Webmaster's Notes: The MS-07B Gouf was the immediate follower to the MS-06J Zaku. Similar to a Zaku in style and looks, the MS-07B incorporated additional built-in weapons, as well as thrusters capable of making short jet assisted jumps. The Gouf was able to use any weapon in the Zaku arsenal, making it more than capable of holding its own at medium range. However, built in short range weapons such as a unique and powerful 75mm machine gun and the revolutionary heat rod makes the Gouf a deadly foe even when it seems to be empty handed. Unfortunately, the 75mm machine gun, with each finger in the left hand acting as a barrel, most likely had to be switched out for a normal hand if the Gouf wanted to use its left hand to grip a standard weapon. The Gouf is equipped with the heat rod, a tentacle like whip that extends from the right wrist and can both slice through enemy armor or grapple opponents and charge their mobile suit with disabling electricity. The Gouf's heat saber, unlike that of any other Zeon mobile suit, acted in similar fashion to a beam saber in use; basically a hilt with a short emiter sticking out, from which actual glowing orange heat could be radiated to form a thick, curved blade. Finally, a shield for the Gouf's left arm allowed it to defend against enemy attacks without having to depend only on dodging. The Gouf began mass production but was quickly replaced by the superior MS-09 Dom, leaving a limited number of Goufs in the field. The Gouf would remain one of the One Year War's best "ground pounding" mobile suits, prefered over the Dom by some pilots who preferred having their mobile suits run rather than slide across the terrain. ( Additonal Notes: The version of the Gouf used by Ranba Ral in Mobile Suit Gundam is in fact the YMS-07B Gouf, the prototype of the mass production variant. However, the prototype was exactly identicle to the production type. The word "Gouf" is heard pronounced "Goof" in 08th MS Team and "Guf" In Mobile suit Gundam. I pronounce it "Gowwf".)
