CHAPTER ONE

In Hogwarts, there were five friends that were always together. Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Summer Mond, and Brittany Nerezza were practically inseparable. In their seventh year, Voldemort was revived. It was clear he wanted revenge on Harry, and even his friends. But time has passed. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are 18. Summer and Brittany are 21. And while Voldemort hasn't attacked yet, his plans are about to unfold...

Two people sat at a large table at the back of the Three Broomsticks. One was a young man with black hair, and the other was a young woman with long, dark brown hair. Both had green eyes. They turned to watch two other people, around the age of the man, walk in. One was a man with red hair, the other was a woman with light brown hair. As they sat down, a girl with blondish-brown hair ran in the door.
"Hey Ron, Hermione. And Summer, you're not late this time!" The girl with dark brown hair said.
"I'm never late, Brittany." Summer replied. "You and Harry just get here so early, I SEEM late."
"I'd have thought you would've stopped arguing after all these years." Hermione said, grinning.
"You'd think so, but no." Summer said, sitting at the table.
The group sat, talking and laughing, until a small owl flew in the window and landed on their table. Harry took the letter from it, and the owl flew away.
"Huh, it's to all of us." Harry said. He turned over the latter and looked at the seal. "Hey, it's from Hogwarts!"
"Really? Open it!" Ron urged.
Harry carefully opened the envelope, and read the contents aloud.
"Hmm... 'Due to the return of the Dark Lord, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry's current headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, will not return to Hogwarts next year!'"
"That's terrible!" Hermione said.
Harry nodded and read on. "'Because of this event, Hogwarts will need a new headmaster and staff. Professor Dumbledore has chosen the five of you to take over the school starting next year...'"
For a moment, they were all quiet.
"This is so freakin cool!" Brittany said. "We're in charge of the school!"
"Do you realize how much responsibility this will be?" Hermione asked.
"Oh come on Hermione!" Brittany said. "We've got good enough jobs, but Hogwarts pays its' teachers REALLY well. And you can't tell me you haven't missed our days there."
"I suppose you're right..." Hermione said.
Harry skimmed the rest of the letter. "It says only Hagrid, Filch, and... oh no, Snape are staying. So who teaches what?"
"You should be headmaster, Harry." Ron said. "I can teach charms. I've always been good at those."
"I suppose I could teach history of magic..." Hermione said. "After all, I'm the only one who stayed awake during it. I may even be able to make it fun. I could do arithmancy, too."
"Sounds good." Brittany said. "I could do Divination and Astronomy. They were my favorite subjects anyway."
"I'll do herbology and muggle studies." Summer said. "It'll be great fun."
"So that leaves defense against the dark arts, and transfiguration." Harry said.
"Okay, it's July now, and we need to get this in order before August." Brittany said. "Summer and I can find a defense against the dark arts teacher, Ron, you and Hermione can find a transfiguration teacher."
Summer smiled. "Hey, I know where we can find a good teacher! TRANSYLVAMIA!"
"Summer, no." Brittany said. "We'll just put an ad in the Daily Prophet."
"Come on, Brittany!" Summer said. "There's a lot of vampires in Transylvania! And there's got to be a vampire hunter who wants to teach! This'll be fun!"
"I'll be surprised if both of you get back alive, the way you fight." Ron said. "But how are Hermione and me supposed to find a transfiguration teacher? Finding an Animangus is going to be really hard..."
"You think you have it bad?" Harry said. "I'm going to have to stay around Filch and Snape while you're all off finding teachers..."
"We'll hurry back." Brittany said. "You won't even know we're gone!"
--------
JULY- RON AND HERMIONE
"What do you mean we can't have the list of Anamangi?" Ron said to the Ministry employee. "We need to see it so we can find a new transfiguration teacher for Hogwarts!"
"I'm sorry, but that information is highly classified." The Ministry worker said. "It is the Anamangi's choice to reveal that."
They began to leave, when a man with silver hair approached them.
"Excuse me, but why are you looking for an Animagus?" He asked.
"We need a new transfiguration teacher for Hogwarts." Hermione said. "You wouldn't happen to know of any, would you?"
