In Season 2, Gennai gave them a digicore from Azulongmon to give the Japanese Digidestined Digimon the power to Digivolve into their Ultimate forms, until they used up that power. He also helped them by sending his counter-parts, who look exactly like him (Benjamin in New York, Hogan in Australia, Jackie in China, Jose in Mexico, and Illia (pronounced ee lee uh) in Russia ... there wasn't one in France, at least we didn't see him) to the 6 points in the world where all the Digidestined brought all the renegade Digimon to send them back to the Digital World. The last thing he did to help the Digidestined was to give Gatomon her tail ring back.
