Something's Missing

"It's the first day of summer!" Todd smiled as he opened the window to let the fresh...freezing air in. "Agghh!!" Todd closed the window in a hurry and he shivered. "Whoa! It's cold out, not what I'd expect normally."

Kero looked at him in a strange way and sighed. "Todd...it's winter! Winter is summer and summer is winter in the southern hemisphere."

"I know that!" Todd looked back at him and smiled. "I'll bet it's cold enough to make some ice! It's been cold for the past week and I had to buy a winter coat." Todd ran to his closet and threw it open. He got assaulted by the junk piled onto the top and it fell onto him. "Aagh!!" He cried out in protest. His head poked out from the junk. "Where is it?"

"Where's what? I'm surprised you can find anything in the closet seeing how there's always an avalanche every time you open it!" Kero frowned and flew around the pile. "You sure have a lot of junk!"

"It's not junk!" Todd protested. "These are rare family trinkets that were passed down from generation to generation!"

"Well...from what I see right now. Your family trinkets are...a monopoly set with half the pieces missing...an old soda can, yuck it's probably all moldy! Some old cut up comic books that are about seven years old. There's this ugly looking sweater here and...the boxes from all the video games you got in the past. This stuff REALLY is a pile of junk! I command you to clean your closet! Yuck...scrub your closet down or put an air freshener in here because it smells like cheese in here!" Kero landed onto Todd's head and looked down on his face. "There may be some junk that's as old as the samples from Sakura's dad's archeology class but junk is still junk."

"Fine! I'll clean this dump of a closet up!" Todd snapped. "It's the perfect way to spend the Sunday afternoon locked up in my room, cleaning up my cheesy smelling closet. You'll have to help me though..."

The cleanup began. Kero flew into the kitchen and got some garbage bags and flew back into Todd's rooms. He and Kero then sorted the stuff into two separate piles, one pile for keepers and one pile for the stuff to be thrown out. They threw out the monopoly board game and they threw out half of the more ragged comic books. Kero flew up to the top of the closet and knocked the rest of the stuff down to the floor, flooding Todd in STUFF. He looked up and glared at Kero who smiled back down to him. They continued to sort and trash, sort and trash. They finally got the stuff completely sorted out and they began the scrubbing. Todd ran and Kero flew into the kitchen and fetched a bucket and kero put cleaner in it. They dropped two rags in and went back to their closet of weird odors. Kero found some rotten fruit and threw it in the garbage and Todd and Kero started scrubbing. It took over 40 minutes to scrub everything. Todd was scrubbing the major areas and Kero was scrubbing the hard to reach spots. They managed to change the cheese odor to a lemon fresh scent. They waited for it to dry and they neatly put the stuff back where it was supposed to be and they both collapsed, tired from their 2 hours of work.

"Whoa...who'd have thought that cleaning the closet would take such a long time?" Todd asked. "I'm bushed..."

"Well...it was a major closet to clean." Kero replied proudly. "Only a major closet would smell like cheese. It wasn't as hard with Sakura's closet...she had a lot of junk but there wasn't rotting food in it."

"You and Sakura did this?" Todd asked, interested. "Just what did you find?"

"I'm not telling!" Kero smiled defiantly. "It would invade her privacy!"

"You're no fun." Todd replied tiredly. "What's gonna happen, now?"

"You wait for tomorrow when you have that field trip to Ice pond palace of course." Miss. Mackenzie smiled from the living room she also got up and went to Todd's room. "What have you been doing? Cleaning? I must say...the smell is a lot better."

"It doesn't smell like cheese or fish anymore!" Kero cheered.

"Too bad..." Todd replied, half smiling. "I kind of liked the smell..."

The rest of the day passed quite quickly. Todd did his homework involving the History paper and he played Monster Battle 2000X and Zylon Warriors VI with Kero for most of what was left of the day. Todd also had a nice relaxing bath and he went to bed early, kind of tired. He and Kero snuggled up and they both were asleep in seconds. A drop of water dripped into a black pool of water and Todd found himself in the Lasin Shrine.