"I'm afraid not." The man said. "I heard about Dumbledore leaving Hogwarts. You're the ones taking over?"
"Yeah." Ron said. "There's three other people, too."
"Well, I've got to ask- do you have a defense against the dark arts teacher?" The man asked.
Ron and Hermione exchanged glances.
"Well, no. Are you interested?" Hermione asked hopefully.
"Yes, I'd love to go back to Hogwarts. I'm Remus Lupin, by the way." He said.
"I'm Ron, and this is Hermione." He looked at Hermione. "Brittany'll kill us when she finds out we had her go to Transylvania for nothing..."
--------
JULY- BRITTANY AND SUMMER
"I feel like an idiot." Brittany said. She was carrying a briefcase containing holy water, three wooden steaks, and ten cloves of garlic. "Why'd you bring all this?"
"I told you." Summer said. "We're going to find a vampire hunter, so where's there's vampire hunters, there's vampires."
"Mmm hmm..." Brittany said. Their destination was the famous 'Dracula's castle', which Summer had said would be the perfect place to find a vampire hunter. Brittany was counting on asking around back at the hotel for someone who was good with defensive magic. Summer paid for the midnight tour of the castle, and they went inside.
"It's probably upstairs..." Summer said.
"It?" Brittany said.
"You know, the vampire." Summer said as she started up the stairs. "We'll find it, and then the vampire hunter'll come rescue us, and then we can hire him and be on our way!"
Brittany sighed and followed Summer. When they reached the top of the stairs, they heard a crash behind them and saw the stairs crumble and fall.
"See? I knew this was a bad idea." Brittany said. "Let's just try to find another staircase."
They walked along the hall a few steps when they heard steps behind them. Turning, they saw a man standing where they were a few moments before. He must be a wizard, too. Brittany thought.
"How did you apparate so quietly?" She asked.
"I don't need to apparate." He said. He smiled and revealed long fangs. In a swift movement, too fast for mortal eyes to see, he grabbed Summer and bit her neck. Brittany pulled out her wand and yelled "Petrificus Totalus!"
The vampire froze and fell over. Summer rubbed her neck.
"That won't last long on a vampire." She said.
"I know." Brittany replied. "Let's get out of here!"
"Nice job." Said a voice from behind them. A may their age with blonde hair and extremely light blue eyes walked to the vampire. "I've been after this vamp for a while now. He's killing too many people, so I need to take him to the Ministry."
The man pulled a wand out of his jacket. He waved it, and the vampire turned into a mouse. The man took a small glass bottle out of his jacket and scooped the mouse into it.
"Uh, who are you?" Brittany asked.
"I'm Nick Short." He said.
"You wouldn't happen to be an Anamangus, would you?" Brittany asked, getting an idea.
"Actually, yeah." Nick said. In a few seconds, he had transformed into a lion, then back.
"Would you be interested in a job, then?" Brittany asked. "We need a new teacher for transfiguration at Hogwarts."
"Sounds great!" Nick said.
"Uh, Brittany can I talk to you?" Summer said, steering Brittany into a room of the castle. "Brittany, can we really trust him?"
Brittany blinked. "What, don't you?"
"Not really..." Summer said. "I mean, he just shows up out of nowhere. And his eyes are so pale ... it's creepy."
"Creepy? I thought they made him look hot..." Brittany said. "Besides, there's only one of him, and two of us. We should get back get to Hogwarts, and tell Harry about this."
--------
JULY- HARRY
Harry walked into Hogwarts, and felt like he was going back in time. Nothing had changed in the school, and for a moment he just starred around the entrance hall. Then he remembered he had to meet with Snape and Hagrid, and went into the great hall. Upon entering, he felt a large hand clap his back in what he guessed was supposed to be friendly. But coming from such a large person, it was almost painful.
"Hi Hagrid." Harry said.
"Hullo Harry!" Hagrid said. "It seems like jus' yesterday you were startin' your first year here. And now you're gonna be headmaster!"
"Yes, Hagrid, we're all delighted." Said another man, standing farther back.
