Filia sat quietly on the windowsill and looked out at the night. She could hear Lina and Amelia sleeping. They were sharing a room at the inn in this peaceful little town. All the lights in the town were out, it seemed like everyone was asleep but her...

Filia sighed, thinking of him again. She shouldn't feel for him like this, but she did. She could see him in her mind's eye as she looked out at the sky, the stars. His hair, violet eyes...Eyes which could hold a grin or the most deadly calm look...beautiful eyes....

I doubt he feels for me..but...Filia looked pleadingly at the stars, I wish he did....let him...

Cause I'm dreaming of you tonight.
Till tomorrow I'll be holding you tight.
and there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be,
than here in my room dreaming about you and me.

The silent wish was sent...Slowly she slid off the windowsill, making her way to her own bed. As Filia climbed into her bed, just before she drifted to sleep, she thought, At least I have my dreams.....Filia smiled sadly, then fell asleep, into a wonderful dream....Knowing that when she woke up, it would hurt even more.

They sat at the table, the feeding frenzy between Lina, Gourry, and Amelia was in full force. Filia sighed and took another sip of her tea, looking almost wistfully over the rim at Xelloss. He looked vaguely amused at the feeding frenzy. He took a sip of the contents of his own cup, and saw her looking at him. Xelloss gave her a wink and a little finger waggle with his opposite hand. Filia, against her own feelings, hmphed, then ignored him, inspecting the tea in her cup instead.

Filia led the group towards their next destination. If they were lucky they'd make good time, and not stop in as many towns along the way. Not that that was much of a problem around here, the towns seemed further and further apart. Of course, to Lina and some of the others that also meant that meals were further apart...

"How much farther?...I'm hungry...", Lina complained.

"It shouldn't be too much farther. Anyway, even if we don't make the next town by tonight, I believe there's a river around here...."

Lina just sighed at nodded at her, dropping back to plod along wearily behind with Gourry. Filia glanced back at the group. The only ones who were keeping up were Zelgadis and..Xelloss...She gazed at him for a second longer than she should've. Quickly, before he caught on that she was looking at him she turned her head to the road in front of her.

I wish...I could tell him...

Filia sat down tiredly to rest her back against a tree that had grown a little way back from the river. She'd been right when she'd remembered the river, only it was smaller than it had been when she had last seen it. In the distance she could hear that the fish had finally finished cooking and the meal (if you could even call it that, they just stuffed food down their throats more than anything), had started. Filia smiled to herself a little as a soft breeze passed, rustling the tree leaves so that the late afternoon sunlight arranged itself in waving patterns upon the ground.

The sound of crumpling grass broke her out of her little trance, the only thing that alerted her to his presence was that sound.

"Hello Filia." said Xelloss. "Mind if I sit here? Nicer here than watching the eating contest."

"I don't care where you sit..." She shrugged in an attempt to ignore her heart beating just a little faster. He sat down carefully beside her, his shoulder touching hers. They sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes. The small lazy river the only sound.

"Filia?" Xelloss said softly.

"Yes?" Her heart had slowed back down.

"I have a secret for you..." He leaned over a little and whispered in her ear, "I love you."

Filia flushed, heart pounding again. It was almost impossible to believe, she'd wanted to hear those words....

"I...I.." she looked at him. "I love you, too..." He smiled faintly at her, opening his eyes to look at her, a soft expression.

Xelloss put an arm around her, and she leaned against him, resting her head on his shoulder. They sat there, just like that as night fell. Comfortable in just being near one another.

"Where did that girl get to?" Lina muttered. She hadn't figured that Filia would stay gone so long, even if it was a chance to be alone for a while. "I hope she didn't get hurt...."

"Uh, Lina?" Gourry said, they stood at the edge of what would be their camp tonight. "Isn't that her?"

"Well, yeah it....Isn't that Xelloss??" She started to walk over to the couple. Zelgadis put a hand on her shoulder.

"Leave them be."

"Xelloss?"

"Hm?" He wrapped his arm around her a little tighter. She took her head off his shoulder to look at him.

"Stay with me..."

"Always..." He kissed her gently, and she returned the kiss to the one she had dreamed of.

Author's Notes: I'm going a little Fi/Xel crazy. I already have a Fi/Xel fanfic in the works, and I want to finish it! Anyway, I don't own "Dreaming of You", I didn't write the lyrics, or sing it (Selena did that). I just listened to it for a good 24 hours straight. This is my first songfic ever.
