Usagi said, voice bubbly and bright. "I was just calling to see how you were doing. And I was wondering if you were coming home soon. But, I guess you're not home...again. So, anyway, give me a call when you get this. Aishertu! Bai!" Usagi hung up the phone, her heart pounding. She breathed a heavy sigh. Was Mamoru ever going to be home? But little did she know, Mamoru had sat by the phone, faithfully listening to every one of her messages. And he never did pick up the reciver. * * * * * * * * "Hey Usa-chan! What can I get for you today?" Motoki asked as she entered the arcade. Usagi giggled. "No thanks, I'm broke. Demo, Motoki-chan, have you heard from Mamoru lately?" "Hai, actually, he returned one of my calls last night. Why?" Usagi frowned and sank into a stool. "I've called him like a hundred times, but he hasn't once returned my calls." Motoki looked uncomfortable. "Erm...well...maybe it got too late... and...uh-" "NANI?!" Usagi exclaimed, leaning in close, a pout on her face. Motoki sweatdropped. "Nothing, nothing at all. D-don't worry so much." "Has he-" Usagi started, saddened. But at that moment, Minako came running into the arcade, dragging three men with her. "I TOLD YOU SO!" she exclaimed. "I told you Unazuki-chan! They're back!" Unazuki let out a squeal of delight. "Can I have your autograph?" she asked, holding out a napkin and pen, eyes glistening. "Seiya?" Usagi asked, half out of shock, and half out of joy. "Odango?" "SEIYA!" she screamed, as if now just realizing who it was. She ran into his open arms and suddenly felt liek she was just a puddle on the floor. "What are you doing back?" "He missed you oh-so-much, and he dragged us two with him," Yaten said. "Oh shut it Yaten," Seiya scoled, still holding onto Usagi. "We actually missed all of you. Kakyuu was going to come, but she's about to have her first child." "Oh really?" Usagi asked, excited. "That's so cool!" Seiya smiled and nodded. "Say, why don't you call the girls and everyone can come over our house. We can catch up on old times and such." "OKAY!" Minako said, grabbing her wrist, forcing Usagi away from Seiya. "Come on Usa-chan! We've got to round everyone up!" * * * * * * * * And hour later, everyone was assembled at the Lights mansion, eating pizza and having the time of their lives. Usagi had shot Coke out of her nose twice, since she was laughing so hard. Awhile later, Chibiusa arrived, upset because no one had called her to hang out with the three famous boys. "Oi Usagi-chan, stop hanging all over Seiya like he was the last life preserver on a sinking ship," she said with a grin. This caused Usagi to blush and pull away quickly. Seiya mentally cursed Chibiusa. For the rest of the night, Usagi was hanging all over Seiya like he was the last life preserver on a sinking ship. This left all of the senshi confused. They hassled Chibiusa, trying to get her to tell them if something happens between the two in the future. However, all she would say was: "Puu-san told me not to tell you, so I'm not going to tell." This left the senshi sulking, as they wanted to know what was going on. After a few hours of reminscing, Ami stood. "Gomen nasai, but I must go, I've got three tests tomorrow, and I haven't even begun to look at what the bonus questions may be." Everyone sweatdropped, except for Taiki, who told her that he was glad that she was keeping up in her studies. Ami blushed, and left. A few minutes later, Makoto and Minako decided that they should probably leave as well and begin studying for the tests. They told Usagi that she should leave to, but she refused to leave Seiya's side. Chibiusa left with the two, only to the insisting of Usagi, as she didn't want her to stay out too late. Rei left about a half hour after that, and surprisingly, Yaten decided to walk her home. She gladly accepted the company, as it was Kou Yaten, and he was still an idol, and was still really cute. Taiki turned in after that, leaving Usagi and Seiya alone. Seiya began picking up the glasses and plates. He turned to Usagi. "Wanna help?" he asked. "Hai!" she said happily, taking the cups and plates from him. Once Seiya had cleaned up the cookies and other munchies, the two of them headed into the kitchen. Usagi began doing the dishes in silence, as Seiya put away the food. "So Usa-chan, what have you been up to?" There was silence for a minute, and then Usagi spoke. "Onegai, Seiya- chan, don't call me Usa." "Um alright," Seiya