"Hello Snape." Harry said coolly.
"Hello Potter." Snape said. "Have you gotten anyone to fill the open positions?"
"Ron and the others are going to fill most of the open spots." Harry said. "They're out trying to find teachers for transfiguration and defense against the dark arts."
"Correction, Ron and Hermione are trying to find a teacher." Brittany, Summer, and Nick came in the great hall. "Sevie my man!" Brittany said brightly to Snape. "How're ya doin these days?"
"I should have failed you back when I had the chance." Snape said. "Who's this?"
"I'm Nicholas Short." Nick said, offering his hand to Snape. After a moment, of Snape just starring at him, Nick took his hand back.
"The teachers were a lot nicer back when I went here..." Nick said.
"Wait, Snape wasn't your teacher?" Brittany asked. "I thought you were just a little older or younger than us. That would make you around forty!"
"Um, higher..." Nick said.
"But how can you look so young if you're that old?" Brittany asked.
Snape smiled. "It seems you've hired a vampire."
Brittany and the others just starred at Nick.
"Guess I forgot to mention that, huh?" Nick smiled nervously. "So am I fired?"
Brittany looked at Harry. "He's not violent. And he's great at transfiguration. He can't possibly be as bad as Snape."
Harry sighed. "On my first day, I have to deal with vampires... Fine, Nick, you're hired. What house were you in?"
"Hufflepuff." Nick said.
"Okay, then you're head of Hufflepuff." Harry said. "Brittany, you're head of Ravenclaw."
Brittany rolled her eyes. "Gee, considering I'm the only Ravenclaw person here, I feel honored to have beaten out the competition."
Ron, Hermione, and Remus entered the great hall. For a moment, Remus and Nick watched each other. Then Nick nodded and walked out of the room. Brittany followed him.
"Weasley and Granger did as good of a job as Nerezza and Mond." Snape said. "But at least Lupin's problem is preventable."
"You know each other?" Ron asked. "And what's he talking about, anyway?"
Remus sighed. "We were in the same class, growing up. He's talking about the fact that I'm a werewolf."
Harry nearly fell over, and Ron and Hermione blinked.
"The change can be prevented with a potion, though." Remus said.
"Then it's settled, you're staying!" Summer said. She wrapped an arm around Snape, and said, "You'll make the potion for him, won't you Snapey-Poo?"
Snape squirmed out of her grip. "How did I get stuck baby-sitting these children?"
"I guess we have all the professors, then." Harry said. "We should get our offices ready, I guess."
--------
"Nick, wait." Brittany said, catching up to Nick in the halls. "What happened?"
"Oh, you mean with Lupin?" Nick said. "I can communicate mentally with people. It turns out, that guy's Remus Lupin, a werewolf."
"Werewolf?" Brittany asked.
"Yeah, but he seems nice enough." Nick said. "He can keep his sanity when he transforms with a potion, but I still won't trust him under the full moon. Werewolves are dangerous..."
"Like vampires?" Brittany teased.
"Heh... I can't exactly talk, can I?" Nick said. "But you don't seem as afraid as the others."
"Well, I've always been interested in vampires." Brittany said.
Nick smirked. "So you're interested in me?"
"Oh, that's not what I meant." Brittany said, blushing.
"I know, I'm just kidding." Nick said. "I guess I'm going to have to become diurnal. Being nocturnal isn't really an option if I'm teaching in the daytime." Sighing, he said, "I guess I'll go check out my office. See you later."
Brittany watched Nick walk away. Hermione walked next to her.
"You like him, don't you?" Brittany nodded. "I can tell. I'm with Summer, though. He looks a bit unnatural. Scary, even."
"I like to call his look 'exotic'" Brittany said, smiling slightly.
Hermione smiled and shook her head. "You have odd taste in men, Brittany."

CHAPTER TWO

A the next day, Brittany passed Summer's office.
"What the- Summer, what's all this?"
"My muggle studies equipment!" Summer said. "I did the walls green. You know, for the Packers."
"That explains the yellow furniture..." Brittany said. "And the balls?"