Todd found himself in the center of the beautiful courtyard. He looked around as the mists sent a shiver down his back. He saw the Figure in shadow again and it floated up from him. "You still don't have thirty clow cards caught yet?"

"No I don't, I only have 25." Todd replied somberly. "There's something wrong...isn't there?"

"Yes...We've narrowed the possible candidates for the holder of the dark one's essence down to six possible people...all of which I'm sure you know."

Todd frowned and his shoulders drooped. "Who are they?"

The silhouette clapped it's hands. "I cannot tell you their names."

"How do I know then?" Todd asked, irritated. "I need to know!"

"Three clow cards representing their personas. Here they are:

1st suspect:    Shadow, Illusion, Earthy
2nd suspect:   Cloud, Twin, Windy.
3rd suspect:    Cloud, Flower, Windy.
4th suspect:    Dark, Light, Void.
5th suspect:    Sweet, Light, Illusion
6th suspect:    Song, Sweet, Flower

you got that?"

"So these clow cards represent the people's personalities?" Todd asked as he looked at the cards whirling around him. "I've got it. Thanks."

"I have nothing more to say to you...you shall soon see the morning light."

Todd's surroundings turned bright and he started to float off of the ground. He flew from the Lasin shrine and looked onto a giant alarm clock. Todd awoke with a start and Kero was staring in his face. "Time to wake up!!"

Todd pushed him away and arose quickly. "Kero! I was back at the Lasin Shrine! I have some news about the Dark one!"

"Spill it! If it's Lasin shrine news then it ain't no gossip!" Kero replied sharply.

"The dark one apparently is in one of six people I know!" Todd replied. "The figure in shadow didn't tell me their names but she did tell me about their personalities through clow cards."

Miss Mackenzie opened the curtains to his room and said. "You're late! It's almost time for school!"

"Right! I'll get changed!" Todd realized that and got up to change. Within moments, he was ready for school and snagged a piece of toast for the door. Miss Mackenzie packed him a lunch and he was on his way to school.

Todd skated to the elevator and Tatea got onto the elevator. She was wary and strangely alert. She turned angrily to Todd. "This is your fault, isn't it?!" She snapped angrily.

"What happened?" Todd asked. "Is it about the Clow cards?"

"Your stupid enemies tried to kill me last night." Tatea said. "One had Rabbit Ears and the other looked kind of like a fairy. They attacked me and punched me and I must have blacked out. The next thing I know...they were running away and they seemed to be terrified. I don't know what happened but they're YOUR enemies!"

"How do you know?" Todd asked, interested. "Sennyo and Sennae did this?"

"I guess...that's their names right?" Tatea replied. "I don't want to get attacked again...but I think they've connected me with you so they might know where you live! I don't think your Clow cards are safe here anymore."

"Don't worry about it. I think I'm more powerful than them so the clow cards are safe with me...why do you care, anyway?" Todd asked while taking out the clow cards.

"I had a dream last night...a dream where I was looking down on you..." Tatea smiled. "I had the coolest outfit on...I was wearing black and you...were wearing...it's stupid really."

The elevator door opened and they both got off. Tatea ran out the door and Todd was calling after her. "Wait! What color was I wearing? It's actually really important!" Tatea was out of sight by now and Todd sighed and continue to skate to school. He didn't see her but he saw Sakura at the gates.

"...Sakura..." Todd started. "Are you all right? I mean...from two days ago."

"I'm all right. I could hold out a lot longer than Li because I have more magic than Li you know. I kept time still for over 6 minutes...I must have blacked out." Sakura smiled and took out the Dream Card. "Here...you need this one a lot more than me."

Todd took the card and looked at her solemnly. "You sure?"

"Yeah! I only need the time card to help you and you need all the cards you can get. Don't you need 30 to get that special present from that figure you see in your dream?"

