DON'T CRY
All I'm gonna say is that it involves Zechs and Noin, and that this
was my first songfic, as well as first time writing as either of
them. Its okay, but I don't know. I wrote my main comments at the
end of the fic. Tell me what you think.

----
She laid her head down on the dusty pillow one last time. She felt
foolish. She felt worthless. She felt horrible. Images of Epyon
flashed through her mind, and then the explosion. It was big, it was
way too big. Why did she have to be so close...so close to
Peacemillion?
She rolled over, her back touching the hard and cold metal bed. She
pressed herself onto it fully, and looked up at the crumbling
ceiling. She wondered, where he was now. Why he was there, and a
million jumbled thoughts of what he was thinking. Tossing and
turning she found it most impossible to ever close her eyes.
Why, why had she done all of this? Why couldn't she look back on
that time as something good, and not something painful? But it kept
appearing back in her memory.
A light flashed through the room and paraded patterns and stripes
across the single navy sheet, laid across her chest. 1A dream. A
simple dream. But I'll never see it...never... I can't even wish to
dream it.
~A shadow crossed over her head, one reminding her, one that
terrorized her time and time before. The eyes cast an eerie shadow
upon her chest, and she backed herself in the wall. Scared. So
scared.~
The shadow grabbed her up to its face, easily and quickly, and she
winced in the pain, forcing her eyes open. This wasn't a dream. The
reality poured through her slowly, catching her unaware.
It tore at her shirt, revealing herself to it, and thrust off the
rest of her clothes, throwing them somewhere behind. Fear welled up
inside the woman, always known for strength and endurance. She
thrashed at him more, hitting him as hard as she could, and when she
reached for her gun, instead she felt her naked body left bare. And
then the rough hands were upon her, touching her, feeling her, and
her face was in pain. The tears rolled down her cheeks as the
stranger touched her, and the whole time as she kicked her bones
ached, and her body rejected his touches.
She had always felt her first time would be wonderful, be something
to remember, and be glorious... and now it was all being shattered in
front of her face. A bit of blood smeared onto her slender fingers
as she pulled her hand away from her side, where strong and painful
arms held her down. She whimpered a bit, softly at first, letting
her aching body fight back as much as she could let it. The weight
pushing down on her was immense, and she could feel her wrist break
as he hit it back into the cold and hard ground again.
And then he was inside of her, her body, her soul... this wasn't
supposed to be happening to her, not her... not someone as strong and
willful... not like this! She was mad, and frustrated, and the
emotional and physical feelings welling up inside her body hurt, it
wasn't anything of how she dreamed it, not at all. Then that pain
turned into raw tears. Tears that fell past her in pitifulness, and
tears that proved her suffering. Even after the massive stranger got
up and was away, she lay bare, her body shaking and facing the
ceiling and her eyes pooled out around her, not even a small sob
reaching one. She cried like there was tomorrow... and it didn't
help. There wasn't such a thing as a good cry. She closed her eyes
tightly, the tears still falling and held herself, but nothing
helped, the salty liquid dripped into the corner of her mouth as she
sat up, her body bruised, bleeding and shaking. This wasn't
supposed to happen... this wasn't.. She kept repeating it to herself
as if that would help it go away.
She imagined him. What he was doing. If he was falling asleep at
one of his ever long meetings or if he were in flight, fighting with
no regrets on the air battlefield, she saw him so often occupying.
She tried to smile, thinking of what he was doing at hand, but even
that gesture hurt, and her sides began to ache, bringing harder sobs
out of her, her tears bleeding down her face.
She cried all night, creeping back on the hard cot, not even for a
moment wondering, or wanting to wonder who the man was... She lay
still, barely stirring, and as the sun rose quietly. A midst the
darkness of the room, her eyes were closed, and tears ran freely,
overlapping old traces, and pooling around her cot pillow.
***************
-- Come stop your crying
It will be all right
Just take my hand
Hold it tight --
***************
The warm cupping of a smooth hand slipping around her trembling chin
woke her to a small jump. Her body ached so much, that the jump was
very small. Then the blue of eyes reassured her and she felt her
head aching even more than ever. For him to see me like this...
The gentleness of the hand surprised Noin, and it fell from her chin
and raised up to her cheeks, brushing away some of the present
falling tears. Embarrassed and speechless, she just sat, staring on
into that endless blue that she doubted ever seeing again. Then the
hand fell, and brushed across hers until she felt a strong and
reassuring squeeze and a gentle and concerned smile.