"Well, all these people have is Quidditch!" Summer said. "They need football and baseball and all the other good sports! Plus, I'm gonna teach 'em all the good songs!"
"And you need a Packers uniform and a cheese head hat for all of this because...?"
Summer adjusted the giant cheese hat on her head. "It's cool. If you think mine's bad, what does your office look like?"
"Come and see." Brittany said. She lead Summer to another hall, opened a door, and walked in her office. The walls were dark blue, and the furniture was dark wood. There were candles in at least a hundred different colors, various crystals and stones, and mirrors. The light bounced off the crystals and mirrors, making sparkling lights dance around the walls.
"Shiny..." Summer said. "But mine's still better."
Summer turned and left. A few moments later, Remus entered.
"So you're Brittany." He said. "Sorry we didn't get to meet earlier."
"No, it's fine." Brittany said. "So you teach defense against the dark arts now?"
"Yeah. I've got a lot of dark creatures lined up for the class." He said. "I think it'll turn out pretty well."
"REMUS!" Summer suddenly appeared again and latched onto Remus' hand. "Have you seen my office yet? I don't think you have. Let's go!"
Remus looked at Brittany, as if for help, and Brittany smiled and mouthed Good luck, Lupin.

"Poor guy." Brittany turned and saw Nick standing in her office. "Having all these young people in the school will either be the worst or the best thing that's ever happened."
"Hopefully the latter." Brittany said. "And how did you get in here?"
"I have lots of ways to get in and out of a place." Nick said. "Vampires pop up without apparating. And we can transform into most animals. I could just turn into a fly and move around the school."
"Amazing." Brittany said.
"You know," Nick started," you would make a pretty good vampire, too..."
"WHAT?" Brittany asked, stunned.
"I can see it in you." Nick said. "Brittany, you could become a vampire and live forever. Maybe even ... with me."
Brittany smiled slightly. "Straightforward, aren't you?"
"You don't have to answer me now." Nick said. "Just think about it. I was around your age when I was transformed."
"Speaking of age, how old are you?" Brittany asked.
"Hmm... five hundred seventy-two." Nick said. Noticing Brittany's look, he said, "Old, huh?"
"You look good for your age." Brittany joked. "But I will think about your offer."
"You're into the mysterious, immortal type?" Nick asked.
"Just call me Mina." Brittany said.
--------
"Packers?" Remus asked.
"I guess you haven't heard of many American football teams, huh?" Summer sighed. "Well, the Green Bay Packers are the best team in America! I'm going to be teaching the kids in my Muggle Studies class how to play football."
"I've always wanted to learn about muggle sports." Remus said. "Maybe I'll come watch someday."
"Great!" Summer said, putting an arm around Remus.
--------
Brittany paced her room. She needed help. But who could she ask about this? It'd be an argument with Summer, Hermione would blow things way out of proportion, Harry already had enough to deal with, and Ron would just freak out. Then an idea occurred to her- Remus. He knew a lot about vampires. And he didn't seem like the type to tell other people's secrets.
Walking down the hall towards Remus' office, she looked around to make sure Summer wasn't nearby. Brittany wasn't interested in Remus as a boyfriend, but Summer would yell at her just the same. Figuring Remus was alone, she walked in his office.
"Hey Lupin, got a minute?" She asked.
"Sure. What's on your mind?" He asked.
"Uh ... how do you feel about vampires?" She asked.
Remus blinked. "It really varies. Some are just evil creatures, and some are practically human."
Brittany nodded. "And what do you think about Nick?"
"He seems nice enough." Remus said. "At least, he is to us. How he feeds is a mystery to me. And Nick can walk around in the daylight, which is something only strong vampires can do. But I really don't think he's at the evil end of the vampires. Is there any reason you're asking me this?"
"You can keep a secret, right?" Remus nodded. "Well, I'm thinking about becoming a vampire..."
Remus gave a nervous cough. "Why?"
"I've always had the idea in the back of my mind." Brittany said. "And then I met Nick. And with a vampire around, now would be the perfect time to get transformed into one."
