Webmaster's notes: Though not as impressive as its ground use counterpart, the MS-09R Rick Dom claims an entirely different place in mobile suit history, as the first high performance mobile suit to be mass produced. After winning the Duchy's approval to be mass produced over Zeonic Company's MS-06R-2 Zaku II High Mobility Type, Rick Doms were produced in numbers probably only second to the MS-06F Zaku II and RGM-79 GM, quickly taking the place of the Zaku II on the front line. Armed solely with a 360mm Giant Bazooka and a Heat Saber, the Rick Dom was aimed at ending a fight quickly. Zimmad Corporation originally intended for the MS-15 Gyan to serve as a support unit for the Rick Dom, to provide it with medium range cover. However, the Gyan concept was turned down, the Dom proving a more than acceptable mobile suit all by itself. The Rick Dom's shortcoming laid primarily in the fact that the Duchy's number of experianced pilots was constantly being shortened, leaving more and more MS-09Rs in the hands of rookie pilots.
