Make A Wish
Chapter 16 - Make A Wish - Anime - http://maxpages.com/cassiesfanfic/Chapter_16
Goku continued to train on the Grand Kai’s planet. He was still stumped on why Cell had turned away from the crystal ball. He thought he was being nice, but Cell didn’t seem to care. Maybe seeing her when he can’t be with her just hurts too much, he thought.
In HFIL Cell still sat on the mats in jail. He slept, dreaming about Lara. In the dream he saw her running towards him with a big smile on her face. Then Seru jumped up onto his back and started laughing. Cell hadn’t moved or even said a word since Goku left. He continued to attack himself with regrets. Why? Why was I so stupid? I had the chance to change…but I was still too obsessed with the tournament and proving that I was perfect. Now I know; I’m not.
Back at the Grand Kai’s, Goku was taking a short break when Baba appeared. “Oh, hey Baba,” he said.
“Hello Goku, King Kai. I thought you might be interested in seeing this, Goku.”
“What?”
Baba waved her hands over the crystal ball. A young boy with black hair and pink eyes appeared. He was out in a field and looked as if he was training himself. At first Goku thought it was Gohan, then realized it wasn’t. “Who’s that?”
“Its Cell’s son. I guess Cell must have trained him.”
Goku watched the boy fighting an invisible opponent. “He doesn’t look that old.”
“He’s not,” replied Baba. “He’s only five years old.”
“Five?” He’s really young to be there all by himself. I wish Cell didn’t do what he did; then the kid could have a father, he thought. He remembered when Gohan was that age. “That’s it!” Goku yelled.
“What’s it?” King Kai and Baba said in unison.
“He can have a father.”
“Goku, what are you talking about?” King Kai asked.
“I think it’s awful that the kid is growing up and even training himself without a father.”
“I think it is too, but what are you getting at?”
“Don’t you see? Cell can be wished back with the dragonballs!”
“Goku are you crazy!?”
“No! I think that Cell has learned his lesson. He must’ve been so upset that he couldn’t bare to see that girl in the crystal ball.”
King Kai put his hand over his face. Didn’t I tell him that? “Goku, I know you mean well, but wishing Cell back to life is a great risk. He could go on a rampage again and destroy Earth.”
“I know that, but if he does Gohan can just finish him off again. But I don’t think Cell would. He didn’t when he was down there for 24 hours. I think he would be under control if he was happy; and being with his girlfriend would probably do the trick.”
“Goku…I don’t like it…”
Baba cleared the image from the crystal ball and sat on it again. “Goku, I hope you know what you’re doing. It would be a shame if Earth had to go through that torture again.” After that, she flew away.
“Well, King Kai?”
King Kai thought. “I guess you know what you’re doing. But when Cell tries to destroy Earth again, don’t say I didn’t tell you so.”
“Alright! Then I need your help to contact Krillin.”
“Go on…” Goku put his hand on King Kai’s shoulder and waited for the signal that Krillin could hear him.
Krillin was lounging around on a beach chair at Master Roshi’s. Goku’s voice scared him half to death. “Hey Krillin!”
“W-what? Goku? Is that you?”
“Yep, sure is. Hey, buddy, I have a big favor to ask of you.”
“Uh, sure. What is it Goku?”
“I need you to collect all of the dragonballs for me. Will you do that?”
“The dragon balls? Goku are you planning to come back?!”
“No, but I do have another wish. I’ll tell you when you get them all. Okay?”
“Um, okay.”
It wasn’t long after Goku had asked the favor that Krillin gathered all of the dragonballs. He placed them on the ground outside of Kame House. Goku had been waiting, and when he found out that the dragonballs were ready, he told Krillin to wait a few minutes and he’d get back to him.
“Goku, I thought you were going to make the wish,” King Kai said.
“Oh, I am. But I thought I’d tell Cell first.” He didn’t give King Kai a chance to reply. He used his instant transmission to go down to the HFIL jail.
All the prisoners in the jail, except Cell, looked up in surprise. Frieza backed up against the wall. Goku didn’t pay any attention to the others. He walked over to Cell, who still sat on the mats.
Cell noticed Goku was standing right in front of him. He looked up and saw Goku smiling. “I hope you’re not here to torture me again with that crystal ball of yours…”
“No. I’m sorry I did that,” Goku said. “I have a secret to let you in on.”
“What secret? Goku, what are you talking about?”
Goku smiled and put his hand on Cell’s arm. He used his instant transmission to bring them back to the Grand Kai’s planet. Cell stood there in disbelief. What’s Goku trying to do?
