"You know, I don't know…I could make something but I'm too exhausted to cook. How about pizza?"
"Sure, but there is tons of pizza in the freezer. We could just take one out and reheat it with the oven. Microwaving it makes it soggy…"
The pizza was taken out of the freezer and was cooked in the oven. They both ate some pizza and did the dishes. Todd was finally relaxed again.
"Do you have any homework?" Alicia asked as she sat on the couch and took out a magazine from her bag.
"Well, let's take a look!" Todd replied as he started rooting through his backpack. Todd realized that he had Math and Science homework and sighed. "Yes!"
Alicia and Todd heard a groan from Todd's room. They both got up. "What in the world was that?" Alicia asked, a little frightened.
"I'll go check…" Todd replied as he went to his room. He whispered to himself under his breath. "Kero, you messed up this time…"
Todd entered his room to see Kero floating up from his bed. He was limp as a rag and snoring, drool hanging from his mouth. Todd looked on with a bit of annoyance and went up to Kero. With little effort, he flicked Kero in the face with his fingers. Kero groaned and asked. "What?"
"Shut up!" Todd whispered. "Mom is in the living room! So go sleep in my drawer if you want…"
"Aw man! I hate it in there!" Kero complained quietly as he went to the drawer. Kero settled down on the clothes and closed the drawer.
"What was that noise?" Alicia asked from the living room.
"Don't worry, it was only the window." Todd lied. "I forgot to close it and the wind through the screen was making sort of a groaning noise."
"Oh…really?" Alicia replied. "Well! I guess we won't be calling 911 after all!"
"That's only in America…" Todd replied tiredly. "We just call the cops here…"
"Oh right!" Alicia replied, smiling stupidly.
Todd sat down and put his math work on the table. "Math is first…"
The hour was DULL and Todd got a little frustrated when he was doing one particular problem that was annoying. Alicia saved the day by pointing out that he missed a negative sign. Todd finally put the homework back in his book bag and took out the science work. The science work was mostly questions that involved logic and reasoning. Todd did those with little effort and put the work away.
"That didn't take very long!" Alicia commented as Todd rushed to the T.V.
"Ah! T.V! Time to jellifie my mind." Todd said cheerily as he turned on the tube. He was searching for his favorite show but couldn't find it. "What? What's this about?"
"The program has been canceled to be retooled, sorry for the inconvenience."
"WHAT?!" Todd shouted. "The show is being changed again?!"
"Well, since the show I wanted is canceled. I might as well have a bath." Todd replied as he went to the bathroom. "Do you need to use it?"
"No, go ahead." Alicia replied.
The water was up in no time and Todd got in, he then began thinking. "I wonder…the clow cards were created by clow reed but…I wonder if he made any other sort of magic? Oh well…*Yawn*" Todd fell asleep and began to dream.
A drop of water fell into a black pool of water. The ripples formed into an outline of Todd's face. "Uh oh…here we go again…"
Todd's spirit connected with his body and he found himself in the center of the Lasan shrine again. Todd looked up to see the Silhouetted Figure again. "Hello again, Todd."
"Why am I back here? Am I going to learn some more stuff or…am I going to be trained some more?" Todd asked. "I hope its something interesting."
"You are…going to learn something." The Voice replied. "The new lesson is a history lesson."
"Ohhhh History?!" Tood griped. "History is boring! I want to battle!"
"No, you must learn what takes place." The Silhouette continued. "Clow reed is a sorcerer. According to traditions, most sorcerers must follow guidelines in order to achieve mastery. Clow Reed, however was interested in creating his own form of magic. He called it the Clow. He created the spirits with pure will, but they shared his willful personality and were wild and could only be contained in cards. The cards are sealed only with an able wizard."
"Cool! I'm an able wizard!" Todd replied cheerily. "I caught quite a bit of the cards!"
"The cards would then be entrusted by a wizard who was chosen by destiny in order to hold the cards. Sakura Avalon was the last candidate and wielded the cards wisely. There however was a certain clow card..."
"...a clow card that is special in some way...?" Todd asked, sort of perplexed.
"The card is called the Void card. Its power is to make people vanish without a trace. The card is a very sad spirit who can only be contained by the very best of the wizards and is needed to defeat the dark one." The Silhouette continued. "When the card is captured and its spirit lifted, it becomes the hope card. The hope card is used to bind the elements together to defeat the dark one."
"How do you do that?" Todd asked.
