The School Too Far

Todd walked home with Sakura and Li. Madison couldn't come with them because she has a doctor's appointment. They all reached the turnoff point and Todd said. "I could go to your house, Sakura!"

 "Sure!" Sakura replied. "Let's go!"

At Sakura's house, Todd and Li walked into the house smelling the smell of pizza. They looked on Tori, cooking pizza. Sakura looked on and walked up to him, she asked. "Tori, what are you doing and why on earth have you made so many pizzas?"

There were pizzas everywhere. All together, there must have been over 20 pizzas cooling on cooling racks all over the place. Sakura then asked again. "Don't you know that Dad and I are making dumplings for supper tonight?"

"Yeah, I know that!" Tori replied, annoyed. "I need to practice making pizza, I want to impress my girlfriend..."

"The one from Australia?" Sakura asked. "You met another girl who works at the pizza place and you want to impress her by making an awesome pizza..."

"Oh no, we're..." Todd asked, trailing off.

"Yes! I've made pizza so we can chow down on it for the next three weeks!" Tori interludes with great enthusiasm. "I won't have to even bring pizza home!"

"Wonderful...pizza for the next three weeks..." Todd mumbled. "At this rate I'll die and Tori will be sued for every penny he owns...but then again, I am drinking orange juice every day. Orange juice ought to help..."

Todd and Li were invited to stay for supper. Todd was a little nervous but Li was chomping down on supper. Sakura's Dad asked Todd about himself and Todd nervously answered every question thrown at him. At the end of supper, Sakura, Todd and Li did the dishes and went up to Sakura's room. Sakura's dad glanced at them with disapproval as they went up the stairs.

Sakura, Todd and Li began talking. Todd first asked. "So, I wonder..."

"Ask away, we'll answer all your questions." Sakura replied. "Right, Li?"

 "Right, ask anything..." Li mumbled.

Kero popped out of Todd's backpack and sniffed. Everyone looked over to him and Kero sniffed again. "I smell food, you were eating food without me..."

"Relax you little pig, I saved you some food." Todd replied, revealing a small napkin full of dumplings and fish.

"Oh yum, yum, yum..." Kero snarled as he hastily ate the food. "Oh...that's good dumplings...Tori is Todd's baby sitter, all he ever makes is pizza and I'm getting so sick of it..."

"You and me both, little buddy." Todd replied. "Well, I have some questions... Here's the first one, I keep having a dream of a figure who is silhouetted in darkness and never tells me who it is. It told me that it would reveal itself if I caught 10 clow cards but...It didn't. It gave me a spell called 'magic missile' instead. What can you tell me about this thing."

"It could be Yue." Li replied. "Yue looks sort of like an angel...did the figure look like an angel to you?"

"Nope!" Todd replied flatly. "It wasn't an angel, it looked more like a hooded creature with a long tail..."

"I never heard of anything like that!" Li stated. "This might be the monster who is the dark one!"

"The dark one would never help me...I might have dreamed of it, but it attacked and threw me over a cliff!" Todd retorted. "What will happen when I capture all of the clow cards? What will happen then?"

"Kero here, will turn into his true form." Sakura replied.

"I'll look like the creature on the front of the Clow Book!" Kero replied as he puffed himself up. "I'll look mighty! I'll look powerful! I'll look..."

"Out of breath..." Todd replied as Kero let out the air and returned to his normal size.

They all laughed as Sakura's dad went up the stairs, holding a tray of puddings. Kero sniffed and started drooling. Todd looked over and stared at him. "What's with you anyway?"

The door knocked with a voice that came from behind. "Sakura, Todd, Li...I have snacks!"

Sakura opened the door to reveal her father, he stepped in and put the tray on the floor. Everyone said thanks and Aiden left, whistling as he went down the stairs. Tori was on the couch, looking annoyed. "You know Dad, you gotta stop butting in..."