***************
-- I will protect you
from all around you
I will be here
Don't you cry --
***************
Surprise flowed through Noin's aching veins and she looked at him, a
small confused look, taken in by the young blonde.
"Noin, I'm back... why are you crying?"
The words were simple, but just that small phrase hurt unbearably.
She turned her face away from his, new tears forming once again, and
she didn't know what to say, words seemed impossible now.
"Noin? Please don't cry... you can talk to me... talk to me about
it? I'm not going anywhere, I'll stay with you..."
***************
-- For one so small,
you seem so strong
My arms will hold you,
keep you safe and warm
This bond between us
can't be broken
I will be here
Don't you cry --
***************
Noin didn't answer but pulled her hand away from Zechs, barely
believing his words. This couldn't be possible. Not him. He'd
never stay to his word... so why did he say such a thing? Of course
he would leave, but she couldn't do anything to prevent that.
Nothing. She'd always be stuck watching him journey elsewhere.
Besides, it wasn't like she was never busy either.
She pulled both her arms around herself, shivering like mad, and
Zechs looked at her worried, watching the way she held herself. She
looked so lost, so small... so helpless. Noin never looks like
this... never... there must be something really wrong... she can't be
so maudlin that she got jailed in, can she? He pondered and reached
out to take her hand again, she seemed weak, limp, and when he did
it, he pulled her close into his arms, embracing her with a gentle
might, and warming her cold body.
"Noin... please... I'm staying... I paid you out of this dump... come
on... please stop crying..." his pleading voice didn't seem real.
It was his own deep voice, but with such concern, such gentleness...
She wasn't used to it. Curiously she sighed, closing her eyes and
deciding she liked his uncommon gestures. Noin eased into his arms,
and finally her tears seemed to dry.
Zechs held her there for a moment longer, his arms securely holding
her, and then finally, she sniffed in pitiful air, and tried her
attempt to speak, for her voice had long gone dry from shouting and
protesting the night before.
"Zechs... you... you came... why are you here? Why now?"
Zechs pulled her to face him, ever so gently, and ever so calm. His
gentleness surprised her, and she watched as he placed a single
finger to her lips, his eyes directed on her.
"It doesn't matter... I came here. I found you, that's all that
matters..." His voice was soft now, almost in a hush, and Noin found
herself speechless, staring at him again.
In about fifteen minutes, and all held in a great silence, although,
to Noin, it seemed comforting somehow, the two gathered the remaining
of her things, and she exited the tiny cell, with Zechs leading her
along. By now she realized she had a small limp, her knee swollen
and aching a lot. She hobbled by his side, and Zechs curtly had a
few second chat with the head officer of the jail.
Once in broad sunlight, Noin's bruises and cuts were obvious. Zechs
noticed easily as they walked down the busy morning day streets. He
watched her carefully, the whole time, silenced by her effort across
the street in how much pain she must be in. By now it was clearly
evident that something horrible really had happened, yet, he stayed
quiet, sure to use the right time to talk to her again. Something in
his heart said she had been calling for him.
He flagged down a cab, and they were escorted towards the higher part
of the big city, where Zechs stopped at the bottom of a large motel
building. Noin curiously looked at him, and he gave a friendly
smile, patting her on the shoulder, nodding up to its immense walls.
"We can stay here for the time being," he paused, making sure to
wrap his arm around her as they pushed through the big crowd across
the street to the front doors of the motel. She nodded quietly, too
quietly for her own good, in his opinion.
After they were suited a room, Zechs laid down her things, noticing
blood on one of the shirts, and worried, stuffed it away in one of
his own bags. He left the large suite for only a moment, and
returned to find Noin staring out the window in silence, looking down
the 5 stories at the busy people and traffic below her. Zechs
approached her from behind, worry in his eyes, and turned her to face
him, taking both her hands in his.
"Noin..." he said, his voice light, and Noin plastered a smile on her face.
"None of this polite stuff, Zechs-sama. I don't need any of that.
You've gotten me out of jail, and I don't need your help now..." she
found herself teasingly pushing him away, although in her heart, she
wanted to hide herself away. He mustn't know...
Zechs took her by the hand again, and his eyes sparkled, slender face
nearing hers.
