The couple in the clearing jumped at the sound and Tsuyoshi looked around wildly for the source of the voice, Ara. When he turned back to the girl by the lake, she had vanished. He scanned the clearing for a clue, but there was no sign of her anywhere. Sighing heavily, he turned on his heel and walked back into the forest where Ara was looking for him. Hovering in the dense thicket of trees, Dark Angel stared at the spot where he had stood for a long time after he was out of sight. *********** Next day Earth Negaverse Camp Near Lyncania *********** "Angel, that was not smart." Kayan lecured her back at the camp. Dark Angel played with the black ribbon around her braids. She wasn't even listening to her brother. She was thinking about Tsuyoshi. She just couldn't get her mind off him. He was so handsome, his face was engraved in her mind. And he reminded her of someone.... someone important... "Ange, your not listening to me!" Kayan finally snapped. "You're thinking of going back again, aren't you?" "No, I'm not!" Dark Angel defended herself. "Yes, you are. I can see it on your face. Ange, if you go back there, you'll be defying Queen Beryl. Don't ruin our chance to be promoted before we even meet her!" Dark Angel stood and turned to her brother. "I won't be defying if I don't get caught," she said, and ducked out the tent flap. "Angel!" he cried after her. But she was gone. "Baka," he muttered as he sat back on his cot. ********** Dark Angel wandered through the wood to the clearing with the lake. Not seeing the man she was seeking, she sat again by the lake and swished her bare feet through the water. Without thinking, she began singing, for the world around her just compelled her to, as though she had no control over her actions. "Ever wondered how your conciense looks? Seen pictures of angels And devils in your books Heard stories of right and wrong Guideance in your head You know, if it weren't for me You'd be better dead 'Listen to the devil Listen to me How can you believe Something you can't see? Close your eyes and wonder What I'm doing now I'm sitting on your shoulder Keepin' you off the ground 'Ever wondered 'bout first sight love? Sent by the angels Their symbol: a dove Born to fly in heaven Feathered and free But I've got a job to do Take my hand and come with me 'Listen to the devil Listen to me How can you believe Something you can't see? Close your eyes and wonder What I'm doing now I'm sitting on your shoulder Keepin' you off the ground 'I'm an angel, baby, born to fly Right up till the day I die Love me now and take me there To that castle in the air Leave me not and give up sin Either way, you cannot win Take your pick, make your choice Will you listen to that voice Whispering inside your ear? Or just pretend that you can't hear? You can't hear... 'Listen to the devil Listen to me How can you believe Something you can't see? Close your eyes and wonder What I'm doing now I'm sitting on your shoulder Keepin' you off the ground 'Listen to the devil Listen to me How can you believe Something you can't see? Close your eyes and wonder What I'm doing now I'm sitting on your shoulder Keepin' you off the ground 'I'm sitting on your shoulder Keepin' you off the ground..." The last note lingered in the crisp air of September, but not a soul apeared by the banks of the lake. Dark Angel sighed, then reprimanded herself for being disappointed. She could not understand why she felt this way about some man she had met for a full thirty seconds. What was this feeling that gave her butterflies in her stomach every time she thought of him? Angry- at herself? Tsuyoshi? her feelings?- she shrugged off the problem and turned toward something she could do right now: bathe. She hadn't had a bath since... goodness knows when, and the water of this lake looked clear enough. Striping off her clothes, she tested the water. *********** Once again, Tsuyoshi had escaped the noise of the cramped cabin and made his way to the remote clearing. He was nearing the lake when the same crystal voice as the night before cut through the silence of the forest. "Listen to the devil Listen to me How can you believe Something you can't see? Close your eyes and wonder What I'm doing now I'm sitting on your shoulder Keepin' you off the ground 'I'm sitting on your shoulder Keepin' you off the ground..." Creeping forward as the song ended, Tsuyoshi wormed his way into the bushes on the edge of the clearing and searched for the woman from before. She was standing on the shoreline, legs swinging in the water. Her back was up against the depths of the dark forest and wasn't visable. She didn't notice him. As the last tone faded into the night, she looked around her curiously, as though expecting someone. Seeing nobody, she turned and seemed to ponder her current situation for a moment. After a minute, she turned toward the lake and, to Tsuyoshi's shock, began to undress herself, revealing what was left of