Lara sat on her knees, starring at the spot Cell had just laid. She was crying, but she was in such shock that she didnt make any sounds. The tears rolled down her cheeks and fell to her legs. The Z fighters didnt know what to make of this situation. Never had any of them seen a villain with a girlfriend, if that is what this girl was to Cell. Knowing her pain on losing a loved one, Trunks knelt down beside Lara. He put a hand on her shoulder. Are you going to be okay? Lara didnt look at him. No Trunks looked at the others. They shrugged their shoulders. Trunks tried to give Lara soothing words to make her feel better. I dont know exactly what was going to between you and Cell, but I can see that he meant something to you. I know what its like to lose somebody so suddenly. I lost my father, and friends to androids. Hearing Cells name and the word androids just made her feel worse. She sobbed softly. He he promised me that he would win the tournament Well, now at least the earth is safe, said Trunks. Whats that supposed to mean? Cell wasnt going to hurt the earth! He told me he wouldnt, Lara looked at Trunks. You dont understand I loved him and now hes gone She started crying even harder than before. Trunks saw that mentioning Cell wasnt making things any better. Do you want me to take you home? Lara didnt respond at first. Then she said, Cell was supposed to take me home Trunks was trying to avoid the subject of Cell, but obviously thats all that was on her mind right now. I know but Ill bring you home since he cant. Do you want me to? Lara nodded slowly. She couldnt stay there any longer. She could still see and feel Cell in her arms. She slowly stood up and starred at the ground. Okay, put your arms around my neck and hang on tight, Trunks said. Laras memory flashed back to the first day she met Cell. Put your arms around my neck and hang on tight. Thats what Cell said to me She tried to push the thought out of her mind so she wouldnt break down crying again. Trunks brought Lara home and made sure she would be okay. Lara told him she would be and he left, once again expressing his condolences. Lara opened the door and walked inside. She sat at the kitchen table and starred out into space. She started remembering how she had met Cell in the first place. She could still hear him saying those first words to her So, what brings you all the way out here? Whats wrong? Cant you speak? At least shake you head or something I was so scared of him, she thought out loud. Then everything just sort of happened. Her throat became dry from crying so hard. She got up to get a glass from the cabinet when she saw a box of donuts sitting on the counter. The memories came flooding back again These are really good, she had said. You should have one. No thanks, Cell said. I think you should have one, she kept telling him. She tried forcing one into his mouth. Eventually she got him to take a bit. Happy? He said. Yes The tears filled her eyes again. She decided she didnt want anything to drink anymore. Then the phone rang. At first she wasnt going to answer, but then decided she should. Hello she said sort of dully. Oh Lara! Did you hear? Turn on the TV, quick, said Mrs. Thomson on the other line. Lara didnt feel like asking questions. It didnt even dawn on her what she would see on the TV. A reporter was on with a desert scene in back of him. If youre just tuning in folks, we have great news for you! Cell has been defeated for good! And we owe it to our champ Hercule for giving advise to the person who gave Cell the final blow This hit Lara like a lead ball. Mrs. Thomson said, Isnt that the best thing youve heard all day? I was so happy when Lara could be heard crying on the other end. Lara? Are you okay? Lara didnt answer; she just cried. Lara, Ill be right over. Okay? A few minutes after hanging the phone up, Mrs. Thomson was knocking at the door. When Lara didnt come, she let herself in. When she walked into the kitchen, she found Lara sitting on the floor with the phone still in her hands, and she was crying. Mrs. Thomson quickly rushed over and knelt down beside her. Oh Lara, whats wrong? Lara looked at her with tear filled eyes. C-Cell What about him? Hes dead I know. Thats a good thing. Lara exploded again. No its not! No one understands! Its not a good thing! He left me! Then she said more calmly, He promised Mrs. Thomson was shocked at what she had just heard. He left you? Lara, what are you talking about? Lara turned and started crying on Mrs. Thomsons shoulder. Oh Mrs. Thomson I didnt tell you because I didnt think you would believe me. I fell in love with Cell You had a crush on him you mean? Didnt you know he was bad? No he wasnt a crush I met him I went out and drew him and it just sort of happened from there. He was so nice to me and and he promised he wouldnt leave me Oh Lara Mrs. Thomson gave her a comforting hug. That night Lara sat at her desk in her room. In front of her was the drawing of Cell. Oh Cell She said. I miss you so much. I can still feel your presence If you promise not to be so scared of me Ill let you draw me if you wish. You would do that? I said I would didnt I Lara sat there drawing Cell. He stood off the tournament arena with his arms crossed, and a half smile on his face. He tried to get a sneak peak at the drawing when she took a break. She gave him a hard time about it. When she was finished, she said to him, So what do ya think? Its very good. Im impressed Lara didnt even realize a tear had escaped her eye. It landed on the paper; she quickly rubbed it away so it wouldnt ruin the only picture she had of Cell. She decided the best thing she could do now was go to sleep. However, as she lay in bed she felt something inside her, a sort of feeling that Cell was still alive. She got up, put her shoes on, and ran up the hill and through the woods. When she left the woods she looked up. There in front of her stood Cell. He turned around and smiled. Then she blinked and saw nothing. There was nothing standing next to the tree stump. I was hallucinating, she thought. She took a few steps towards the tree stump, then stopped and looked at it. The memories came back again I havent eaten anything since this morning. You better go eat then, Cell said. I probably should. Do you want anything? No. As she walked away, she got the courage to step up onto the tree stump, put her hand on his shoulders, and give him a kiss on his cheek. Then she left without turning around That memory made Lara smile. If I didnt do that, then I bet he never wouldve come back, she thought. A cold sea breeze hit her and she shivered. I better go home before I catch a cold. When she turned around she saw the tree Cell and her had slept under. She quickly left before she started crying. Anything that had to do with Cell brought back memories, and most of those made her cry. When she was back at home and in her bed she looked out her window at the moon. Eventually her eyes became heavy and she fell asleep. In her dreams she saw Cell. It was a dream filled with the memories of them flying together and their first real kiss. As she slept, a spirit stood next to her bed. This spirit couldnt be seen nor heard, but he stood there and watched her sleep. He knelt down at her bedside and stroked her blue hair. Before he left, he gave her one last kiss on her cheek, and then vanished in the moonlight. |
