Chapter 17: Love Is In The Air

James had brought the Jeep around the front of the gym and parked it by the police van. One by one, the Officers were dragging the half asleep men and woman out of the gym and into the back of the van. One of the Officer Jenny’s had to call for more vans, as there were so many people to arrest. Jessie, James, Josie, Dalel and Team Twerp waited by the Jeep for the Officer Jenny who went looking for the surveillance cameras to come back. After a few more minutes, she did come back.

"Alright, I’ve looked through the videos and I agree with you, there’s no evidence for pressing charges."

Jessie and James breathed a sigh of relief.

"However," she continued, "Because you are in Team Rocket, we cannot be sure that you won’t try to, for instance, blow up a Pokemon Centre." She mocked

Jessie and James gulped and laughed nervously.

"So, if you really do want to go free, there is only one way. You’re going to have to leave Team Rocket."

Jessie turned to see one of the Officers bringing out a fully awake, angry, and handcuffed Giovanni. He looked in their direction and scowled.

"Well, it looks like Team Rocket down anyway. With the Boss arrested." Said Jessie.

"Well that settles it then. You can go free."

Jessie and James smiled at her, then at each other. As Officer Jenny walked away, Jessie and James flung their arms around each other and cried happily. Misty smiled at, and then turned to Ash.

"Come on then Ash, we’ve gotta get back to Johto if your ever gonna get your next badge."

"Oh yeah, I’d completely forgot, let’s go."

"Hey hold on a second." Said Jessie, not hugging James anymore, but holding his hand instead, "You can’t walk all the way back, we’ll give you a lift."

Team Twerps eyes nearly burst out their sockets.

"You’re offering us a ride?" asked Ash in disbelief.

"Well it’s the least we can do, you did help us get Pikapuff back after all."

"Pika!" It agreed, still sitting on James’s shoulder.

"Pika?" Pikachu asked

"Pika." Pikapuff answered

"Pika pikachu!" Pikachu giggled

"Pika pikapuff!" Pikapuff giggled back.

Everyone laughed at the pika conversation, and for once, there was no tension between the two groups. But strangely enough, it was Meowth who was laughing the hardest. James looked down at the cat.

"What’s so funny? What did they say?"

"Ha, Pikachu asked if youse two are in love and Pikapuff answered yeah but dey would never admit it…yet. Hahahahaha!"

James and Jessie blushed bright red while Meowth continued laughing. Jessie quickly whacked Meowth around the head.

"Well, let’s get going shall we."

With that said, she got into the passenger side of the Jeep and waited for everyone else.

Team Twerp piled into the back, while James got into drivers seat and handed Pikapuff to Ash, who put it in the back with Pikachu, who immediately stated playing with each other.

James wound down the window to see Josie and Dalel still standing there.

"You two coming?"

"No, we’re gonna stay here for a while and sort out the Team Rocket headquarters." Replied Dalel.

Josie lent into to the window and gently kissed James on the cheek. "We’ll be fine, I’ll call you later."

"‘Kay"

James wound the window back up and waved goodbye to his newfound sister.

"Oh! Togepi!" Misty shouted

"Togei togei."

Misty turned around to see Togepi playing with Pikachu and Pikapuff. She sighed a sigh of relief.

"Where do you lot want to be dropped off?" asked James.

"Charachi City," replied Brock.

"Yeah, then Ash can finally challenge the Gym Leader." Mocked Misty.

Chapter 18: Diamonds Are Forever

"Well here we are." Said James, the Jeep coming to a halt outside the brand new built Pokemon Centre.

"Thanks guys!" said Ash, climbing out the Jeep.

Jessie wound down her window and lent her elbow on top.

"I guess you don’t have to worry about us capturing your Pikachu any more huh."

"Guess not." Said Ash

"Cya around." Said Misty, waving goodbye, as the Jeep drove off into the distance.

"It’s gonna be weird not having those three showing up anymore." Said Brock

"Yeah, I kinda miss them already." Said Misty, "But you know what? I think they’re gonna be a lot better off now they can spend some time with each other."

"Why?" asked Ash, completely oblivious.

Misty sighed.