"Don't give me that Noin. You were crying. You never cry... not
like this..." He brushed a stray piece of hair that seemed to like
darting into her eyes every few seconds, and a small smile spread
across her lips.
Its touchy, very very touchy... I'll wait until tonight... Zechs
pondered "How about you come with me to 'The Alberneize'?" he
delighted cheerfully, trying to brighten her spirits.
"The what?" she asked, and before she knew it he was heading down
the motel hallway and on the street, walking side by side with her.
"Its a really nice restaurant. They have wonderful luncheons there.
You must be starving from being stuck in that cell, and so we're
going there."
"Zechs," she continued, a little out of breath from the drag down the
street. That's funny.. I'm never this out of breath for something
so simple... "Don't you know I'm broke, I have no money. I did
until they drug me in there... they took it, as well as my ID and
license."
Zechs gave a hearty chuckle and pulled Noin closer to his side as
they turned the corner, a big blue and yellow sign appearing with the
words: 'The Alberneize'.
"Noin, don't be silly. Its my treat, and I'm sure we can get those
back before we go back home tonight," Noin sighed, and was drug into
the restaurant.
After having a more than tasteful meal, and an extra helping of
dessert, Zechs admitted he was overly stuffed, and finally Noin gave
in to be full too. By then it was late afternoon, and even with
small sweet chats, they had taken up most of their time in the small
restaurant.
Walking her down more quiet streets, Zechs began to explain what had
been happening in the past four months, where he had gone, and what
important and humorous things he ran into. And all the while, Zechs'
eyes were on her. Even her poor attempt to smile made chills run all
over him. He could feel the day grown darker with every given ride
across the city park, and every joy ride in the taxi, just for the
hell of it, the whole time Noin complaining about how ridiculous all
of it was. Is she having any fun at all? He wondered when they
started towards a tiny and secluded Italian place, and ate by the
silence of candlelight.
Why is this happening? Why is he being so sweet? It wasn't me
crying wasn't it? How can that turn such a strong and defiant man
into such a gentle creature? Unless that isn't it at all, and he's
preparing me for some horrible type of news... why do I wonder? This
isn't all that it seems. Its a nightmare... or is it a dream?
The walk home was the quietest of all, Zechs, hands in his pockets
and his head hung low. He didn't say a thing for at least 15
minutes, and this, bothering Noin, she started to randomly babble on
about how much her men must miss her, and if they've not improved
since she was gone, about how much she would work them for the next
week. Zechs answered with silent bows of the head, and polite nods,
and sometimes he hummed, but it was obvious to her that he was deep
in thought.
"Zechs? What is on your mind this night?" she finally brought up.
A long moment of silence before there was an answer.
"I have to go back to L2 tomorrow morning," was the icy reply, and
then a bit of silence again. "I have some quick business to attend
to..." his voice was dry, and as willful and strong as always. Noin
nodded quietly, and her eyes seemed to draw away from looking at him.
A small pain pricked at her eyes, but she ignored it.
"I see." Yeah, I see... I see what you were cheesing me up for all day.
The rest of the walk home was in aching silence, but once they
reached the motel room, Zechs flung open the door with a smile.
"I have a little surprise for us," he said with a wink, and she
walked in slowly.
"Oh do you? I notice you said 'us' and not 'me'. Something you'd
enjoy too?" He just grinned and once the door behind him was shut,
he disappeared into the kitchen area of the suite.
Noin lazily walked about, waiting, by sitting on one of the casual
wicker chairs placed nicely in the livingroom. She waited for about
fifteen minutes, and strangely enough, the patience that was once in
her, seemed to fade, and she stood up heading to the bedroom.
Finally looking in the mirror, for the first time in four weeks, she
grunted at how ratted her hair was, and how bruised and cut her face
was. Why she looked like a bum off the street. She was surprised
that Zechs went through all this trouble, and the whole time said
nothing about her appearance.
"I guess that was just a part of his plan..." she mumbled out loud.
"A part of what plan?" A deep voice said sneaking up behind her,
hands behind his back.
"What are you up to?" she asked, noticing the mischievous smile.
He pulled a bottle of red wine out from behind his back, and gladly
set it in her palms.
"Oh so that's it? Trying to get me drunk are you!" He laughed and
took it back from her.