said, a little hurt. "Call me Odango," she said softly, drying the last cup and putting it away. "I like it when you call me Odango." "Odango, what's wrong? What happened?" She shook her head and turned to him, her eyes full of sadness. "Nothing happened, that's what's the matter," she whispered. A long silence followed before Usagi spoke up again. "I should go home." "I'll walk you," Seiya told her, grabbing their coats. * * * * * * * * Usagi awoke the next morning feeling quite dazed and confused. What had gotten over her last night? Why did she start hanging all over Seiya? Was it that she wanted to feel loved so badly now that Mamoru was gone, she didn't care who it was? Or was her love for Mamoru dying? She hugged her stuffed bunny close as silent tears trickled down her cheeks. Why was this happening? She was torn-Chiba Mamoru or Kou Seiya? They both had equal qualities, the eyes that draw her in, and the charmed smile. "Usagi-mama?" "Chibiusa-chan!" "What's wrong?" she asked, her ruby eyes full of concern. It wasn't like her to be so caring towards Usagi. But over the past few years, she had grown to respect Usagi, and love her just like the way she did in the future. "Nothing Chibiusa-chan, I'm fine, you don't want to develop my habits and be late to school," she said with a laugh. Chibiusa smiled weakly and turned to leave, but then stopped. "Don't worry Usagi-mamma, everything will work out," she told her with a reassuring smile. Usagi blinked a few times as she watched Chibiusa leave. Everything will be alright? Usagi thought. Now what did she mean by that? * * * * * * * * "Usagi!" Minako called. "Matte!" "Nani?" she asked aloud, turning to see Ami, Makoto, and Minako rushing toward her. "We're going to the arcade!" Makoto stated. "Wanna join us?" "Seiya-chan will be there!" Minako added. Usagi smiled weakly. "Iie, it's alright, I need to think some things through. Ja ne!" Ami frowned. "That's not like Usagi." Makoto nodded as she watched after Usagi. "You'd think she'd be excited, especially since last night and all." "Ne! Do you think something happened after we all left?" Ami shrugged. "It's probable." "Well the only way to find out is to ask Seiya himself!" Makoto declared, pounding her fist into her palm. "AI NO SENSHI!" Minako exclaimed, as the three ran off in the direction of the arcade. * * * * * * * * "MOTOKI-CHAN!" Minako cried, rushing into the arcade. "Motoki-chan! Give us the details!" Motoki sweatdropped. "Honestly Minako-chan, I haven't a clue what you're talking about." At that moment, Rei had entered, followed by Seiya, Taiki, and Yaten. "Hey girls!" Seiya greeted. He was instantly bombarded by a curious Minako. "Seiya-san! What happened last night, after we all left?" Seiya smiled and shook his head. "Absolutely nothing Minako-chan. Ne, where's Odango?" Makoto shrugged. "I dunno, she just said she needed to think about some things." Yaten looked at Seiya expectant. "Yeah, yeah, yeah go ahead, we all know you want to." "Ja ne!" Seiya said with a wave. Yaten hung his head in shame. Minako's jaw dropped and Makoto had to hold her back from racing after Seiya so she could be first to get the gossip. "Come on Minako-chan," Makoto said. "They've got a new racing game, wanna play?" Solemly, Minako nodded and the two of them commenced their game. * * * * * * * * Seiya found Usagi in the park, leaning against the railing, looking out at the shining lake, hugging her schoolbag to her chest. "Odango?" he asked, slowly approaching her. She didn't budge, her eyes were fixated on the distance. After a few minutes, Seiya decided she wanted to be left alone, so he turned to leave. "I always thought I would be in love with Mamoru," she said softly, still staring straight ahead. "Nani?" Seiya asked, turning back. She turned her head to the side, eyes halfway closed. "My whole life has been a lie. It's been based on an occurance that happened long ago." "Odango, what are you-" "I don't love Mamoru." Seiya's jaw dropped. "Odango, I don't think your thinking rationally. I'm-" "No, I'm thinking rationally alright," she said, her vision becoming cloudy, due to the tears that were threatening to fall. "Mamoru and I hated each other when we were reborn. And then, in a matter of minutes, all due to our memories returning, we were in love again? Just because of some poor decisions in the past, I was destined to love no other?" "Odango, I just think if you see him again-" "I'll be locked