Brock is the oldest of about 9 or 10 kids (some say 9 because they say he is the oldest OF 10, and some say that it's just 10. But really, I think they say both things in the show. Another mistake on WB). His piece-of-crap dad, Flint,
left home to begin a Pokémon trainer, and failed miserably. He was too embarrased or something to go back home, so he dressed up like an old hobo and sold rocks while his wife died and Brock took care of his kids. Can you say "afraid of commitment?" Well, Ash "Thunderbolt is Neato" Ketchum came along and Flint figured "Hey, here's my chance to apologize to Brock for YEARS OF NEGLECTION!" Well, Ash beats Brock with a stupid technicality, and Brock being the cool guy that he is gives Ash the Boulderbadge anyway. Then Flint comes up and he's like. "Hi, I'm back." And Brock's really nice to him even though he was gone for such a long time, and Flint takes care of the kinders while Brock goes off to fulfill his dream!