“Okay, now to tell Krillin the wish,” Goku said walking over to King Kai.
“Goku, I demand to know what you’re up to,” said Cell.
“Oh, well, you’ll see.” He put his hand on King Kai’s shoulder. “Krillin? You there?”
“Yeah Goku. So what’s this wish?” Krillin asked.
“This may sound strange, but when you call the dragon, I want you to wish Cell back to life.”
“What!?!” Krillin yelled in disbelief.
“You want to what?” Cell asked.
Goku turned to him. “You heard me. You’re being wished back to life.”
“I don’t understand. Why? After all the things I’ve done, you’d take this risk?”
“I don’t see it as a risk. I saw your son training himself. I think you should be there with him. I know I wish I could be with my son again,” said Goku.
Krillin interrupted. “Um…Goku…are you feeling okay? Why would you want to wish Cell of all people back?”
“To make a long story short Krillin, Cell’s got a family that he left.” Goku explained.
“A family?” Krillin couldn’t believe what he just heard.
“Trust me, Krillin,” said Goku.
Krillin shrugged his shoulders. As he called forth the eternal dragon, Goku thought of something. “Krillin! Hold on a second!”
As if Goku was behind him, Krillin turned around. “What is it Goku?”
“Krillin, before you wish Cell back, wish for…” He turned to Cell. “What’s that girl and your son’s names?”
Cell looked at him. “Lara and Seru. Why do you want to know?”
“Okay,” said Goku. “Krillin, first wish Lara and Seru to where you are, and then wish back Cell.”
“Um, okay.” Krillin turned back to the waiting dragon.
Shenron spoke to him: “Speak. What is your first wish?”
“Um…I wish for Lara and…” Oh shoot! What’s the other name? Oh yeah… “And Seru to this spot.”
“It shall be done,” said the dragon. His eyes glowed a bright red.
Two figures came into site. They looked around in fear. “Mommy, where are we?” Seru asked. He looked up at the large dragon. “What’s that?!”
Lara put her hands on his shoulders. “I don’t know.”
“Don’t be afraid…” Krillin said. “Goku, now I should make the second wish?”
“Yeah. Go for it.” After he said that to Krillin he turned to Cell. “I wish you luck with your new life. Just remember, if you try anything, Gohan will be there to take care of you.”
Cell smiled. “I don’t know what goes on in that head of yours, Goku. But,” he said, “I thank-you.”
“Yeah. I hope you’ve learned your lesson, Cell.”
Krillin looked back up at the dragon. “Shenron, my second wish is that Cell is to be brought back to life.”
Lara thought this guy was crazy. What’s he talking about? Cell can’t come back
“Your wish will be granted,” Shenron said. His eyes glowed red again.
Cell gave a half grin to Goku as he disappeared from the Other World.
Lara looked on in confusion. Then a familiar figure started appearing in front of the dragon. Cell looked at his hands and then at the rest of his body, assuring himself that he was alive once again. He looked up and saw Krillin, who looked scared. Then he heard his name. He turned around to see Lara and Seru. “Lara…” he said.
Tears came to Lara’s eyes. “Cell…” She ran over to him and jumped into his arms. He held her tight.
“Daddy?” Seru looked at his mother and father. Cell looked over to him and outstretched his arm. Seru ran into him and Cell picked him. He held both Lara and Seru tightly in his arms, as if to never let go.
“I promise I’ll never leave you again,” he assured them.
“I’ve heard that before. Is that a definite promise?” Lara asked.
“It’s definite,” Cell said.
“My work here is done,” said the eternal dragon. “Fare thee well.” He vanished and the dragonballs flew apart in different directions.
Cell put Seru down and still held Lara; and then he noticed Krillin still standing there. They three looked at him and smiled. Cell slowly flew up then turned and flew away. Seru followed yelling, “Wait for me!”
Krillin watched in shock. “Well, I’ll be,” he said out loud to himself.
Back in the Other World, Goku thanked Krillin. King Kai put a hand on Goku’s back. “Goku,” he said, “I think you did the right thing. Now they’ll all be happy.”

Cell, Lara, and Seru flew back to the house. Cell was flying fancy with zigzags and twirling and Seru tried to keep up. “Come on, Seru. You’re going to have to do better than that if you want to keep up with me,” Cell said laughing.
“Yeah, well you cheat!”
“How’s that?”
“I don’t have wings!” His parents laughed.
Cell looked at Lara. She smiled and put her head against his chest. He smiled and kissed the top of her head. Thank-you Goku, I won’t misuse this second chance. Cell and the two people he held dear to him flew off into the sunset.
