The school Ootori's symbol is a rose, identical to the one that Utena brings in its ring, for what she thinks to find her Prince there.
But in that school the ring and the rose have a secret that changes her destiny.

And the secret is that Utena is not the only one that uses the ring, also the members of the student Council: Kiryu Touga, Saiyonji Kyouichi, Arisugawa Jury, Kaoru Miki, Kiryu Nanami
and it is for that ring that Utena was included in the game of the duels...

Her first duel was because Saiyonji hurt her bestfriend Wakaba, but when defeating him she get committed with Anthy the "Bride of the rose"