"Just thought it'd be nice for tonight, right? Before I'm leaving
and all. Let it keep you company while I go take a shower. I'll be
back in a few..." and with that he grabbed a towel from the bedside,
and disappeared behind the door.
Noin slowly sat down on the edge of the bed, that strange pain
pricking at her eyes again. She held in a small sigh. A painful
sigh. This isn't fair. Why does he have to tempt me with such
words? Why does he have to pretend that its not anything to me? I
know he knows... how much I care for him. Yet still he throws out
promises as if they'd ever be true... and just when I could almost
believe it... But I'm through with that. This is not me. This is
not the Lucrezia I know... I wouldn't take this all to heart... She
found herself nervously folding her hands in her lap, and looked
slowly down at them, her body beginning to shake.
"But it hurts..." she said aloud, and her hands fell to her eyes,
tears tearing from her and dripping down her face, once calm and
clean before. "This is not me... not me to cry like this..." she
said once again. She couldn't bare to see Zechs come to her rescue,
even if he didn't know it, and then in the same second, vanish again.
But there was no way she could stop it, nothing she could do... she
couldn't bring herself to think another way... but she felt alone,
and now would forever feel more alone. It was not that she was never
alone before, but a new fear of loneliness grew in her now.
God, can I do it...? Zechs said to himself, washing in the
steaming shower. He turned the water off and shook his body,
wrapping his waist in a towel, and letting his hair drip along his
back. Worry surged through him. He hated to lie like this to Noin.
Even if she didn't act like it, he knew it hurt her. It had to. For
him to leave.... But maybe not. Maybe...
"This is stupid... it'll never work... why am I being like this? I'm
not acting like myself at all..." Zechs grumbled and dried the last
bit of his body. His hair wasn't as dripping as before, but it was
still fairly damp.
Making his way to the bedroom to get more clothes on, and only
standing in the towel, Zechs casually swung the door open. But even
when she pulled herself away, and when she let her hands drop to her
sides, all of what had happened was evident to him.
"Noin..." he said, his voice soft. She had made no sound, but
another clear teardrop splashed off her cheek, and she looked at him
in shame and humility. Standing to her feet, she tried to make her
way out of the room. Dammit... to be caught like this again!
But Zechs had already caught her in his arms, and was holding her
tightly from exiting the room.
"Noin...Lucrezia... we have to talk..." Noin took in a slow breath
of air. He had addressed her personally.
"I...Zechs... I... can't talk to you. Not about this." Zechs' heart
felt shattered.
How can she say this when she knows I want to help? How can she say
this when I am planning what I am? Maybe she will never change...
"Noin! Dammit!" Zechs felt himself grab her fiercely around the
shoulders, positioning her stiffly in front of him. In this kind of
strength, there was no way he was letting her go. "Your not going
anywhere! And your going to talk to me, you can't just keep this
bottled up inside of you. Do you know what that does to people? It
makes them kill themselves... I'd never forgive myself if that
happened to you!" Noin gulped in quietly, the power on her shoulders
making her cringe a little.
"Zechs, I'm not going to--"
"Noin listen to me! You can't do this to yourself! I'm worried about
you... what can I do to help if you won't tell me what happened...
Noin... I..." She looked at him, her body still shaking, but just
slightly. He looked down at her limp arms and his eyes widened
suddenly. He gently picked up her wrist, eying it closely, his
intense eyes went from it to her sullen eyes. "Its broken..."
Noin looked slowly down at her own wrist, a small pain seeping up
inside her. This whole time and she hadn't even noticed her own
broken body part. He carefully held her hand and walked to his bag,
strangely enough, pulling out a small balled up bandage and a small
popsicle stick. He propped her wrist straight and wrapped it up, the
whole time, Noin staring at him in silence.
When he was done, her hand fell back to her side once again. She
looked up painfully at Zechs. "I'm sorry... thank you... I'm just a
little... worked up over being locked away, that's all," Zechs
stared at her sternly, helping her to sit on the beside with him.
"No, Noin, that isn't it. I know it isn't. You wouldn't cry over
something like that. I know you much more than you think Noin...
Please.. just... tell me... I won't judge you, why would I ever?"
His concerned words filled her softly, and her shoulders began to
ache. So much pouring over her now, and his words... She wanted to
believe it, but how could she when he had already broken his promise
before.
"Zechs... p-please don't leave..." was all she could manage as the
dreaded feeling of loneliness washed over her.