"Then you should do it." Remus said. "Most vampires don't have as much time as you have to think about this. They just get transformed at random. You've obviously thought about this. Why not go ahead with it."
Brittany smiled and nodded. "You know, I think I will." Brittany stood and walked to the door of Remus' office. "Thanks Lupin. I can see why Summer likes you so much."
Remus sighed. "Summer... She's really outgoing..."
"She's just excited to have met you." Brittany said. "She'll calm down. Eventually. Maybe."
--------
Brittany took a deep breath and knocked on Nick's door. After a moment, he pulled the door open. For a moment, he looked surprised. Then he regained his usual calm look.
"Hi Brittany. Come on in." Nick's office was much different from the other offices. He had assorted books and papers in extremely neat stacks around the room. It reminded Brittany of the way a lawyer would decorate an office. "So is there any reason you're coming to see me at two in the morning?"
"I've made my decision." Brittany said. "I want to be a vampire."
"You're sure? You know you'll need blood every day." Brittany nodded. "I knew you'd say yes. You should sit down. That'll make things a bit easier on you."
Brittany sat in one of the chairs in Nick's office. "So what are you going to do to me?"
"They didn't cover that in your class?" Nick asked. "I'll have to mention that to Remus. To turn you into a vampire, first I have to drink all your blood. Then, I have to let you drink some of mine. This is all going to hurt."
"I can take it." Brittany moved her hair to expose the right side of her neck. Looking up at Nick, she saw his eyes had turned red. "What the-"
"You're talking about my eyes, right?" He asked. Brittany also noticed his long fangs as he talked. "When a vampire is using powers, or is about to feed, their eyes turn red and their fangs get longer."
Brittany knew all that, but it was still shocking to see this close. A vampire, even when they looked normal, was scary to most mortals. One that was vamped out, as it's called, could strike fear in the heart of any mortal, and even most creatures. As Nick moved towards her, she held her breath because of fear. She felt two sharp pains as his fangs pierced her skin, then a calm, floating feeling. They only lasted for a few moments, and it was followed by pain. A LOT of pain. She felt like she was on fire. She may have screamed once, but she couldn't remember. At last, Nick pulled away slightly, but moved back in time to catch her before she fell out of the chair from weakness. Brittany barely made out Nick cutting himself and holding her to the cut. She drank his blood until he gently pulled her away.
"Will you be okay if I let you go?" Nick asked. Brittany nodded. She felt dizzy, but she would be okay on her own.
"I'll have to teach you how to hunt, and how to use your new powers." Nick said. "There's a lot of animals in the Forbidden Forest. We can go now. Getting from one place to another is just like apparating, but hundreds of times easier."
Brittany nodded. First Nick, then she, teleported outside the building.
"That WAS really easy." Brittany smiled. "I think I'm gonna like this."
--------
The next day, Harry had a meeting in his office with all the new teachers, Snape, and Lupin. The only real difference in the room was a cleared spot on the wall for where Dumbledore's painting would go someday.
"Okay, any suggestions for the year?" Harry asked, looking much too small for the large desk he sat at."
"Why not switch to pens and paper?" Summer said. "It's cheaper and not as messy as ink."
"And we should change the rules on what electronics we can use." Brittany said.
"Televisions, video games, and CD players won't do any damage."
"Students should be able to bring library books outside the school." Remus suggested. "It's always nice to read by the lake."
"I agree!" Summer said.
"Since when do YOU read?" Brittany asked.
"I always read!" Summer said.
"Liar." Brittany said. "You just wanted Lupin to like you."
"Look who's talking!" Summer said. Brittany (and Nick, who she was sitting next to) blinked.
"Can we get back to the meeting?" Harry asked. "Now, we have to think of a well-written way to let the parents know that a werewolf and a vampire are teaching this year."
Brittany coughed. "That's not exactly the case anymore..."
"Brittany!" Hermione exclaimed. "You mean to tell me-"
"As of last night, I'm a vampire."
For a moment, everyone was silent. Snape put his head in his hands.
"I should have known this was coming." He said. "We'll all be dead by next week."
"Brit's a vamp?" Summer laughed. "This could work out for me!"