"Oh never mind."

"So where do we go now?" asked Jessie.

"How’s about we all go back to da hideout? If Team Rocket’s gone down, den we might as well live der till can get a getter place. No ones gonna bother us in da middle of da forest"

"Good idea Meowth." Said James.

@~>~>~~

"Well, I dunno about youse guys, but I’m going up ta bed, I’m pooped."

The trio had made it safely back to the hideout and had started to clear up to the mess. After putting plastic over the broken windows, fixing the door and generally tidying up, the three had collapsed onto the sofa, completely worn out.

Meowth plodded up the stairs and shut the door, just about ready to fall asleep on the spot.

After a few moments of sitting in silence debating weather or not to go to sleep, Jessie and James finally realised that they were alone. At the same time they turned towards each other and both blurted.

"Jessie/James there’s something I need to tell you."

They stared at each other and burst out laughing. It was just like them to say the same thing at the same time. After they stopped laughing, both become embarrassed again. Jessie edged her way over to James and sat right next to him. She slowly placed her hand on his, which was resting on his knee. James looked at her hand, and then slowly moved his head to face her. Jessie was staring straight back at him, their lips only a few inches away. Still blushing, Jessie just stayed there and looked into his eyes. She was sure of it, she DID see love in his eyes. Love for her. And also trust. James trusted her, he loved. Jessie kept on repeating this in her mind. She too loved him, she trusted him. She loved him, he just had to love her, she could see it in his eyes. Her heart fluttered thinking this, there was only one thing she wanted to do.

"James I…I know this is going to sound really, really, pathetic, coming from me, and this is really hard to say…"

"…Jessie."

Just by saying her name James had Jessie’s attention fully.

"I, I think I know what your going to say, and if I’m right, then it’s exactly what I want to tell you."

Jessie gasped quietly and held James’s other hand, bringing them together and holding them tight.

"I know that this would probably be hard for you to say this…so, I’ll say it for you."

Jessie sat there, waiting for James to say the words, to say the words that she had wanted to hear from him for so long.

"I…I…", James blushed and looked straight into her sapphire eyes, searching for confirmation that Jessie would be alright with what he had to say.

"Say it James." Jessie couldn’t bare it, she had to hear it, "Please say it."

James smiled shyly at her. He knew it would be all right; all that was left was to confirm it.

"I love you."

Jessie burst into tears and wrapped her arms around James neck, burying her face into his shoulder.

"Oh James…I love you too!" she wailed.

James hugged her back and gently stroked her hair. Jessie pulled back from him and looked back into his eyes, keeping her arms around his neck. James stroked her cheek gently and smiled shyly again.

Jessie leaned forward slightly and held her breath. James knew what she was doing and also lent forward. They both closed their eyes and gently, ever so gently, their lips met. Instantly the world around them disappeared, as Jessie held James as tight as she could. The gradually the kiss became more passionate, as James cupped her delicate face with his hands. After a while, Jessie broke the kiss, as her need for air become more desperate than her need for James. She opened her eyes to see James staring back at her lovingly. She sighed deeply and snuggled up to him, resting her head on his chest. James couldn’t believe that this had finally happened, it was like something out of a fairy tail. Well, it was defiantly a happy ending. The hansom prince got the girl.

He closed his eyes and held Jessie like he’d never let go. After a while, Jessie spoke.

"You know, it’s not that bad that we’re not in Team Rocket anymore. We never really we’re good at stealing."

This gave James an idea. He smirked and blushed.

"Well I think your good at stealing."

"How?"

James blushed and raised Jessie head so he could look at her.

"Because you stole my heart."

Jessie smiled sweetly and kissed James on the cheek.

"Oh James. Your so sweet."

Jessie kissed him quickly on the lips, still a little embarrassed, then snuggled back down. James then realised that Jessie still hadn’t told him something.

"So umm, Jessie you were going to tell me why you thought we would be best friends when we first met."

Jessie smirked, "You should know James Diamond, haven’t you heard that saying?"

James frowned, "What saying?"

Jessie looked back up at him and gently pressed her lips to his while whispering.

"Diamonds are a girl's best friend."

The End