her perfect figure that had not been displayed (which wasn't much). After her clothes were in a safe pile on the bank, she dipped one toe in the water, and then seemed to jump into the air. Suprised, Tsuyoshi looked up- only to find her hovering about ten feet above the lake. It was then that he realized that she sported a pair of coal-black angel's wings sprouting from her back! She watched the lake for a few moments, then poised her hands above her head, folded in her wings, and dived. ************ The Moon ************ "Mika! Quick, we need you!" Luna called to the passing Queen of Mercury as she hurried down the hall, red alarm still blaring loudly. "Luna! What happened?" Mika asked, concerned. "We need you down at the infirmary. Alorana and I found Ka'lyra Meihou's body in the throne room! She's alive, but barely! Three ribs broken, a fractured wrist, a concusion and an assortment of various bruises and cuts." Luna explained hurridly as they walked toward the hospital wing. "Not to mention," she lowered her voice and looked around anxiously, "We think she may have been raped." The Mercurian Queen gasped. "I'll take a look at her and see what I can do." Luna nodded. "I know you'll do your best." They continued their walk in silence. Upon reaching the infirmary, Mika quickly took charge. Examining Ka'lyra, she rapped out orders to the others for what she needed. They complied quickly, knowing this could be a matter of life and death. Mika worked with both physical and magical skills, but after four hours of hard work, the harried queen left the room with a forelorn expression. Luna met her in the hall. "Your suspisions were correct, Luna. She was raped, though by whom I cannot say, but no baby was fertalized. We can thank the gods for that." "Will she live?" Mika looked at her through sad hollow eyes. "I don't know, Luna. I really don't know," she whispered. ************ Earth Royal Camp Asia ************ "I know where Angel is!" Bunny repeated. "That girl, the one who attacked you, that was Angel!" "Buns..." Malachite groaned. "I guess they flamed you more than we thought," murmured Jadeite. "Bunny, how can that be Angel?" Darien countered. "Angel's gone, Buns, you know that. Your imagining things. Try to control yourself." Zoycite pleaded. "It was Angel! I know it was!" Bunny cried. "Bunny... let us know when you imagination calms down." Jadeite told her quietly, and left the tent. The others followed until only Nephlite was left. "Well? Do you think I'm crazy too?" Bunny demanded angrily. "They didn't say that." "Yes they did! They all think I'm nuts! Why couldn't that be Angel, huh? Give me one good reason why that can't be Angel." "That's not what I'm here for." "Huh?" "Do you really believe that that was Angel?" "No, I was just trying to see how far I could push my friends before they thought I was over the edge." she said sarcastically. "Yes I know that was Angel." "I believe you. You don't have to yell at me." "You believe what? That I've lost it?" "That that was Angel." "How do you know? Why do you believe me and not them? You've known them for years and I've only lived here for a couple months." "I read it in the stars." "What?" "The stars. I can read the stars. They tell me things no human would know. They show me prophesies." "Wait a minute- you KNEW this was going to happen? And you didn't tell anyone? Didn't do anything to prevent it?" Bunny was standing now, too angry and upset to calm herself. "Neither I nor anyone else can change the hands of destiny." "Destiny?" Bunny spat. "This was *destiny*? If this is destiny, then destiny sucks." "Oh, destiny is very cruel. Often I wish I did not know the things I do, that the stars have revealed to me. I see things which I wish I could prevent, yet it is forbidden. Sometimes I believe that I have been given the hardest road to walk. There are some things you are better off not knowing. As they say, ignorance is bliss." he stood and prepared to leave the tent. "Nephlite. I think you were given the hardest road to walk. I hope that someday it will be worth it for you." "Thank you, Lady Bunny." But she was already asleep on her cot. He smiled. "Sweet dreams... princess." ************* END ************* OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH.........0_0 I would like to appoligize for that chapter; that has got to be my worst attempt yet. Predictable, the first to parts were obvious and just gave already known information, the only part that really went anywhere was the last one. I hope you can work from this crap, Corta! Writer's block is a terrible monster. I believe it to be my worst enemy. I hope everyone at least liked my song! Anyway, if you liked this addition, congradulations! Flame me (because I don't really expect anything else, though praise WOULD be nice) at sailor.serenity@verizon.net or praise Corta at Moonie_Girl_Corty_Chan@hotmail.com Corty-chan will be writing the next part. Ja ne!