"Hey, I'm not some evil creature!" Brittany said. "Well, maybe I am... But I'm not going to use my powered for evil things!"
Harry slowly lowered his head to the desk. "This has to be the hardest first week any headmaster's ever had... Well, I'll try to write this into the note that goes out to all the students. Hermione, you stay and help."
Everyone else left.
"I'll bet you at least fifty students switch schools." Ron said. "Half the teachers being dangerous, and all."
"Why is it," Brittany started, "that all the normal people are the monsters?"
"Are you implying that I'm weird?" Summer asked.
"I'm just saying the strange people aren't monsters." Brittany looked at Snape. "Some more than others..."
"I have better things to do than listen to a bloodsucker's rambling." Snape said, and walked away.
Hermione came into the hall.
"Well, we did the best we could to explain that even with the presence of a werewolf and two vampires, Hogwarts is still safe. A lot of people probably have faith in Harry anyway, since he's always been good at fighting dark forces. No offense."
"None taken." Brittany said.
"And I'm going to start reading on the spells that ban electric items from the grounds." Hermione said. "I should be able to get the spells redone by tomorrow." She sighed. "Poor Harry. So much is happening to him."
"He's not really headmaster yet." Ron said. "Snape's watching over all of us. I guess we need it, though..."
"We do tend to get in trouble, huh?" Nick asked. "Ah well. We'll see what happens in September."
--------
And things hadn't gotten better in September. On September first, Snape entered the great hall in his usual black robes. The only other one already sitting at the table was Harry. He sat down next to his left.
"I never thought I'd find a group that you were the best in, Potter." He said.
"Do you really think everyone's ready to do this?" Harry asked.
"Potter, I didn't think most of the teachers who left recently were fit to teach."
"So that means you think they're ready?" Harry asked. "That's the first good thing you're said about anyone who wasn't in Slytherin."
Ron entered, in green robes. He sat next to Harry. "We're never gonna make it through the first night..."
"What's all this negativity?" Brittany, wearing a midnight blue dress, entered. Nick was with her, and he wore dark red robes. Brittany held up a card. "This is the Tarot sun card. It means we're going to have a really good day. Tomorrow's card was fairly good, too."
"Not wearing robes, Nerezza?" Snape asked.
"It's not a written rule that you have to wear robes." Brittany said. "Besides, wait till you see what Summer's wearing."
"What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" Summer asked, entering in a Packer's jersey and jeans.
"Nothing at all, Summer..." Brittany said, sighing.
--------
The great hall was almost full when three girls sat down at the Ravenclaw table. They were all in their seventh year.
"So which teacher's which, Heather?" The girl with blonde hair asked.
"You're in luck, Amber." Heather said. "I did some research. The one in the middle's Harry Potter."
"I could tell that from the scar." The girl with brown hair said.
"If you'll let me finish, Kassy." Heather said. "Of course that's Professor Snape right of him, then the girl's Professor Granger."
"I heard she's some kinda genius that knows really complex spells." Amber said.
"Yeah, she is." Heather said. "She even redid some of the ancient spells on this school. Right of her is Professor Weasley. He knows a lot of spells, too. Looks like Hagrid's in his usual spot. Back on Professor Potter's left is Professor Lupin." Heather lowered her voice slightly. "He's the werewolf."
"Wow." Kassy said. "I pictured someone a little, I dunno, meaner-looking. He looks like he'd be nice."
"I heard he is." Heather said. "Then left of him is Professor Mond. Apparently, she's really into Muggle sports, and that'll be a big part of her muggle studies class."
"So the two on the left..." Amber lowered her voice. "They're the vampires?"
Heather nodded. "On the far left is Professor Short. He's a master of transforming into other animals. On his right is Professor Nerezza. She's got strong psychic powers."
"You can really tell they're the vampires." Kassy said. "I mean, Professor Short's got such light eyes, it makes him look evil. But they just have an air about them..."
"You've got to admit," Heather said, "they're both gorgeous, though."
The other two girls nodded.
"You really he's hotter than me?" Asked another seventh year. This was a boy with brown hair, and he and another boy with strawberry blonde hair sat next to the girls.