"Yeah...and I'm almost there!" Todd smiled. "Only four more to go."

Madison walked up to them with her camera in hand. She smiled at them both and asked. "What happened on Friday that caused you to faint? Tell the truth..."

"We captured the dream card. We had to go to Todd's house to capture it and it was actually quite a complicated thing. We had to both wake Todd up and snap him from his dream...but Todd also had to help us out. Todd...what made you think you were dreaming."

"Well...the world was perfect, too perfect. You...never mind. Anyway...it was when I opened the clow book. It's believed that dreams don't show actual and 100% correct information, just what we want or expect to see. The clow book is a written document, so there was concrete info...and dreams do NOT show concrete info." Todd answered. "It was a really cool dream, though. You were in it!"

"Was I in it?" Madison asked. "Well?"

"Yeah! You were in charge of stage production in the festival!" Todd smiled. "The job was perfect for you."

Li ran up to them and smiled. "We're going to go to Ice pond palace...did everyone bring their permission slips?" Madison and Sakura showed him theirs and Li turned to Todd, sort of smiling. "What about you?"

Todd smiled and sighed at him. "Oh Li...when your guardian is the teacher who put the trip together, you don't really need a permission slip."

"Oh right!" Li smiled. "I'm almost sorry for you!"

The bus pulled into the courtyard and everyone piled in. The bus was...small. Three kids had to cram into a seat and Todd was seated with Jeremy and Madison. The bus finally left a few minutes later and they were on their way to Ice pond palace. Jeremy smiled knowingly and with a warmth at Todd as he asked. "Have you ice skated before?"

Todd looked up and shrugged at him. "Dunno...Isn't skating just like in line skating?"

"Not really!" Jeremy smiled.

"He's right, Todd!" Madison said knowingly. "Sakura isn't that great at Skating either..."

"Really?" Todd almost gasped. "She's full of grace and beauty! She has to be able to skate well!"

"Are you sure that's the Sakura we know?" Meilin asked, kind of smug. "I'm a lot more graceful! Li and I did skating lessons for the last two years. We make an excellent Skating duet, right Li?"

Li wasn't paying attention and nodded to Meilin unknowingly. She smiled and looked back to Todd and Jeremy and Madison. "See?"

"Wow! Who are you?" Jeremy asked. "I've only seen you around...you know Toddy here?"

"Don't call me that!" Todd protested.

"Well...we've known each other for a little while. I've met him through Li and Sakura. You're...Todd's friend right?"

"Right, we are." Jeremy beamed.

The bus finally made it to Ice Pond Palace and everyone got off, thankful they didn't have to spend more time cramped up on that bus. Todd stretched his legs and groaned. "Man is it good to be out of there...the bus was so cramped!" Todd stepped onto an ice patch and stumbled. "Whoa! Wow! Ice!"

"If you're impressed by how much Ice you see there, you're going to be absolutely ecstatic when you go into Ice pond palace!" Li commented as he walked by. "There it is!"

Todd stared at the huge building and he saw it was new looking and huge. It probably has more than one ice rink. They walked into the building and they entered a large plaza that looked quite nice. There was a desk and some computers and plants scattered about. They were a pretty big place. A man wearing the ice pond palace uniform walked up and asked them if they were class 6-2 and Miss Mackenzie showed them the appointment and they were let into Rink #3. They walked in an saw it could easily be a rink for Hockey tournaments as well as anything else. A zamboni was cleaning the ice in preparation for them and they could get rental skate from an area to the side. Everyone took out their skates and others got some rentals. Todd had to get a rental and they all tried them on and they fitted. Time to Skate!

Todd stepped out on the ice and stumbled. "Ugh...this isn't the same as roller blading..."

Jeremy got onto the ice and skated to the center of the rink. He skated faster and rounded each of the sides. He jumped and skated backwards. "Don't worry! It's easy!"