"I was not butting in!" Aiden replied as he went to the kitchen to make himself a drink. He walked out and Tori looked at him with disapproval. "What?" Aiden asked as he sat himself down.

"You always interlude into Sakura's room when ever Li is over. It's like you don't trust her alone with boys." Tori replied. "You never butt in on me when I have girlfriends over."

"You have girlfriends? I never knew you had a girlfriend...!" Aiden replied, mystified. "You never talk about your girlfriends."

"That's because I never really had a girlfriend before." Tori murmured bitterly. "If I had a girlfriend, you'd probably butt in with pudding too?"

"What did you say?" Aiden asked quickly.

 "Nothing!" Tori replied.

Back in Sakura's room, Sakura answered Todd's question. "Well, when you capture all the clow cards, Yue will come to challenge you to a final test. If you pass the test, you are a clow card master."

"Wow! A clow card master!" Todd replied ambitiously. "I'll be the next Clow Master!"

"You usually keep the clow cards as well, but I put them back in the library. I wanted to bury the book, but that would ruin it, not to mention hurt Kero and Yue..."

"See? Sakura was just looking out for me!" Kero replied, slurping some pudding. "... ... ooh, yum pudding...."

Li looked at Sakura and asked. "Hey! You signed the cards didn't you...doesn't that mean that you are the only one who could have them?"

"Yeah! That's a good point!" Kero replied as they took a look at Todd's clow card haul. Todd didn't put his name on any of the cards that he caught.

"Didn't you sign the cards yet?" Li asked, annoyed. "Boy, you are new..."

"What's so great about signing your name on the bottom of the cards?" Todd asked. "I didn't because I was afraid of hurting the clow cards..."

"Quick, sign your name on the cards now!" Li asked intently. "If you do, then no one will be able to use them but you!"

Sakura got Todd a pen and Todd tried to sign the cards. Todd wrote his name on all the cards and breathed a sigh of relief. "Good! Now, they're truly mine."

Todd and Sakura looked on the clow cards as they began to glow, the clow cards emitted a bright light and the light vanished. Todd and Sakura looked closer as the clow cards revealed themselves. The cards were the same but...Todd's name was gone.

"What just happened!?" Todd yelled as he looked on the cards, now nameless again. "My name disappeared!"

"You aren't worthy of clow magic after all!" Li replied, amused slightly. "Sakura, why don't you put your name on the card?"

"You sure?" Sakura asked Todd and Todd nodded. Sakura printed her name on the card but the name vanished also.

Kero glared at the cards in a serious way. "This isn't funny, why isn't it working? It should, you know."

Todd looked at his watch and the watch read 8:44 pm. Todd looked up and sighed. "It looks like it's time for me to go home, I'll see you guys tomorrow." Todd went downstairs and looked at Tori.

Tori nodded and said. "I'll have to take this squirt home, I'll be back in about fifteen, see ya Dad."

Tori drove Todd home to the Kyoden manor. Todd had a look of worry and Tori asked. "What's up, Squirt?"

"Don't worry about my problems, they aren't that important." Todd replied. "Besides, I'll handle it, it isn't serious."

"Well, if you need any help, I'll help you." Tori replied truthfully. "Hey, here we are."

Tori dropped Todd off in the Kyoden manor parking lot and Todd went into the main building. Todd walked in and eventually reached his apartment on the top floor. Todd went in and fell onto the couch. Todd was holding the clow cards and the cards made him wonder. "I wonder why they won't let me put my name on them? Oh well, I'm sure that the reason why I can't will become apparent soon enough, right Kero?"

"Right, you gotta expect the unexpected…" Kero replied, getting some food from the fridge, only to realize that everything was pizza related. "I wish Tori would make something other than pizza."

"Yeah, well…My mom is coming back home in a few days so his reign of terror will soon be over." Todd replied. "I'm relieved but sort of worried, I don't know who'll be looking after me later."