in a love that's going nowhere!" she cried out, turning around fulling, clenching her schoolbag to her tightly. "I'm scared," she said in a voice that was barely audible. "Scared? Odango, you're one of the bravest people I know, what are you scared of?" Seiya asked, a concerned look on his face. "The future," she said simply. "What!? Why?" "I love Chibiusa-chan to death!" she screamed, teardrops falling. "She can be quite the spore, but I love her anyway! Demo...I don't want to bear Mamoru's child! I want to bear yours! Seiya-chan!" Then, without thinking, her school bag clattered to the groung, and she rushed forward, pressing her lips to Seiya's. Seiya was taken aback. He was too shocked to even move. Usagi pulled away and studied his eyes. "Gomen nasai," she stammered before running off in the other direction, her things forgotten. Seiya stood there, paralyzed, touching a finger to his lips. * * * * * * * * Usagi returned to her house a mess. Her hair was every which way, and her faced a permanently in a frown. And the news she was about to walk in on was not going to make it better. Her answering machine was blinking, indicating that there was a new message. Cautiously, she pressed the button. "Usako! Hey! I'm sorry I haven't called, but I've been packing up to leave. See, spring break is here, and I'm coming back in for a week. I'd really love it if you were at the airport to greet me. Six tonight. Ja ne!" Usagi held her sides as a fresh batch of tears began to fall. She ran up to her bedroom and slammed the door. She buried her face in her pillow as she tried to collect herself. "Oh Kami...doushitte? Why does my heart ache so? Why did you send Seiya to me? Now my life is a mess..." Then, sensing that something was wrong, she sat up abruptly. "Mamo-chan...don't! Oh onegai!" she cried, running out back to the park. * * * * * * * * Six came, and Mamoru looked around for his love. Confused as to why he didn't see her bright face, he decided he should look around. "Mamoru-san?" a voice asked. "Ami-chan! Minako-chan? Makoto-chan? Rei-chan?!" The girls had gathered at the airport, thanks to Motoki telling them that Mamoru was coming home. "She's in the park, if you're looking for her." "You might want to hurry," Rei told him. "What? Why?" "Just go," Makoto said. Confused as ever, Mamoru did as he was told and raced for the park. "Do you think he'll make it?" Ami asked. "No," Minako said. "But at least we gave him a chance." * * * * * * * * A half hour later, Mamoru arrived at Arisu Memorial River Park, only to find Seiya there, picking up Usagi's things. "What are you doing here?" he growled. "And where's my Usako?" Seiya looked up in shock. "I'm here because you weren't. You hurt Usagi, more than you can ever fathom." "You didn't why you litte player! Don't you dare lay hands on my property!" he screamed in rage, lunging at Seiya and shoving him to the ground. "IIE!" Usagi cried, throwing herself in front of Mamoru. "IIE! STOP! ONEGAI!" "NO! I won't stand around and let this guy hurt my girl!" he said, trying to get past her. "Stop! Oh no! STOP!" she screamed in desperation, trying to keep him from Seiya. "Go away, why are you defending him?" "I LOVE HIM!" she screamed before clamping a hand over her mouth, realizing what she just said. "NO!" he screamed at the top of his lungs, eyes filled with anger. "MAMO-CHAN!" she cried, standing back, eyes trying to plead with him. "MOVE!" he told her, the palm of his hand meeting her cheek. Usagi gasped, and fell to the ground due to the force. There was silence, and Usagi began to weep. Mamoru move toward her, reaching a hand out. "Oh Usako, I'm so sorry I-" She scrambled away from his touch, burying her face in Seiya's chest. "Seiya-chan. Onegai, don't let him touch me," she whimpered. "Shh...it's alright, you're safe not. I won't, let him near you. He won't harm you again." Seiya promised, stroking her hair. Mamoru felt like his heart had been ripped from his chest and stomped on. Shooting a dirty look at Seiya, he turned and fled. "Aishertu Seiya-chan, aishertu. Onegai, don't leave me now." "I wouldn't dream of it. Aishertu zutto, Odango." And Seiya held Usagi close, cradling the broken girl. * * * * * * * * Mamoru was furious to say the least. On the day of his return, he had lost the person that was most dear to him, Usagi. His Usagi. What right did Kou Seiya have to steal the one girl who had shown him real love? The one girl who he spent