Lara Jenson walked slowly around the trees with a sketchpad under her arms. She had just been sitting for two hours on tree stump that was twenty feet from the edge of a cliff, which over looked the vast ocean. That spot was her favorite spot to sit in; she would go there to think, to relax and watch the sunset, and most of all to do what she loved to do the most, which was to draw. Lara was a fantastic artist. She could draw almost anything. Yet she would never sell any of her drawings despite how much money she could make with them. Lara stopped when she came upon the border of the woods. She now stood on a hill that overlooked a countyside view. As she walked a little further she was able to see a small house come into view. It sat at the bottom of the hill along with scattered trees, which included an apple tree. When she walked into the house she put her sketchpad on the table and got a glass of water. She sat at the table and looked through her mail, sorting it into good and bad piles, and it always seemed that the bad pile was bigger than the good pile. As she did that the phone rang. She answered with a, "Hello?" On the other line was her neighbor, Mrs. Thomson, who lived half a mile away. She was an older lady in her sixties and had a heart of gold. "Hi Lara. You near the TV?" "No, why?" "Oh! Quickly go turn on channel 20...no wait channel 24," said Mrs. Thomson. "Okay, but what's on that's so important," she asked as she turned on the TV in the living room. "There's some weirdo that's going through the studios...oh now he's on channel 29." Lara turned to channel 29 and saw a bunch of people starring at the ceiling. Then she flipped to channel 30 and saw what all the commotion was about. A large green figure came up through the floor. He stopped and asked the man sitting at the dest a question picking him up by the neck, and then he threw him to the floor. The person smiled at the camera then introduced himself. "I am Cell," he said with a big smile on his face. Mrs. Thomson started to speak to Lara. "See? He's been going through the floor of every studio. I don't know what he's doing, but I can see trouble coming." Lara heard Mrs. Thomson's voice, but she wasn't listening to what she was saying. She starred at the TV watching and listening to this Cell. "For those of you who don't remember me, take a close looke at my face," Cell said. "The big monster of Nicky Town. I am the evolved form of that creature..." Lara's eyes got big. That's the guy responsible for all of the deaths? But how...Lara thought to herself. "I knew that guy had to be trouble!" Mrs. Thomson's echoed through the phone. Lara didn't hear her at all this time. The phone wasn't even next to Lara's ear at the moment. She was almost hypnotized by this strange person on TV. He mentioned something about a tournament he was holding. Next he gave directios to the ring he made somewhere in the desert. Before she knew it this Cell blasted a hole in the wall and blew up a mountain in the distance. "The tournament will begin in nine days. Good luck!" Cell flew through the hole he created and disappeared in the distance. "Can you believe this? Now he wants people to line up at his doorstep so he can kill them. Lara? Are you still there? You haven't said a thing," Mrs. Thomson said. Lara hearing her name put the phone back th her ear. "What? Oh, yeah, it's amazing..." "Well, I think the police better put a stop to this guy." Lara continued to talk, but mostly listen to Mrs. Thomson. She walked back into the kitchen and picked up a pen and took off a scrap piece of paper from the refrigerator. On it she began wring the directions Cell had given, which she had memorized. She didn't know why she memorized those directions, but she wrote them down anyway. She hung up with Mrs. Thomson and sat at the table. She reread the directions about three times, and as she started reading them for the fourth time she saw her sketchpad out of the corner of her eye. She reached over and pulled the pad to her. Then she realized why she had memorized those directions. |