"Don't you remember? It's Miss Mackenzie!" Kero replied, flying around. "When she's over, I'll be able to spread my wings and do what I want!"

"You pretty much can anyway!" Todd replied, annoyed. "Tori is like, never home." Todd brushed his teeth and went to his bed. He took the clow book with him and opened it. Todd turned to various pages telling about clow cards. "Sweet card…a gentle spirit who turns everything she touches into candy and junk food. Wow, that's a cool ability…but it's pretty useless though."

Kero flew up to him and pointed to the clow book. "Why don't you study elemental cards, a wise card hunter never barrels into battle without knowing the card's weakness."

"Okay…" Todd replied as he flipped to his own card. "This is the card that I started out with, Windy. Windy is an elemental who is swift and temperate, she is often the starting card for many Cardcaptors. Hmm…"

"Right, that's Windy…but check out Firey and Earthy too." Kero replied, snuggling into a pillow. "Look at cards that you haven't caught yet…"

"Yes, Master!" Todd replied sarcastically. "Isn't part of knowing yourself a part of becoming a winner? After all, the wise saying is: Know yourself, know your enemy, and you hold the key to victory."

"Good Saying, but I haven't felt a clow card lately…so it might me one of the four elemental cards. They're elusive and hard to sense, even for the masters. Elemental cards are also more powerful then regular cards, you know that. You did fight the watery card and you had to use almost every one of your clow cards in order to capture it…"

"Right, I remember it like yesterday…even though it was only a couple of weeks ago, it was still like yesterday…" Todd replied as they went into flashback.

Watery summoned another wave of water which sweeps Todd and Sakura up in a current of water. The water crashes them into the penguin slide, a fair distance away from where they were.

"This is a powerful card isn't it?" Todd asked as he got up.

"Yeah!" Sakura said in an irritated sarcastic tone. "Here it comes!"

Water was streaming towards them. Todd and Sakura duck into the slide as Watery crashes into the slide, soaking it in water. Todd then ran out to an open area of the park. Todd then chanted as he drew the Windy card. "Windy, Release and dispel. Bind Watery now!" Todd threw the card up and slammed it with his spear. The card transformed into a mass of ropey yellow energy which formed into Windy. Windy then wrapped itself around Watery. Todd then ran to the site and positioned his spear. "Return to your power confined! Watery Card!!" Todd commanded as a bright flash was made. A glowing card shape appeared on Todd's spear and watery transformed into a mass of ropey blue energy. The energy filtered into the card on Todd's spear. The picture finally appeared as the water vanished from the ground. The damage was still present though.

"The Watery Card!" Todd said then jumped for joy. "I did it! I caught the Watery card!" Todd said, then suddenly felt a rush to his head as he fell to his knees. "Ugh! I feel kind of woozy..."

Li helped Todd up and they all helped him to a park bench. Li then smiled and said. "What that was, was spell weariness..."

 "Spell weariness...?" Todd asked sleepily.

"You used too many clow cards in a short time. How many clow cards did you use?" Li replied, hands crossed. The flashback ended.

"I was a rookie then though…" Todd reminded Kero. "I really didn't know what I was doing."

"You're a rookie now, Todd." Kero reminded right back to Todd. "You only captured 13 clow cards so you're still new at this. You only captured a quarter of the clow cards."

"Yeah…" Todd rolled his eyes. "I'm learning though so get off of my back!" Todd looked on the clow book and looked at the two pages that were devoted to Firey. Todd looked at the picture and read. "Firey, the fire elemental spirit born with great strength, ambition and determination. That's neat, is it aggressive like Watery?"

"The card is aggressive but not as aggressive as Watery. Earthy is aggressive too. All of the main spirits are relatively aggressive, it's part of the power elemental package. In order to be strong, you must be aggressive." Kero replied, taking a meditated stance. "Expect the unexpected and move forward."

"Fine, I will." Todd replied defiantly. "Good night Kero…" Todd said as he sank into his pillow. Kero flew up to his side and curled up. Todd and Kero settled into a deep sleep. Todd woke up early next morning and went to get breakfast early.