Everyone got onto the ice with little problems. Some people like Sakura and Madison as well as Meilin did quite well. Some like Li, Zachary and Todd didn't. They smiled and had a good time. Sakura skated up to Li and asked. "You all right?"

"Yeah but...Meilin must have took lessons back home." Li replied as he pointed to Meilin who was skating much better than him. "Meilin really took a shine to skating ever since after we captured the Freeze card for the very first time."

Sakura gasped slightly and asked. "Do you think it'll attack here?"

Li looked around and shrugged. "I don't think so...it's not getting colder and I don't sense anything unusual..."

Meanwhile on Todd's small share of the ice, he fell onto his fanny again. "Ugh! At least I landed on a spot with cushions. Hey Jeremy!"

Jeremy skated up to him and joked around him. "Hey Todd! Nice landing. Someone didn't beat your leg with a crowbar right?" Jeremy helped him up off of the ice and looked at him. "You don't look like you're having a good time falling on your butt so I'll help you out." Jeremy took his hand and towed him to a wall. Jeremy looked at Todd's skates and saw his lace work. "Whoa! You need to tie your laces tighter then that! Your skates'll be all floppy if you don't"

Todd looked at them and shrugged. "You need to tie your laces tight?" Todd tied them and looked at him and asked. "Like this?"

"Right...problem one solved...next, you need to move. You basically need to move your legs the same way that you'd skate by in line skates." Jeremy advised him. "Now...show me your form."

Todd skated around and then turned and skated back to him but kept going and crashed into the wall. Todd once again fell on his butt. "Ow! What now?"

Jeremy smiled and helped Todd back up. "Okey dokey...your form is good because you've been roller blading. The last thing you really need to know is how to stop...you mostly do a twisting motion and stop by scraping like this." Jeremy skated and came to a sliding stop. "See? Now you try..."

Todd attempted it and it actually worked. "Well! That's great! Thanks Jeremy!" Todd smiled at him and looked closer. "Are you cold? You kind of look apple cheeked..."

"Yeah...I guess it is a little chilly in here. I'm gonna sit out for a little while." Jeremy skated away from Todd and went to the heater and the snack bar.

Todd nodded as he attempted Jeremy's skating methods. He skated up to Sakura and said to her. "Check it out...I'm skating!"

"You're pretty good. I'll bet the roller blading we do paid off!" She smiled. "Madison's great don't you think?"

Todd checked Madison's moves out and smiled. "Yeah...she must have practiced! You want to get some snacks?"

"Sure! Let's go to the snack bar." Sakura replied as they skated to the entrance of the ice. They took their Skates off and went to the snack bar. Todd and Sakura ordered a hot chocolate and sat down. Jeremy wasn't there anymore and Todd looked around but there was no sign of him. They waited until the hot chocolate was drinkable and slugged it down and ate the marshmallows. Todd and Sakura threw their garbage in the can and were about to go back onto the ice when Todd noticed his skates were gone. "Where did my skates go? Where are my skates?" Todd asked as he looked around the bench. He looked under it and behind it but there was no pair of skates in sight. "Hey! These skates are a rental! Where are they?"

Sakura was also looking for them. "I saw them one minute and not the next!" Sakura espied them lying on the bench far away. "There they are! Let's go!"

They ran to the bench which the skates were on and suddenly, they sprouted pinkish wings and vanished right in front of them. "What on earth! Was that a clow card?"

"Yeah...it's the move card." Sakura replied seriously. "Let's go tell Li and the others!"

Todd caught Li on the side of the rink. "Li, let's go. We've got trouble."

Li nodded and took Meilin with him and they all leave the rink. Madison took her skates off and they found the pair of Skates resting next to the Coke Machine. They ran to them and it disappears. Todd glared at the Skates when they reappeared next to the entrance to the rink. "There they are!" Everyone ran to the door and they vanished again. They saw them next to the receptionist's counter below her and they disappeared again when they approached the pair of winged skates. "Man, this is getting annoying!"