"You will learn as you gain more experience, you'll also gain another technique for learning how to tell the future using the clow cards."
"Really? How do I do that? I've been trying to ask Sakura for ages...!" Todd asked, annoyed.
"Keroberos will tell you how to use the clow cards for this purpose. This ends our lesson." The silhouette replied. "You'll soon see the morning light!"
Todd looked about and saw himself being engulfed in white light. Todd lifted off the ground and flew up into the sky and woke up. Todd splashed up from the bathtub and cried out as he tripped. He splashed back down and landed on his butt. "Ouch!"
"What happened?" Alicia called from the kitchen.
Todd looked up and groaned. He called back. "Don't worry! I'm fine!" Todd let out the water and cleaned up the mess he made from tripping. Todd put on his robe and went to his bedroom. Todd flopped onto his bed and got out the clow book but turned to Kero and asked. "How about if you teach me how to use the clow cards for premonitions?"
"Sure! It's about time you asked me to do that...!" Kero replied cheery but annoyed. "You use your left hand in both shuffling and drawing the cards. You shuffle first and draw the cards...but don't look at them. You arrange each card like this. Put the first one on top and work your way down in a diamond shape, ending at the bottom. You then say this: Ancient cards of Clow...Give me vision now...Show me if you may...Who is standing in my way. Now you do it, but close your eyes while you do the incantation!"
Todd did the card arrangement as he was told and then chanted the spell. "Ancient cards of Clow...Give me vision now...Show me if you may...Who is standing in my way." Todd lifted his hands in a spell like way. The clow cards started glowing a green blue hue. A gust of wind flowed through the room and Todd opened his eyes. He turned to Kero and asked. "Well...is that it?"
"You'll look at the top card of the diamond first, try it." Kero said.
Todd took the card from the pile, and looked. The card was the windy card. "Windy."
"Uh oh!" Kero said out loud.
Suddenly they heard a sound from the kitchen. To Kero and Todd's shocked display, it was Todd's Mom. "What's wrong, Todd? I heard an uh oh!"
Todd got up in a rigid way and stated in a very convincing way. "I was just...listening to the radio and it called for rain!"
"Is that it? I can drive you to school..." Alicia replied. "It must be a sudden system or something...because I heard the weather was going to be fine tomorrow!"
"That's okay..." Todd replied but then began whispering to Kero. "So what does this card mean to deserve an uh oh...?"
Kero looked at him and whispered back. "Windy means that the other clow cards know that you are the card captor."
"That's it?" Todd whispered in an irritated tone. "They've known that since I fought the illusion card. What's so special about that? The power card tried to kill my mother, remember?"
They both look up as they went into flashback.
Alicia and Aiden smiled when the Power card approached them. Power smiled and giggled. Aiden asked. "Are you lost little girl?"
Power shook her head and found a large rock. She turned to Aiden and Alicia and smiled. Aiden asked. "Are you going to show us a trick?"
Power nodded and she effortlessly lifted the huge rock over her head. Alicia and Aiden clapped with approval and said. "Bravo!"
Power leered at Aiden and Alicia and chucked the rock right up and targeted them both. They both cried out and Todd screamed. "Now!"
Sakura slammed the time card with her staff and time stopped with the boulder only five feet above Aiden and Alicia. Todd ran over to the couple and moved them out of the way. Todd signaled Sakura and she let time resume. The rock smashed into the picnic site, smashing it and totally wrecking the whole site. Alicia fainted and Aiden was totally terrified. "That little girl almost killed us!" The flashback ended.
"I caught the power card, but how did she know where we were going?" Todd asked. "The clow cards are now stalking me?"
"The three cards that I'm drawing are...Illusion, Shadow...which is semi transparent, and Time...which is also semi transparent. Okay, why are two of these cards semi transparent?"
"You don't have these cards, so they show up as translucent copies." Kero replied. "The Illusion means that your next clow card will be hard to spot. The shadow card signifies that the card is of a mysterious nature. The Time card means that you'll meet the next clow card soon, very soon."
Todd flipped over the next card and asked. "So what does this bottom card mean?" Todd flipped it over and revealed the Lock card. "Lock."
"It has to do with doorways..." Kero replied while yawning. "Anyway, let's get some sleep for tomorrow."
