Thanoi
Thanoi are also known as 'walrus men'. They are slightly larger than the average human and considerably stronger. They predominantly live in the polar regions of Krynn, and are fiercely territorial.
Thanoi dwell in tribes, where might is right, the chieftain being the mightiest warrior/hunter amongst them. They train polar bears to serve as their trackers and guards. Thanoi can only wield basic hand-held weapons since their fingers are short and stubby. However they are immune to the cold due to their long exposure to extreme freezing temperatures, and can hold their breath underwater for extended periods of time.
Thanoi usually keep to themselves and merely hunt the animals of the wild, although occasionally they will ally themselves with other evil races if they have similar goals. Thanoi worship few gods, and the few that bother to worship any, generally favor the Sea Goddess, Zeboim, as their mistress.
During the Fifth Age, the Thanoi swore allegiance to the white dragon lords and the overlord Gellidus in order to survive. Many of them migrated to Southern Ergoth to dwell in the Frozen Wastes and to serve their master there. Others chose to remain in Icereach where the various tribes often wage war on eachother for dominance, however all Thanoi tribes in Icereach still swear fealty to Cryonisis and Frisindia.