"Noin..." he said, and hopefully for the last time, his hands
clasped in hers. "Please don't cry... I... I'm sorry.. but I have to
go... I didn't know it mattered so much."
"A lot of things matter to me that you don't seem to notice... don't
see how much I--" but she couldn't finish that sentence, not now.
To hear something painful, something on how he would react, would
crush her for eternity.
"Noin, God... what happened?" he said, wrapping his arms around her,
his intense eyes burning. Why won't she tell me...? He took her
by the upper arms, grabbing her tightly and forced her to come face
to face with him, only a few inches separating their noses.
Frustrated and with no opinion or care left, Noin growled in a husky
teary voice.
"Dammit Zechs! I got raped! Yeah, me... the Noin you *thought* you
knew! And there's nothing you can do about it and if your wondering
I don't know why I couldn't stop it..." with that said, she wrenched
away from his grip, and pulled herself to the other side of the bed.
I'm acting like a little child that's having a tantrum, and now
he'll never look at me the same again...
Zechs was in shock. He'd never have guessed it. He watched as she
pulled away. No wonder your in such pain... oh god Noin... why
didn't I come sooner... I could of kicked the living shit out of
whoever touched you!
Zechs slowly stood to his feet, still only dressed in his towel, that
he was at that time ignoring. He walked over to the other side of
the bed, quietly sitting beside her. He was careful not to touch
her, not yet.
"Noin. I'm not going anywhere, I... I'm staying here with you..."
his voice was calm but something in it seemed to ache, even she could
tell in her hysterics.
You've already said that, and guess what...
"If you only knew why I was going back to L2, it was for you...
Noin...I'm so sorry.. I don't know how I could have let this happen..
Lucrezia please..." he said his voice cracking. He couldn't stand
to know it. Know that he had let it happen to her. "Lucrezia, I
love you, I won't let you do this to yourself..." his eyes spoke it
all when he mouthed the words, and Noin found herself looking back at
him. But strangely enough, she wasn't surprised, and she wasn't
touched, instead she was a bit angry.
"How can you say that now? Just after I told you? Do you think I'm
that weak to let a man get on me and get away with it? He caught me
by surprise Zechs. I... was going to stop him... but..." she took
in a quick breath. "Are you just gonna plead to my feet now? Say
things that once again aren't true, and never will be, just because
you know what I've been through. Do you feel sorry for me or
something!? Not me Zechs. I'm strong. This isn't me. And it never
will be..."
Zechs took her by the arms gently, his voice calmed, his eyes directed on
her.
"Noin, please listen to me... I'm not just saying this... please
understand--" But before he could finish, his words were wrenched
away from him and Noin pulled away standing to her feet.
"And if you think this will in anyway, lessen my endurance for pain,
your wrong. I am no more weak than I ever was. In fact, this whole
ordeal has made me stronger..." she said her voice steady but
trailing off.
The last bits of her words were swallowed away then, as Zechs
approached her, his nose touching her lips. He reached his arms
around her gently, pulling her body closer to his own, breathing in
her scent, no matter how unwashed it was. "Lucrezia, I do love
you... and no matter what, you'll always be in my heart. It just
hurts me to know that someone has touched you... because I have to
protect you. I have to... keep you safe. And only when you are do I
feel you'll maybe have it in you to love me, and only then..." his
soft voice thrilled and before Noin could even think of what to
respond to or even let thoughts brush past her mind, the sweet taste
of precious lips were against hers, pulling her breath away for
eternity, and enthralled in the precious moment of what seemed a life
long's waiting, Noin fell against him, taking in every waking second
of it all.
********************
-- 'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more --
********************
Zechs warm hands once again felt across her cheek, guiding her chin
to meet his lips more, and his arm wrapped around her shoulders,
holding her body close, so he couldn't let her go. He never wanted
to let her go. So long... so long I've waited...
********************
-- You'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be here in my heart,
always --
********************
And then Noin could feel the softness of motel covers seeping around
her frame, and the weight of a man she always thought of, pressing
down on her. The weight wasn't exactly light, but it felt good to be
securely held with his power, and his comfort. And all the while his
lips were on hers, touching her gently. And his fingers, letting his
hands trails through her hair, and down her back.