Todd ate his usual breakfast of pop tarts and extra sugary frosted flakes. Kero flew in after him and asked. "Are you going to eat that sludge every day?"

"Sure." Todd boasted. "I'll eat what ever I want. I'm going to school early today to talk to Sakura. I need to talk to her about the clow cards. I want to ask her a lot of things, like how to do Clow premonitions and other neat tricks. Do you want to come with me today?"

"Only if you get me some pudding. We have a world wide pudding shortage in here…" Kero complained. "Pudding is dry when the pizza population is overflowing! The refridgerator ecosystem is being threatened by the lack of pudding and the overpopulation of pizza."

"Fine!" Todd moaned. "I'll get you some pudding…"

"Woo hoo!" Kero sang as he flew into Todd's backpack. "I'll also help you with the clow cards."

"I'm certain that you'll definitely help me eat the pudding that I'll buy today…" Todd grumbled as he strapped his in line skates on. "Okay, let's go." Todd left the apartment and skated to the elevator. He pushed the button and went down to the third floor. Tatea boarded the elevator and they continued down. Todd looked over and stated. "You're up kind of early…"

"Well, for your information. I have Tai Chi soon before school which I use to relax myself. I might consider going to school…but if I skip, I take Martial Arts or maybe Judo." Tatea replied. "I often go to the Karate school after school to learn more martial arts techniques. I have a very full day…"

"How's Blair?" Todd asked, showing just a little interest.

"Blair's fine...he still can't believe that you helped him." Tatea replied. "I can't believe that you use your magic so openly. I can't stand it!"

"How do you know about Clow Magic?" Todd demanded. "Are you into the whole magic deal as well? Are you the Mysterious Stranger? Come on! Tell me! I won't tell anyone, not even Sakura!"

"I'm not the Mysterious Stranger! Even if I was the Mysterious Stranger, I wouldn't open myself up to you! Bad things may happen if the Mysterious Stranger tells who she really is."

"So it IS a girl." Todd replied cheerily. "I knew it!"

"Yes! Duh!" Tatea replied, annoyed. "The person wears a skin tight outfit and a cape with a mask. How many hooded figures go in that getup? I think that it looks stupid!"

"Well I…" Todd replied stupidly as they reached the bottom floor on the elevator.

Tatea got off and looked at her watch. She dashed off before Todd could even get another word in. Todd shrugged and continued blading out into the parking lot of the Kyoden Manor. Todd looked up to the sunny sky and said to himself. "This is going to be a great day."

Kero popped up from inside of Todd's backpack and looked around. Todd looked over to Kero and stared for a minute. Kero popped back into his school bag and replied. "Hmm, I thought I felt something...never mind."

"Really? I don't know either, I don't sense a clow card but…" Todd trailed off and continued his blading to see a woman and her baby carriage. Todd stared but smiled and continued blading. Todd said to Kero as they were approaching the curve to the school. "Well, when I get to school…I'm gonna get a glass of water or a pop or something…phew! I'm thirsty!" Todd rounded the curve and found that he turned back onto the Kyoden Manor. Todd stared at the sign in utter disbelief and panted. "Phew! I think I must have made a wrong turn or something…"

Todd continued blading to the street again to notice the woman and her baby there on the park bench Todd looked at them and they looked back. Todd gulped as the woman asked. "What's wrong? Are you lost?"

Todd stared and realized that this is the same woman that he passed earlier. Todd was perplexed and replied. "No, I'm not lost…I must have made a wrong turn or something…"

Todd returned to his path and skated, now a little worried as he made the turn. Todd found himself back at the beginning AGAIN! Todd looked around and grunted. He looked to Kero and said. "I feel a clow card and we're probably never going to get to it."

"What?" Kero asked, worried. "If we can't get to it, who knows what trouble it could bring!"