"There they are!" Sakura pointed at them, leaning against the door outside. They all ran to them and they vanished. they followed the skates to the back of the building. "Why do I get the feeling the Skates are leading us somewhere...?"

They cornered the skates to the back of the building. Todd took out his pocket spear and chanted. "Spear of Todd...power of magic...power of light...surrender the Spear...the force, Ignite! Release!" Todd's spear glowed and flashed and finally revealed itself at full size. "Move..." Sakura was shushing him. "What's wrong?"

Sakura smiled and took out her key of star. "Key of Star! Release!" Sakura's key of star sent out millions of glowing stars and turned to full size. "Time Card!!" She slammed her staff down on the Time card and she continued. "Freeze the moment!!" With that, the color of the surroundings of the area inverted and time was stopped. "Quick...while I've stopped time."

Todd ran to the paralyzed Move Card and commended as he positioned his spear. "Move Card...return to your power confined!! Move!!" Todd brought his spear down and a glowing card appeared. Move was drawn into the card and the picture appeared on the card. The card flew to Sakura and she gave it to Todd. "You keep it. You need it!"

"Thanks again!" Todd warmly replied. "Let's go back before questions are asked."

They ran back to the Ice Pond Palace and went in and walked back into the rink. They were suddenly hit with a polar wind upon entry. The temperature had dropped to -19 C and was still dropping. They looked in horror as everyone on the Rink were frozen as statues on the sides of the rink. Li turned to Todd and said. "I sense a clow card...the freeze card."

"What? Another one?" Todd asked almost in disbelief. "Two clow card in like 30 minutes is a record."

"Oh no!!" Sakura gasped. "I think those two clow cards were in on the whole thing! Move wanted to get us away from the ice rink so Freeze could attack! These frozen people will die if we don't seal the Freeze card! Let's go!" They ran down to the rink level and saw everyone was frozen and a disturbingly large creature was swimming below the ice. "Huh? I think I see someone on the ice! But who?"

There was someone on the ice who was calling out to them. "Help! I'm stuck!"

"It's Jeremy!" Todd said, kind of surprised. "I'll...have to save him." He took out the pocket spear and began to chant when Li stopped him.

"Wait! Are you going to help him with your magic? How will you explain that?" Li asked. "You have to think it through!"

"I'll find some way to tell him." Todd shrugged as he began to chant. "Spear of Todd...power of magic...power of light...surrender the Spear...the force, Ignite! Release!" Todd's spear glowed and flashed and finally revealed itself at full size once again. "Let's fly!!" Todd struck the Fly card and grew wings on his spear. He flew over Jeremy and attempted to grab him up when Freeze lunged out of the ice and struck them both from the side. Freeze knocked Todd and Jeremy clear off of the spear and they crashed down to the other side of the rink. They were surprisingly okay and Todd got up. "Fire Card!! Release and dispel! Attack!!" Todd brought his spear down on the card and it broke into red swirls that formed into the Firey spirit.

Firey and Freeze lunged towards one another and crashed into one another. They crashed in an explosion of fire and ice. "Shield Card!! Protect both of us from the ice and fire." Todd slammed the shield card and a blue barrier formed around both of them. The fire and ice bounced off of Todd's shield.

"What are you?!" Jeremy asked. "... Todd?!"

Todd sighed and nodded. "Yes...Jeremy. It's me..."

Firey and Freeze fought more and 'locked horns' again. Firey summoned a fireball and it crashed into freeze and broke the giant ice whale in half. Freeze was not down and out and regenerated its tail. Freeze countered with an ice beam which narrowly missed Freeze. Firey and Freeze attacked one another and Todd gasped as Freeze used its tail to slam firey against the wall of the ice rink.

"Oh no...I don't think Firey's strong enough." Todd said, worried.

Li jumped onto the ice and took out his sword which he summoned during the fight. Li took out the storm card and chanted. "Storm Card! Help Firey defeat Freeze!" Li struck the card with his sword and the card swirled into Storm.