eighteen years searching for. The love that survived, despite all odds. Mamoru decided it right then and there. Kou Seiya must die. Filled with long lasting resentment and a broken heart, he stormed toward the Hikjawa Temple. * * * * * * * * "Odango, are you sure you're alright?" Seiya asked once they were back at his place. Usagi was wrapped in a blanket, a solemn expression on her face. "You've barely said a word since you got here," Taiki pointed out. Usagi stared blankly ahead, as if fixated on something no one else could see. "Iie, I'm not okay," she whispered. "I'm scared-no-terrified." "Odango, Mamoru won't get you here, he can't. We won't let him in," Seiya told her, wrapping a protective arm around her shoulders. She fell into his embrace gladly. Yaten sighed, he was worried for the blonde. Of course he's never admit it, but his face showed it. "We need Kakyuu-hime here," he said. Taiki nodded in agreement. "She's much better at giving advice than we are." Yaten frowned. "But she's an expectant mother, we can't ask our princess to come." As if right on cue, there was a bright flash that materialized into Princess Kakyuu, carrying a small baby. "I am sorry for barging you in, but I just had to show you Princess Kaika," she said, a proud smile on her face. "I couldn't wait for the three of you to come back. Look." Taiki and Yaten jumped up to admire the child. Her big, red eyes looked up at them, and she blew a bubble. "Congratulations, Kakyuu-san," Usagi said softly. Kakyuu's eyes widened at the sight of the poor girl. "Usagi-san!" she exclaimed, sitting next to her. "What happened?" Usagi took a deep breath and explained the entire story. "And Kakyuu-san, I just love him so much. I don't want Mamoru to hurt him at all." Kakyuu frowned and she handed the baby to Seiya. "Boys, out," she said with a shudder, still not used to having her guardians being men. She then turned to Usagi, a smile on her face. "Everything happens for a reason. Usagi-san, you are one of the strongest people I know. No one possesses the power you have as a senshi, and as a person. You can get through this. Kami brought Seiya to you for a reason. Destiny isn't always as it seems. It twists and curves, taking you for the ride of your life." Usagi nodded, a smile finally escaping her lips. "Thank you Kakyuu-san, I appreciate it," she said before her face fell again. "Demo, what about Chibiusa? I mean, she is supposed to be the child of Mamoru and me." Kakyuu smiled again, and her eyes seemed to sparkle. "Like I said, destiny is not always as it seems. Enjoy your life now, while you can. Worry about the future when it comes." Usagi beamed. "Domo arigatou Kakyuu-san," she said, embracing the older woman. "I feel so much better." "I'm glad," Kakyuu said. "Now, I must be getting back with my little Kaika before everyone worries." Usagi nodded. "Ne, Kakyuu-san, who's the father?" Kakyuu's eyes twinkled. "That, my dear is a secret." * * * * * * * * "Mamoru-san!" Ami exclaimed. "Yes, Ami-chan, he is back, you saw him yourself," Rei said. "Iie, Mamoru-san!" The rest of the girls turned to see the raven haired man in the doorway. "How long has that little slut been dating Seiya?" Makoto frowned. "I know you aren't talking about Usagi." "Shutup and answer my question." "You're not being rational Mamoru. You're so green with envy that-" Minako started. "I told you to SHUT UP!" he screamed. "I just want my Usako back! And you're going to help me." The girls fell silent, none of them really wanted to help Mamoru, for they knew that Usagi was truly happy. "And what if we don't?" Ami asked, face stern. Mamoru scoffed. "Do the math, bookworm." Ami closed her eyes. "No thank you. You do the math. Four girls and one guy. One little phrase that will get you sent to jail for the next few years." "You wouldn't." Ami rose an eyebrow and nodded to the girls. All of them opened their mouth to scream. "Okay, okay," he said, putting his hands up in defeat. Rei stood. "Now if you would be so kind as to step off my property, we'll forget this ever happened," she said, pointing to the door. Shooting the girls a dirty look, Mamoru left. "YES!" Minako screamed. "You were awesome Ami-chan!" "Oh I really wasn't," Ami said, blushing. "You were, now come on girls, we've got to make sure Mamoru stays away from Usagi and Seiya tonight." The others agreed, and they rushed out the door. * * * * * * * * Usagi and Seiya had decided to take a walk to