Todd and Kero settled into bed, and eventually into a deep sleep. Todd woke up the next morning restless and a little irritable. Todd ran innately to the kitchen to fill his face with sugared up frosted flakes. Todd slugged it down and then went to the bathroom to brush his teeth and hair and put his uniform on. "I hate uniforms...they leave nothing to the imagination."
Alicia yawned sleepily and walked to the kitchen. She sat down at the table and yawned again. "I'm still sleepy...maybe I'll go back to bed."
"Thank you for rubbing it in!" Todd replied bitterly. "I hate waking up at the crack of dawn to go to school...unless there's something that's good today, like Gym and English or even a little math from time to time but I don't have a decent thing to do all day today...unless there's music last thing."
"What's so great about music?" Alicia asked, intrigued. "You didn't have music in the last year of your school..."
"Well, I'm actually improving myself. It seems impossible, but I'm managing to get better grades." Todd replied as he got his schoolbag ready.
Alicia handed him an orange. Todd looked at the orange and then stared at her. "What's this for?"
"Just in case you get hungry for something nutritious!" Alicia replied.
Todd walked to the door strapped on his in line skates and left the apartment. Todd skated to the elevator and went into it. The elevator stopped at third and Tatea got into it. At first Todd just returned to his thoughts but something occurred to him. "Hey Tatea, I just noticed that you ALWAYS come onto the elevator when I do...It's creepy."
"It is creepy, because I don't like you and I always see you every single day we have school. It is totally annoying how you're always there." Tatea remarked.
"Well EXCUSE me!" Todd scoffed.
The elevator finally reached the bottom floor. They both got off the elevator and Todd skated ahead of Tatea and eventually got to school. Sakura was waiting for him and she waved to him. "Hi, Todd! What's happening?"
"I learned about Clow readings from Kero." Todd replied.
"Sorry, I thought you needed most of the clow cards in order to do that spell." Sakura confessed. "If I knew you didn't really need the clow cards, I would have taught you how to a long time ago. So...come on, let's go find Li, Madison and Meilin to hear about what you..."
The bell cut her off.
"I suppose you'll have to spill it at lunch huh?" Sakura commented as she started walking towards the main building.
They both ran into the main building of the school and they quickly got to their lockers and got their junk out. They ran to class and managed to get in early. They walked to their usual seats and sat down. Meilin turned to Todd as he sat in his desk. "Well, what's happening?"
"Well...I'll tell you all at lunch. It takes a while." Todd replied as he got his math stuff out.
Tatea walked in and sat in the back of the room. Jeremy walked after her and sat in the desk beside her. "You feeling all right?" Jeremy asked.
"I'm fine!" Tatea replied, slightly annoyed.
"Well, I think something is bothering you!" Jeremy quickly remarked.
"You're bothering me! You're like an insect which lands on my porridge, the porridge putrefies and turns into a poison I wouldn't give to the rats in the cafeteria." Tatea remarked in a colorful way. "You'll be the end of the world as we know it!"
Jeremy sank down to his desk and sighed. "Shot down again..."
"Don't worry about it, I'm sure it'll only take ten seconds or so to repair the plane's damage. That way, you'll be available to be shot down again!" Tatea remarked. "The only good thing I see about you is that you have a remarkable ability to pick yourself up from a fall."
Miss Mackenzie walked in, she wore the calm, cheery expression that she always have and puts the sandwich in the top drawer of her desk, like always. She walks to the front of the room and raised her chalk and took a deep breath. The lesson began.
Class was DULL, Todd kept nodding and groaning, ready to fall into sleep but keeping himself from falling asleep. "I..I...I...I...I can't stop..."
Miss Mackenzie looked and them smacked the blackboard with the pointer, making a sound that made everyone jump. Todd was now wide awake and nodded to Miss Mackenzie, showing thanks. Miss Mackenzie smiled and then passed out the results of the last test. Todd looked at the 73 on the top and breathed a sigh of relief. "Life goes on."
The bell rang mercifully and everyone was sent to the next class. The class was English and managed to keep Todd's interest until the lunch bell rang. Everyone walked out onto the courtyard and the gang sat down at their usual table and Todd finally got to say it. "I learned how to do the clow visions."
"Really?" Li asked. "Don't you..."
"No, apparently you don't." Todd interrupted. "The cards I didn't have turned out to be translucent...and I learned that the Clow cards know I'm trying to capture them. My next card is going to be mysterious, hard to spot and the fight will take place soon. The fight will have to do with doorways and stuff."