Storm saw Freeze and started spinning around. She soon spun so fast that she created a tornado which picked up speed and flanked Freeze. Freeze, as large as it was still was being tossed and turned around in the large tornado and eventually got spit out of the tornado and crashed against another wall. Firey took his chance and launched 4 fireballs which scored four direct hits. Freeze was down and almost out but only for a short time. Todd looked over to it and summoned the power of jump to leap up there. "Freeze Card! Return to your power confined!! Freeze card!!" Todd brought his spear up and a glowing card appeared on the tip. Freeze broke into a million ice shards and they flowed into the card. Freeze's picture appeared on the card and the temperature went back to normal. Todd took the card. "That was hard!"

Everyone including Jeremy ran up to him and congratulated him for capturing the card. They all turned to Jeremy and Li asked. "Why aren't you frozen?"

Jeremy smiled, kind of embarrassed and replied. "I went to the bathroom when it appeared and it froze everyone while I was in the jon. I went back onto the ice not noticing it. Um..." Jeremy turned to Todd and Todd sighed. "Todd...why didn't you tell me you had magic powers?"

"I didn't want to drag you into the business. I didn't want to put you or anyone else in danger... that's why we work...relativily secretly..." Todd scratched the back of his neck nervously. "I don't want friends to suffer because of that."

Jeremy ran off at that, quite quickly and Todd turned in his direction as Jeremy ran away from them. Todd stared after him and gave a relatively blank look. "...What was that about?"

Everyone's ice melted off of them and they couldn't remember what happened. They talked about it and they all shrugged. Miss Mackenzie walked up to the group and said. "I saw you saved your friend...very heroic."

"Um...Thanks. What's gonna happen now?" Todd asked.

"It's time for us to go home." Miss Mackenzie smiled. "The bus leaves in twenty minutes so let's get ready." She walked away from them.

"Let's go home Sakura." Madison said warmly. "We still have a history paper to write for tomorrow right?"

"Oh yeah! I almost completely forgot about it!" Sakura gasped and they both walked away.

Li sighed. He knew he was going to have to help Meilin with hers. He turned to Todd and said. "Great capture...But do you really think that was the best thing to do? Now Jeremy knows about the Clow cards..."

"It'll be all right...don't worry too much about it." Todd nodded and they both walked started on their walk back to the snack bar and the rental place to return his pair of Skates that almost  As they went to the lockers to put away their rental skates, Todd saw Jeremy leaving the rink. He sighed and put his stuff away and gripped his school bag. He looked back on the rink and stared long and hard at the ice which taught him many things about his friend.

Cards Captured

Next Time on Card Captor Todd!

Meilin smiled as she hung up the phone and she went to her room. "I need to make this night a special night for them both. I want them to be happy with one another...maybe they'll fall in love. Sakura and Todd make the most perfect couple! They're so much better a Couple than Sakura and Li." Meilin smiled as she got out some paper and looked up in pondering. "Her diary said that she liked him...I'll try to turn that like into a love! They'll be happy together and if they're happy then I'm happy because I've got Li all to myself now!"

*       *       *

"...I don't know!" Todd sighed to madison. He looked himself over...he was dressed in a tuxedo that was black and had a pink flower on his chest. "You really think I look good? Thanks again for covering the charges for the night..."

Madison smiled. "I think you and Sakura could work quite well together! Meilin also made all the reservations! This night will be one you'll never forget! I've got everything covered with Meilin's help. I've got the limo, the dinner reservations, the clothes, the gown for Sakura and all the rest of the stuff you need. Provided that you don't say anything insulting, you and her will be well on your way to becoming the cutest couple!"

"And does Li know about this?" Todd asked warily. "I don't want to gain a girl but lose a friend..."

"I've taken care of that too! Meilin is taking him out to the same restaurant!" Madison chirped cheerily. "It'll be great!"