Todd and Kero saw Tatea walking up to him and she was angry. She marched up to Todd and looked him in the eyes. "What's the big idea? I can't make it to my Tai Chi lessons. I'm missing them because of your magic."

"This isn't me!" Todd replied, annoyed. "I'm not causing this, you kook!"

"I am not a kook you idiot! Would you please explain what is causing this then?" Tatea asked. "Is it a clow card because if it is..." She trailed off and looked at her watch. "My Tai Chi lessons are already starting without me!"

"Oh, who cares about your stupid Tai Chi lessons." Todd growled. "I have to capture this clow card with or without your help. Come on, help me out here!"

"No!" Tatea replied angrily. "Do it yourself, you moron!"

Todd walked up to the turnoff and stared ahead. What Todd saw was the street that led up to Reidenton Elementary. He saw Sakura and Li running up to him, but acting like they couldn't see him. Todd began yelling. "Hey, guys! I'm in here! Come on!"

Li, from the other side of the looking glass stared off into Todd's direction. Todd was right in front of him but Li couldn't see him. "Where do you think Todd is? He called us last night saying that he would come to school early today...I sure hope he isn't sleeping in..."

"He isn't! He isn't sleeping in...I just think that he could be studying the clow book and lost track of time. I don't think he would do this to us on purpose..." Sakura replied. "I believe he really wants us to help him..."

"No, he wants YOU to help him! Don't you see? He's so head over heels for you. I could tell right away. It's just...that..." Li replied, trailing off and murmuring. Then he blushed which made Sakura give him a weird look.

"He likes me? Well..." Sakura thought about it and began to blush. "I didn't know..."

"I didn't think of it that way..." Tatea replied, slithering up to Todd with a smirk. "No I didn't...but this is an interesting thought..."

Todd and Tatea suddenly stepped back and saw that Sakura and Li were walking up to them and stepped through the rift in the space time continuum and stared at Todd and Tatea. Sakura suddenly blurted. "Todd! I didn't see you."

"Yeah but I saw you." Todd replied, smirking. "You're now unfortunately caught in the trap."

 "What trap?" Sakura asked.

Kero flew up to Sakura and replied. "This is the work of the Loop card. Were trapped in a loop!"

Tatea ran up to Kero and pointed at it. Kero looked back and put his paw on his face. "Busted..."

"I knew all along that you were with Todd, Keroberos. I also know about the clow cards and the whole deal." Tatea replied, amused. "I really didn't need to spy on you guys though, because Todd uses magic so openly that I could have found out any time, Todd is such a rookie! Now, please capture this stupid card so we could go to school."

Todd walked over to the rift and put his hand out. The hand disappeared and Todd brought the hand back out. Todd was amazed but annoyed. "Here's the rift, how do we destroy it?"

Li got his talisman out and summoned his sword. Li looked over to Todd and stated. "The way we travel backward is through a portal. A doorway could be erected if we cut a hole in the door. Todd, you must summon the sword card."

Todd took out his pocket spear and chanted. "Oh Spear of Todd...power of magic...power of light...surrender the spear...the force ignite! Release!" Todd's spear glowed and flashed. The flash sent out a light and the pocket spear encased itself in an orb of light. The spear spun in the orb and grew to normal size. Todd took the Sword Card and threw it up in the air. Todd impaled the sword card with his spear and the card broke into a swirling mass of glowing blue energy that surrounded Todd's spear. Todd's spear transformed into a sword and Todd took his sword and nodded to Li.

Li nodded back and positioned his sword. "Like I said before, we can brake the rift by slicing a hole with our swords. We both create a hole by cutting one."

Li and Todd both swung their swords and made a diamond shaped hole in the rift and the rift vanished completely. Li motioned to the rest to cross the hole and they all ran up to the hole and stepped through it. Todd realized. "Hey! We could also use the through card to get through the rift, if we had it."