"Wow..." Sakura replied. "But expect things to get a little more dicey now. The cards know you're a card captor so...they'll be even tougher to stop."
"Expect them to target people you know as well." Li said. "When Sakura learned that the cards knew about her, the Mirror card tried to hurt Tori. Sakura managed to capture the card."
"Right, and freeze targeted Sakura as well...well, the people around Sakura." Madison commented. "I almost was lost..."
"Wow...so I should expect the worst...!" Todd remarked.
They ate their lunches while thinking about the Clow cards. Soon, the bell to go back into school sounds and everyone went back into school. Todd's eyes lit up as he realized that gym was next. Gym was a lot of fun. This day, there was dodge ball Todd managed not to get hit and he hit four people around. The second game however, Todd got hit by Mashou and was out of the game. Todd's team lost the second game though...the bell rang after and Todd had to go to science.
Science was boring but Todd saw the lab instructions and the lab was interesting enough to keep Todd focused. The lab consisted of four stations and each area had to have the mystery solved. The class ended and the bell went finally. Todd could go home!
"Let's go to my house today, I have pudding." Todd said. "We also have a spelling test tomorrow...so let's go."
While they were walking, Madison gave Todd a photo. Todd looked at it and then stared. He turned to Madison and asked. "Is this thing for me?"
"Yeah! It's a battle costume for your next card capture!" Madison replied cheerily. "This one is my latest design!"
"Wow...this is pretty neat looking." Todd commented.
They made it to the Kyoden manor and walked into the main building. They boarded the elevator and made it to the top floor. Todd opened the door with his key, but something clicked and cracked and the door knob broke, and Todd let himself in and everyone followed. Todd looked at the doorknob and said. "The door knob is busted, It was getting harder and harder to open the door so...I guess the door broke after all. Can you guys look after the place while I go to the hardware store and buy a new door knob."
Todd roller bladed to the hardware store and entered the store. Todd suddenly felt something, but he ignored it. He walked to the door knob section and looked at the one that matched his old one. He picked it off the shelve and took it to the counter. He walked past the door section and stared into it. He was hit with another feeling and said to himself. "I'm getting a creepy feeling from the doors here...I wonder why?"
Todd walked to the checkout counter and was hit by another feeling from behind. Todd turned to the source of the feeling and it was none other then the door section. Todd sighed and mumbled. "I feel something wrong here...very wrong...clow card wrong..."
A door suddenly opened in the back of the door department. There peeked out a tall woman wearing odd robes. She giggled and then raised her hands. The hands started glowing a blue color and she sent out a wave of energy. The wave opened all the doors in the store, including the entrance doors. A shopkeeper looked at the woman and called out. "Can I help you?"
The woman went back through the door and out the closest door to Todd. She giggled an evil giggle as the Shopkeeper stared in utter disbelief. "How...how did you do that?!"
She raised her hands and touched them to the ground, a hole appeared out of nothing there and she sent that hole towards them. The hole actually moved towards them swallowing up everything that it was under. This freaked out the shopkeeper and he ran for the exit. He went through the door but nothing came out on the other side. The shopkeeper vanished.
"What on earth are you doing?" Todd asked angrily. "You're a clow card aren't you? You're the...Through card, correct?"
Through nodded and went back through the door and appeared in one of the doors near the back of the displays. Todd looked on, perplexed and said. "I'll capture you!" Todd took out his pocket spear and chanted. "Spear of Todd...power of magic...power of light....surrender the spear...the force ignite, release!" Todd's pocket spear glowed and rose up from his hand. An orb of light appeared and broke into a million dazzling sparkles that illuminated the whole store. Todd ran into the door section and stammered. There were over fifty doors in the huge room. "Did they have to have so many doors in this place?!"
Through suddenly rushed out of one of them and tackled Todd. Todd was totally caught off guard and was knocked onto the floor with a surprising force. Todd slowly got up and moaned. "Ow! Watch where your going!"
Through looked back and giggled evilly. She went back into a door and came out of another and came out from behind Todd. She tackled him again and he fell flat on his face. Todd got up more quickly and glared at Through. "That's it! NOW I'm angry! Now it's MY turn!" Todd suddenly positioned his spear and chanted. "Summon the force which comes from within! Magic Missile!!" Todd's spear gained a white glowing orb on the tip and he launched it into an open door. It flew in and he heard a shriek of pain from within. "Yes! I got it!"