This is how it felt. This is how it felt to be held, to be warm like
this, and to not be afraid. She never had dreamed that she'd feel
such pain, such terror one night, and the next ,the very next night
feel such overwhelming wonder. The coolness of a tongue slipped past
Noin's mouth, and she excepted it, and running her hands through
Zechs' dampened hair, felt at his tongue as well. Shivers wound all
over Zechs body at her touch, her feel, and even her smell. This is
where he wanted to be, now, and forever. This is what he dreamed of.
And not until recently did he even except it as a reality.
********************
-- Why can't they understand
the way we feel
They just don't trust
what they can't explain
I know we're different but,
deep in side us
We're not that different at all --
********************
After a few more minutes of motionless caressing from the two, Noin
pulled back, running out of breath. She stayed in Zechs arms, the
whole time her eyes locked onto his, hoping to never pull back, and
never escape his touch.
"Zechs... what about, the others? If they knew... that you... We're
soldiers... this can't happen, not if they..."
Zechs smiled gingerly, and reached with the same gesture earlier that
day, placing his finger over her lips in silence.
*******************
-- And you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more --
*******************
Noin reached forward then, to gently pull his hand away, and she
pulled him back on top of her, comforting and warming her body. By
now, Zechs' towel had slipped away. Smothering him into endless
kisses and caresses, Zechs fell away from his reality of world,
pausing only once, while kissing her sweet neck to mumble:
"Noin, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks... what matters is
you. You mean everything to me, and no matter what, I'm not going to
let you go..." Noin let out a precious sigh Zechs would never have
lived without hearing and he continued to run his fingers over her
stomach and chest, his mouth gently nipping at her neck.
*****************
-- Don't listen to them
'Cause what do they know
We need each other,
to have, to hold
They'll see in time
I know --
*****************
Zechs' sweet mouth overlapped hers, repeatedly, the tastes of his
skin salty and pure. Noin's eyes filled with tears. This was so
much different, so perfect, so right. His tongue carefully trailed
down her chin, across her neck, sending rows of goose bumps all over
her body. Shivering a bit into his touch, his slender fingers tugged
at her shirt.
The silence of the night had finally dawned on him when his moans
echoed through the dark room, but the silence wasn't important now.
The only important thing was he really was with Noin. He really was
going to be with her forever know, and no matter what it took, he'd
take her as his own. Right after the war ended... everything would
be different now. The rushing pains and pleasures of his body seemed
to overlap and his mouth ran dry, his pleading voice taking over for
him, until his world slipped beneath Noin's...
-----------
Part Two
-----------
A loud bringing noise shattered the ears of the weary couple, massed
under thousands of messy covers and Noin sat up in bed rapidly, her
hair ruffled even more than usual, and in her face.
"Hmmpf?" she tried to say, and Zechs was already leaping out of bed,
grabbing his pants, and shoving them on, and running, his hair a
tangled mess all over his face, and reached for the cell phone in his
bag.
"What!" he demanded slowly making his way back to where Noin lay
groggily. "You want me to what? Why's that? I have four months and
I--" Zechs' face became rather angry looking and he snorted.
"Treize, I'm kinda busy-- No! Of course its important! Noin too?
Dammit Treize can't you even respect my--"
Zechs glared at the phone pulling it away from his ear, and Noin
could faintly hear a dial tone. Shoving the phone back into his bag,
Zechs crawled back over to Noin, his eyes fondly looking down at her.
Then he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her warmly. But
before he could drown her in kisses, she pushed him playfully, and
pulled away.
"Zechs, don't pretend that nothing just happened there! What did
Treize want?" she mused happily, a bruise on her cheek showing up
quite obviously. Zechs kissed it gently, and leaned back in the bed,
his weight off her.
"Okay... I was just trying to let a few moments last..." he sighed,
and scratched at the back of his neck for a second, then finally
answered her. "Treize demands some back up near the colonies, things
are getting out of hand and... we really need to help him. The catch
is, we're supposed to be there in 5 hours." Noin looked at him
pitifully and sighed.
"When you say 'we' do you mean you and your letting me come along or--"
"Both of us. He wants both of us on that 'great' battlefield. And
he says the pilots are around... so we better get going..." he gave a
brief smile and helped Noin out of bed and to her feet. "And don't
worry, I'll cover for your appearance. Your really bruised up..."
She gave a small grin and started to search for the remaining of her
clothes that were tossed off at night. At least it wasn't as bad as
being left alone without him. He wouldn't be next to her, but he
wouldn't be too far away...
