Summary: Goku takes care of ChiChi when she becomes feverish and passes out. What'll happen when she wakes up to see Goku taking care of her for once? This is one of my first DBZ fanfics, especially since it's a romantic fic. So enjoy and lemme know what you think! This is just a random storyline with no exact moment so it's kinda AU.

ChiChi was just completing the task of drying all the dishes from dinner when Goku came in from training with Piccolo. Piccolo had gone back to Kami's Lookout and as usual, Goku had grown hungry again. He stepped inside, pulling off his shirt to reveal his sleek and well-built chest. ChiChi barely acknowledged him, placing the final dish in the cupboard where it belonged. She let out a faint sigh, which to human ears would have gone unheard. But to a Sayajin's sensitive hearing, it made Goku look at his wife. He blinked at ChiChi as she slowly walked to the table and laid out the tablecloth again to make the table looking pretty enough to look at (but not to eat off of in a Sayajin household).
"ChiChi? Are you alright?" Goku murmured. She looked at him with a hint of delayed action in her movement. ChiChi merely smiled. In reality she felt like shit... "I'm fine, Goku-saa. Nothing's wrong with me." she replied simply.
Goku nodded reluctantly, for some reason not believing she was all right for a moment. She was so pale...he hated whenever she didn't take care of herself. She had always put her family before herself. Ever since Gohan was able to breathe she would watch him and make sure he was always alright. Now ChiChi looked horrible and Goku wanted to help her. He went to say something when ChiChi began to sway slightly.
"ChiChi!" He gasped as ChiChi suddenly fell in a heap to the floor.
Goku caught her quickly before she could even touch the floor. He cradled her gently in his strong arms and could immediately feel the warmth radiating from her body. And it was only March...Goku bit his lip and stood with ChiChi in his arms, carrying her to their bedroom. He laid her down and covered her with blankets gently. Goku looked her over and shook his head.
'She overworked herself...poor thing...' Goku thought sadly.
He grabbed a basin of water from the kitchen and put some ice inside, along with a wash cloth. He re-entered the bedroom and sat on the bed beside ChiChi, putting the basin on the nightstand. Before putting the cloth on ChiChi's forehead he looked at her hair. ChiChi always wore it up in a bun, with the two strands dangling down beside her face. It cupped her face so delicately. Goku thought it emphasized her beauty. He reached up and gently undid the ribbon that held up the bun and let ChiChi's black hair fall around her. Goku looked down at the ribbon in his hands. Without even having it close to his face, Goku could smell ChiChi's familiar essence in the ribbon.
'Lilacs...that's what she called them...lilacs...' Goku recalled.
He remembered the name of the flower that ChiChi's shampoo was. He always thought of it as another purple flower. But when they sat in the woods together one evening they sat in a patch of lilacs and ChiChi looked so beautiful amongst the flower petals...Goku smiled, a faint blush creeping to his cheeks. That was the night Gohan was conceived...well, rather, that's where he began to be conceived...they finished it in the bedroom. Now a maturing young man, it seemed such a distant memory...
Goku snapped from his daydreams of the past to the present and ChiChi's current status. He laid the now cooled wash cloth across her forehead as his beloved slept. Goku ran his fingers against a warm cheek, caressing the soft patch of skin that made his body tingle. Suddenly it struck Goku...he never told her how he felt...how he still felt at that very moment. Goku could feel the guilt rising as he tried to recall the last time he told her he loved her before going out to train or visit Bulma or go to Master Roshi's or see Krillin.
'No wonder you're so overworked...I feed off of you, leave you to clean up and stay home alone until we go to sleep. And then I do the same thing over and over again...' Goku thought brokenly.
He picked up ChiChi's hand gently and laced his fingers in hers. Goku sat down on the floor still holding her hand and closed his eyes. He was tired from training, but now this rest could give him a moment of contemplation. He fell asleep with his head against her hand, his body resting against the bed tiredly. A few hours later, the bed began to move lightly as ChiChi began to stir. She opened her eyes slowly and looked around. Blinking, she sat up and looked around hazily.
'How did I get to the bedroom?' ChiChi wondered.
She went to move her leg when she felt a foreign weight on the edge of the bed. ChiChi looked down and softened seeing Goku asleep against the bed, his hand still laced in her own. ChiChi looked around and saw the basin filled with now ice water, the ice cubes long since melted. The wash cloth had fallen to the side when she rolled over in her sleep. ChiChi smiled. This was the sweetest thing he had ever done for her...
"Goku-saa..." ChiChi whispered soothingly, gently rubbing his neck to wake him up.
He stirred at her touch and looked around tiredly. When he landed on her he immediately woke up and stood, now looking concerned rather than tired.
"ChiChi-chan! H-How are you feeling?" Goku asked with what sounded to ChiChi like sincerity.
"I'm feeling better...thank you for taking care of me, Goku..." ChiChi murmured.
Goku smiled relieved. She was feeling better. He blinked and suddenly saddened, sitting on the bed but averting his eyes away from ChiChi. ChiChi blinked, wondering what brought this on. She put her hand on his shoulder gently, and tried to look into his eyes to read them. He simply moved his head away everytime she attempted to do so. ChiChi frowned slightly.
"Goku-saa...what's wrong?" "I'm a bad husband..." Goku murmured brokenly.
ChiChi stared at Goku shocked he would ever suggest such a thing. Especially after what he had just done for her. He took care of her when she wasn't well. He spent the night beside her to make sure she was okay. How in the name of Kami could Goku say a thing like that?
"Goku...you're not a bad husband. Yo-.." "ChiChi I AM!" Goku interrupted. ChiChi looked at him stunned once more by his sudden change in attitude.
"How can you say that?" she murmured.
"I never say I love you...I never show you how much I truly care..." Goku whispered sadly.
ChiChi softened at his sincere statement. She scooted closer to him and wrapped her arms around him in a hug. Goku looked at her surprised, but then seeing why she did it, he pulled her into his arms gently. ChiChi smiled and snuggled against her husband's bare chest. For a Sayajin warrior he could be so gentle when he wanted to be. Goku inhaled the smell of ChiChi's hair deeply; the lilacs making an intoxicating swirl around his brain. She moved her head up and looked at him longingly. The two locked eyes and met each other in a soft yet sultry kiss. Goku gently pushed ChiChi back down into a laying position, following suit himself. ChiChi cuddled against him tiredly, the effects of her 24-hour bug still wearing on her. He smiled gently and held her close, giving her the warmth and tenderness he felt she so rightly deserved. They closed their eyes and fell asleep in the other's arms. As they slept, Gohan stepped inside the house and looked inside his parent's bedroom. Gohan smiled at the sight of his parents and placed a vase full of lilacs on his mother's dresser.
'I'm glad Dad sent me for those. Now it looks like the moment will be complete' Gohan thought with a smile.
