Lara Jenson awoke in her bed. The son’s bright rays beamed through her window. However, this morning was like none of the rest. She wasn’t alone. She lay in a villain-turned-good’s arms. He had just been wished back to life the day before. And she loved him more than life itself. He had changed her life. Lara yawned and put her hand on Cell’s. He pulled her closer to him.
“Good morning,” Lara said quietly.
“Good morning,” Cell repeated. He nuzzled his face in her hair.
Lara looked over at the clock sitting on her nightstand. It read 6:07. Lara stretched a bit and started to get up. She stood up and bent back. Cell got up as well and stood up next to her. “I don’t want to go to work,” Lara said to him.
“You have to go to work?” Cell asked. “But I just got back.”
“Well, you’re here for good now, right?” Cell nodded. “I have to go. Seru’s a fast growing boy with a huge appetite.”
Cell stretched and left the room. He walked down the hall past his son’s room, noticing that he wasn’t in it. Now where did that boy go to, he thought. He walked into the kitchen and found the young boy stirring something at the counter. “What are you doing?” Cell asked.
Seru turned around. “Oh, mornin’ Dad! I thought I’d make breakfast. Mom deserves a break.”
“You can actually cook?”
“Oh yeah. I always watch Mom. I can only make simple things though, like eggs and pancakes and stuff.”
Cell didn’t say anything else. He walked over to the window. Lara came into the kitchen and saw her young son making breakfast. “Oh thank-you, Seru.”
The three sat at the table and at the food. “It’s good,” said Lara. Later, after everything was picked up, Lara was gathering her things as she talked. “I’ll be at work till one, then I have to run over to the school and enroll Seru for the up coming school year. I shouldn’t be home any later than three. Okay?”
Cell was looking out the window with his arms crossed, and didn’t respond to her. Seru sat on the counter and said, “Do I have to go to school? I hear it’s not so great.”
“Yes, you have to go.” Lara kissed him on the forehead. “Be good for your father.” She went over to Cell and tried turning him around. Cell looked down at her. “I’m sorry, but I’ll be back before you know it.” She kissed him good-bye and walked out the door.
Cell and Seru watched her drive away. Cell didn’t move and said, “So what do you do all day?”
“Anything I can find to do. Hey! Do you want to fly around with me?” Seru gave his father pleading eyes.
Cell laughed. His feet left the ground. “Well? What are you waiting for?”
Seru smiled and flew above his father. They flew around having small races to see who was faster. Of course, however, Cell was still faster than his son.
They flew over a small house in the countryside. Outside, a teenager sat on the ground playing with his younger brother. Out of the corner of his eye he saw two figures fly by. He jumped up in surprise. “It can’t be…” he said.
His younger brother looked up at him. “It can’t be what, Gohan?”
Gohan still looked at the sky. “Goten, I’ll be right back. I just saw trouble fly by.” Gohan flew up and raced towards the two people flying ahead.
Cell sensed a large power that he recognized behind him. He stopped and looked back. Seru flew past him, then stopped and looked at his father.
“What’s the matter?” Asked Seru.
Cell didn’t answer. Instead, he waited for the visitor to reach them.
Gohan stopped about twenty feet from Cell. He still couldn’t believe what he saw. I must be seeing things, he thought. I destroyed Cell a long time ago…
“Well Gohan,” said Cell, “long time no see.”
“Cell,” Gohan said, “What are you doing here?”
Cell smiled. “You look surprised to see me.”
“I am,” Gohan replied. “You’re supposed to be dead. I saw you die. How can you still be here and go unseen for so long?”
Cell laughed to himself. “I was wished back.”
Seru was completely confused. “Dad, who’s that?”
Gohan looked at the small boy hovering next to Cell. He looks about Goten’s age. “Cell, you let that boy go. I’m ready to fight you right here and now.”
“Let the boy go? I think not. Why would I want to do that? He happens to be my son,” said Cell.
Figuratively, Gohan’s mouth dropped to the ground. “Your what? Stop trying to kid me.”
“I’m not.”
“I am his son. My name’s Seru and if you’re planning to fight my dad, you can plan to fight me too,” Seru threatened.
Cell laughed at his son. “That won’t be necessary Seru. There won’t be a fight.”
Gohan dropped his guard. “That’s it, I’m totally confused. He’s your son…someone wished you back to life…and you haven’t killed anyone?”
“Nope. And I’m not going to. You’re making a mountain of a molehill. I was only flying with my son. I wasn’t going to kill anybody.”
Gohan felt like an idiot. Not going to kill anybody…has a son…was wished back…Gohan didn’t know what to do now.
“If you don’t mind, Gohan, we’ll be on our way,” said Cell.
“I swear Cell, if I find out you did anything, I’ll kill you just as easily as I did before.”
“You won’t have to bother.” Cell didn’t say another word and flew off. Seru followed.
“That’s just too weird,” said Gohan before he flew home.
After a while, Seru asked his dad, “Was that the guy that killed you in the tournament?”
“Yes,” Cell replied.
Seru didn’t ask anything else about the guy he met that day. He knew from what his mother had told him, that Cell didn’t except the fact that he wasn’t the strongest in the world.