Only six hours later, Noin was sitting in her ever familiar attire in
the warmth of the Peacemillion spacecraft. Shouting orders to
remaining men, and watching carefully on guard, she felt like her old
self again. Her uniform rubbed against some deep cuts, but it was
easily ignored when she pictured her blonde man, coming back to be
near her again. Dammit, I really can't wait until this war's over.
He promised me... and I know that he means it this time.
The loud clashing explosions of reality brought her away from her
reverie, and she looked out through open view of the outer space
surrounding her. So deep the stars are out here, and so beautiful
to be cluttered by the heat of battle... But the war must go on...

The speaker system let on a familiar pilot's angry voice, shouting
something about a Zero System and then there was fuzzed silence.
Noin's brow furrowed in curiosity, and she gave commands to swing
Peacemillion back towards a faint and crazy plea for help.
Suddenly she catches glance of Tallgeese, the shining white
reflecting easily on the screen. Her eyes grow wide as a target from
one of the Gundam's is locked onto his. Zechs' voice flashed on
speaker then, for just a second.
"Dammit! Shit! The whole things locked up! Tallgeese is going on
system failure! I can't gain control... I think its--" his voice
fuzzed out and away.
Noin found herself stop giving the orders and desperately staring out
the view screen of space. The flashing red light and echoing sound
of Self Destruction System bounced through her ears, and the lights
reflected off her eyes.
That ever familiar prickly pain swept across her eyes, and she stared
out the window, her throat already dried up, and voiceless.

"Noin-sama, should we turn Peacmillion around? There was an
explosion behind us... this area is getting dangerous for our ship!"
a random soldier's voice called behind her, and his words passed
through her like a breeze.
Her glazed eyes stared out ahead of her then, as if in a trance, that
painful ache now reaching her throat, that was no longer dry, but
filled with an unforgivable pain. It pressed at her, and poked at
her, but still she stood calm, silent, her eyes locked on the
flashing Tallgeese.
And then all at once there was a loud explosion, and Tallgeese's
structure seemed to fail and parts of it shout out everywhere. Men
behind Noin ran up to her, to cover her to the ground, to avoid
flying debris, that was connecting with Peacemillion. Without the
consent of their her's, they already had started to pull the ship
back in retreat.
"Dammit, No!" Noin cried, her eyes glazed over even more, and she
jumped to the main controls, steadying the ship in still arid view of
the already blown away mobil suit. She glared at her men, and told
them to move no further, walking away from that and to the screen
once again, to peer out at the floating debris and what remained of
Tallgeese.
Squinting hard through her blurring eyes, Noin caught sight of a
silent, and battered floating man. His body floated past a large
pile of metal, and disappeared.
Noin's eyes watered in fear, her hands clutching desperately at her
aching side.
"God... no..." she mumbled so quietly, she could barely hear it
herself. She found herself falling to her knees, the bit of her
reality biting her hard beyond belief and her hands shook, flying up
to catch her face. Tears shook at her body, but nothing came. She
pulled her hands away to find splotches of blood covering her hands
from where the debris had hit her from the explosion.
Another loud piercing echo, and a fuzzed voice came on the speaker.
The voice was nearly muted, and sounded extremely choked. Noin
barely noticed as she shook her head in fear.
"Noin... please... please.. don't cry..." it said, and before
anything more was heard there was the static of space left to fill
her mind. She lifted her head slowly to look out once again at the
mess of rubble in front of her.
Suddenly, as silent as ever, she stood to her feet. A mass of broken
glass floated right past the view point of the ship, and a single
tear fell across Noin's cheek, disappearing with the gravitation of
space.

A word from LTS:
YAY!!! *leaps in the air with glee* I finally finished it! Wait,
this one took me one day to finish... *blinks* Oh well. What do you
think? You like?
^_^ Its my first song-fic, just so you know, the song comes from the
soundtrack Tarzan, as most of you know. I don't care if you don't
like the song! I do! Its by Phil Collins, and he's kewl!
^__~ Any C&C is welcome!
Also keep in mind, that to make this fit with the song, Noin was
probably very ooc, and as well as Zechs. I tried my best, but this
is the first time I wrote a fic about the two, altogether. Never
written from Noin's view or Zechs' until now! *waves*