Through came out of a door and smacked Todd really hard. The slap was so hard that he was knocked into the wall. Todd looked on as he saw Through lunging at him. "Jump card!" Todd suddenly smashed the jump card with his spear and leaped out of danger. Todd retaliated by chanting. "Magic missile!" Todd flung the magic missile at Through and hit with a loud POP! Through stumbled back but then leaped over Todd and back into a door to disappear. Todd took out the windy card and chanted. "Windy! I command you to arrange all of the doors in a line pattern! Windy release and dispel!" Todd slammed the windy card with his spear and the card broke into a mass of yellow energy which formed into Windy's shape. Windy appeared and wrapped around the doors and put them in a line. "Good work! Now stay on that side while I wait here on this side. She can now only come out in the front and back door because there's no room anywhere else!"
Sure enough, Through came out Todd's side and Todd magic missiled her upon entry. She shrieked angrily and tried to go back into the doors, only to come out the other side, where Windy was waiting for her. Windy summoned a blade of wind which smashed through upon entry. Through shrieked again and smashed windy to one side. Through leered at Todd and then slammed her hands down on the ground and created a hole which streamed towards Todd with great speed and it engulfed some of the doors that was in its way and the doors fell into the hole as it streamed towards Todd . Todd still had jump power so he leaped out of the way. Todd thought about the whole and said to Windy. "Don't let those holes get you or else you're a goner!"
Windy nodded and dodged a hole coming at her. The hole got rid of most of the doors as it streamed towards her. Through got rid of all the doors with each hole she sent after Todd or windy. There now were no doors left for her to hide in. Todd looked around and saw that and said. "You can't hide now! You might as well give up and come quietly!"
Through shook her head and began using her magic to create holes all over the place. She jumped into one of them and Todd glared at her. "Oh no you don't! Magic Missile!" Todd summoned another orb of light and sent it into the hole. Sure enough, the missile found its mark and Through cried out. Todd walked to a hole and shouted into it. "It's over, If you don't come quietly, I'll send missile after missile after missile after you and you won't have too much fun in there."
Through floated out slowly and she nodded. Todd positioned his spear and chanted. "Return to your power confined, Through card!" Todd's spear gained a glowing clow card and Through broke into swirling beams of light, each filtering into the glowing card. Through's picture appeared on the card and it floated to Todd. Todd took it and said. "There! That wasn't so hard now, was it? You'll have to undo all the damage you caused here though...so release and dispel!"
Todd slammed the card with his spear and Through was summoned. With a wave of her arms, all of the lost items that were swallowed up in her holes returned and so did the shopkeeper. Todd returned Through to her card form and returned his spear to pocket size. He ran up to the shopkeeper and asked. "Are you all right? Here's my money..."
The shopkeeper refused the money and said. "I don't know what happened but...I have a feeling that you fixed the problem so I'll give you this door knob on the house!"
Todd smiled and said. "Really? Thanks a lot sir!" Todd roller bladed back to the Kyoden manor and he entered his apartment and said. "Well, I got the doorknob so let's fix it..."
Meanwhile, on the bottom floor. Tejina was busy making some green jello. She finally stirred in the mix and she put it in the fridge. "There, I finished making the jello...are you happy now?" She asked, annoyed.
A creature flew into the kitchen and it smiled. "Thanks Tejina, But why didn't you help out?"
"I thought that he needed to get some practice so...I just thought it would be better that he do it himself..." Tejina replied. "I have a feeling that it turned out all right though..."
"Well, if you say so..." The creature replied. "Just remember not to tell them or let them find out, Okay?"
"Okay." Tejina replied assuringly.
Quotes from the next episode.
Todd woke up with sunlight shining in his face. Todd groaned and arose from his bed. He walked to the kitchen and made himself some breakfast. Todd was eating his super sugar bombs when a thought occurred to him. "Hey! Today is our field trip to the woods!"
Kero floated in after him groaning noisily. "What's that Todd? You're going on a trip?"
"Yeah, to the woods to collect samples." Todd replied as he crunched on more cereal. "It's for science. Do you want to come?"
* * *
They both laughed a chittering annoying but evil laugh which made Kero even more angry. "I was appointed by Clow Reed himself, you little cretins are no match for Todd here!" "Right! I almost forgot why we came here in the first place. If you want this card, you'll have to beat us in a fight in order to get to it. Yah hear me, Toad? Fight...Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fi..."
