Webmaster's Noates: Produced by Anaheim Electronics for the Earth Federal Forces in UC 0083, the GP-02 was a harsh deviation from the stereotypical gundam, perhaps because it was so highly specialized. Designed solely for delivery of a nuclear warhead, the GP-02 was hense extensively armored and carried a shield of overwhelming proportions that also stored the barrel of the nuke-launching bazooka. An entirely different head design, wide legs almost befitting a Zeon mobile suit, and huge shoulder binders mounting three large thrusters each made the GP-02 entirely different in appearance than the RX-79, NT-1, and GP-01 Gundams, and no doubt made it all the more comfortable for Anavel Gato, who would steal it from the Federation and serve as its pilot for several weeks. Gato would extensively use the Gundam's head mounted vulcan cannons to some effect, as they were the GP-02s only subweapons save for its twin beam sabers, which ignited in an unprecedented green rather than the standard red. Despite being a rather small mobile suit by comparison to some Zeon designs, the GP-02 could propel itself at rapid speed both in space and across the ground using its shoulder binders as well as smaller thrusters mounted the soles of its feet. The shoulder mounted bazooka could be assemebled and fired in a matter of seconds, and included a sight for targeting purposes. The Gundam also mounted extra sensors on its shoulders, for additional targeting data and for lack of the standard forehead mounted camera. The nuclear weapon was loaded into the chambering mechanism of the bazooka via the GP-02s backpack. Overall, the Physalis Gundam was an impressive mobile suit, its only weakness that it was unable to hold up for long in a medium or long range fight. The overall purpose of the mobile suit, however, made such a weakness for the most part irrelevant.