try to clear their minds. It took a lot of convincing, as Taiki thought Mamoru would be lurking around. Seiya pointed out that Mamoru had never been to their house, and he couldn't possibly be stalking them. They promised to stay on the property, and so far they had stuck to that promise. "Odango, I'm so glad that you're feeling better, I hate to see you upset," he told her, cupping her chin in his hands. She smiled. "I'm just glad I found you Seiya, I'm glad you never gave up on me." He smiled back. "I'd never dream of it," he said softly, bending in close and kissing her passionately. She returned the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck, and felt like her heart was flying. They were one now, and they'd never let each other go. "USAGI-CHAN!" Rei screamed, running toward the two. "Get back in the house now! Mamoru's on the way!" Usagi's eyes widened. "It's so far away!" she said, frantic. "Well, start running! Minako already tried to hold him off, but he put a gun to her head." Usagi let out a yelp of fear. "Well, well, well, I finally caught you, Bunny." Seiya stood in front of her as a shield. She clung to him, trembling. "Be careful," she whispered. "Oh please, Seiya, you're the one I want. I want you to feel the pain I feel. The pain of not having your love returned." "But I already have," he said. "I've loved Usagi for a long time, but she never returned my feeling because she was true to you." "So you turned her against me, I see how it is. Well, you won't be forgiven," he said, pulling the gun out. Usagi squeezed her eyes shut. She couldn't loose Seiya, not again. Her heart wouldn't be able to take it. So, she ran in front of him. "IIE!" she screamed at the top of her lungs, praying that someone would hear her cries. "Onegai, Mamo-chan, tell me what you want. Just please, don't hurt him." Slowly, Mamoru lowered the gun and tossed it to the side. Usagi thought about making a mad dash for it, but it would never happen. He approached her, wrapped his arms around her waist. Usagi began breathing heavily. He bent closer and kissed her. Usagi could feel ten thousand knives stabbing at her heart as she forced herself to kiss him back. Greatly saddened, Seiya turned to leave, only to be stopped by Rei. "Listen to me," she hissed. "You cannot give up, I know you love her with all your heart and soul, you always have. And now she loves you too. You can't just give that up!" "It's over Rei! Don't you see who she's chosen?" "Do you think she wants him? I swear to Kami, you know how big her heart is, she's doing this to protect you! You have to fight Seiya! Fight with all you've got or you're going to loose her!" Seiya looked down at her and smiled. "You're right Rei-chan. Thanks." "Come back to my place with me Usako," Mamoru said. Solemnly, Usagi nodded. Mamoru took her hand, and silent tears fell down her cheeks, as they walked off, she turned her head back to Seiya. "I love you," she mouthed, before disappearing with Mamoru. Rei smiled reassuringly. "You'll see her again soon, I know." Seiya nodded as he stared at where Usagi just was. "I know too, and until then, I'll be waiting for her faithfully. And I won't truly rest until she's back in my arms." * * * * * * * * And as Rei said, a week later, there was a knock at the light's mansion. Seiya answered, as he had answered everytime someone came knocking. And this time, the person he had been watching for was finally there, and she jumped into his arms. "Odango!" he exclaimed, twirling her around. "I missed you." "I missed you more," she giggled, bringing her lips to his. They continued like that for a few hours, just estatic to be together again. However, Usagi stopped and sighed. "I have to marry Mamoru," she said softly. He looked down at his lap. "I figured." "He thinks that it's the only way I'll stay away from you," she continued, regrettting shattering their moment. "But Seiya-chan, I'll never stay away from you, I'd follow you to the ends of the universe if necessary. I love you with all my heart and soul, and every minute that I was with Mamoru I felt like running to you. But if you ever-" He smiled, pulling her to him. "I'd never leave your side Odango, not for all the power in the universe. Just being with you makes me a better person, and I'm sorry for being selfish, but I want you with me, always." "I don't blame you," she whispered, kissing him again. And no matter what happens, I'll love you...always...
