Webmaster's Notes: Originally an anti-aircraft design, the Zaku Cannon was instead designed to provide long range support for other ground mobile suits, most likely MS-06J Zaku IIs. The Zaku Cannon, rather than being a simple Zaku II with a shoulder mounted 180mm, is an entirely different design. Notable changes include 360 degree visor for the mono eye and a head sensor similar to the one seen on Federal forces mobile suits. It can be assumed these enhancements in the MS-06K's vision were to provide better cannon accuracy. The Zaku wielded a 180mm shoulder mounted cannon, 180mm being the standard size for most cannon rounds used by mobile weapons in the One Year War. To profide itself with midrange support, the Zaku could also take on a two tube rocket pod in either hand, which would be useful when enemies got too close to use the cannon. Two smoke dischargers enable the Zaku Cannon to mask its position from the enemy. The Zaku Cannon, due to balance problems, was never mass produced, but a significant number of units had already been rolled out by the time the project was cancelled. Most of these units remained stationed at Zeon's California base and made up part of the base's defense forces. Some units were used in other parts of the world. In Asia the legs were removed from some MS-06Ks to eliminate the balance issue, in effect making them nothing more than stationary artillery batteries. The MS-06K could also be given a standard MS-06J type backpack in place of the cannon one to increase thrust strength.