"Good, you're learning." Li stated as they turned back to the affected area. "Loop is going to show its visible form now. Get ready!"

A large elastic band like thing suddenly appeared in a burst of light blue energy. Todd positioned his spear and chanted. "Loop Card! Return to you your power return to you your power return to you your power return to you your power return to you your power return to you your power return to you your power return to you your power return to you your power, HEY!! QUIT IT!"

"Sorry, I forgot to tell you..." Kero replied. "Loop also has the power of making someone repeat the process of talking."

"That's not fair!" Todd yelled. "Watery! Release and Dispel!" Todd slammed the Water card on his spear and the card turned into a mass of blue flashes, collecting into watery. Watery appeared and Todd commanded. "Encase it in a bubble!"

Watery raised her arms and put them in front of her and a bubble flashed and appeared. The bubble zoomed over and encased the band in a bubble. Todd positioned his spear and commanded. "Loop card! Return to your power confined! Loop Card!!" Todd thrust his spear up and the omni glowing card appeared on the head of the spear. Loop snapped and flowed into the card. Loop's picture appeared on the card and he grabbed it. "Okay! I caught this annoying Loop card!"

"Great Capture!" Kero replied. "Awesome strategy!"

"Good work Todd." Li replied. "We captured that card in time for school!"

They all ran towards the school with Tatea trailing behind. Tatea laughed to herself and said quietly. "This is very intriguing...I wonder if Todd will be able to handle his road ahead..."

Todd and Sakura went to their locker and Todd got out his gear for school. Todd asked Sakura. "What do we have for school today?"

"I really don't know, I think we have Science and Math and Japanese this morning and Gym this afternoon." Sakura replied. "Let's go."

"Right, let's wait for Li and get to our duty." Todd sighed.

Li approached them and he had his school stuff with him. Todd, Sakura and Li walked into class and sat in their usual spot. Madison sighed and slumped in her desk, Todd looked and asked. "What's up, Madison?"

"The fashion outfit that I made for Todd on his very first capture bombed in sales. Obviously parachute pants aren't on everyone's ‘to get' list..." Madison replied. "Oh, well...I'm sure that the gangster trench coat idea will pull in big."

"I'm sure it will!" Sakura replied, assuring.

Tatea walked in and sat in the back, as usual and Jeremy bounded in and sat in the desk beside her. She looked over to him and sighed. Jeremy smiled at her and asked. "You good? I think that you're beautiful today."

"Ohh...I don't feel like talking to you." Tatea replied. "I missed Tai Chi. I'm in a bad mood."

Miss Mackenzie walked in and put her sandwich in her top drawer like always. She went to the front of the room and announced. "I'll now take attendance ... ... ... okay, I've taken it. Congratulations everyone. The flea market held yesterday was a big success. I only hope the future things that we do are going to do are going to be as successful."

Todd sighed and opened his books and said to Sakura. "Who'd have thought that reaching school would be such a great achievement?"

"Yeah..." Sakura replied. "I only hope that the rest of the day is as exciting!"

"Yeah right." Todd replied, slightly irritated. "What will the rest of the day bring for me?"

End Of Episode 13

Card Captured

Next time on Card Captor Todd.

Suddenly there was a scream in the courtyard. Everyone got up and ran outside. Todd looked outside to reveal that a giant beetle was scurrying towards him in the hall. Todd cried out and ran back into the classroom. "Wow!"

"What's wrong!?" Sakura shouted.

"There are giant bugs! Giant! Huge ones!" Todd stammered trying to mimic their size.

*       *       *

"What do you mean, Todd?" Sakura asked as she looked at herself and her surroundings. Sakura realized that the field they were in was the doormat. The desk of the administrator was like a huge building and they seemed miles away from the elevator. "Oh, I see what you mean. Everyone, we are now three inches tall, that little girl dressed in odd clothing who ran away was our size so that would mean that either she was affected or she was the clow card. And since she had weird clothes, I think it's a clow card!"