"Itn't everyone, Henry?" Kassy joked.
"I wonder what they're like. Personality-wise, I mean." The boy with blonde hair said.
"We'll see tomorrow, Neal." Amber said. "Ravenclaws have Transfiguration as their first class."

CHAPTER THREE
Transfiguration had already started when Kassy ran in, late. The class and Nick stared at her as she slammed her books on the desk and sat down.
"I'm never going to get used to waking up this early!" She said angrily.
Nick smiled. "You didn't have to go from sleeping at night to sleeping at day. Things could be a lot harder, especially when it's your natural drive to be nocturnal." Nick looked at the rest of the class. "I'm Professor Short. Since this is transfiguration class, I suppose you'd like to start with me turning into something?" All the Gryffindors and Ravenclaws nodded. Nick smiled and turned into a lion, then turned back.
"I heard you can turn into more than one animal." Heather said.
"That's true." Nick said. This time, he turned into a white wolf, then back. "In theory, vampires can turn into an infinite number of animals. Some of the more powerful can even turn into magical animals like dragons. I can turn into a few different dragons, but this room's too small."
"Show off." Brittany had teleported into the classroom, making more than half the class jump.
"Brittany!" Nick said. "What are you doing here?"
"Thought I'd check up on you." Brittany said. "I see you're already trying to impress the students."
"Oh come on, all the transfiguration teachers start out this way." Nick looked at the class. "This is Professor Nerezza, by the way."
"Hi kids." Brittany said in a deep voice, making some of the boys in the class blush or sit straighter. Nick, however, scowled.
"Don't you have a class to teach?"
"I suppose so..." Brittany shut her eyes. "I can feel a few of the boys plotting something. Gotta go!"
--------
Amber and Heather's next class was divination. They went to the tower it was held in, and prepared for whatever was next. Brittany entered in a flowing dark red dress.
"Hello class!" She said. "Today we're going to start on the Tarot cards. If you'll all just get out your decks, we can begin the basic reading of a person's past, present, and future. Only use the Major Arcana today. We'll get to the Minor Arcana later."
Each table was covered in dark red silk. There was at least two gems placed at each table, as well. The class paired off, so Heather and Amber got to work together. Amber decided to go first. She placed three in front of her.
"Hmm ... the left card on the left is The World, so you had a good childhood with your happy family. You were probably spoiled."
"I suppose so." Heather said. "I always got the things I wanted, eventually."
"The middle card is the reversed Empress, so you're have bad luck with friends and love."
"I don't have a boyfriend yet, if that's what you mean." Heather replied.
"And the card on the right is The Moon, so you'll have problems that turn out fine in the end in the future."
"Very good." Brittany said. She had come behind Amber while she was looking at the cards, so she hadn't noticed the vampire's approach. Or perhaps you just couldn't hear her walk. "I noticed you're using a Universal Waite deck. That was my first deck, too." Brittany smiled. "I think you'll do well in my class."
"Oh, thanks." Amber said. Any class she had a good feeling about on the first day could only get better.
--------
The next class for Kassy after transfiguration was defense against the dark arts. She, a Gryffindor named Erin Smith, and Henry walked together.
"So what did you think of Professor Short?" Kassy asked.
"He seemed nice." Erin said. "I can see why he was in Hufflepuff. I guess vampires don't change much from the way they were in life."
"Seeing Professor Nerezza made me wish I'd taken divination..." Henry said.
"You and all the other boys in our class." Erin said.
"Can you blame us?" Henry asked. "And you can't tell me you girls weren't drooling over Professor Short!"
"Well, that's different..." Erin said defensively.
In class, Remus walked in looking quite cheerful.
"Good afternoon, class." He said. "Now, this year, you'll move on to defense against the stronger dark arts. This includes dark hexes, curses, and dark creatures." Erin raised her hand. "Yes, Erin?"
"So does that include vampires and werewolves?"
Remus nodded. "Yes, we'll be getting to those units later this year. We happen to be lucky enough to have examples of both this year." Henry raised his hand this time. "Henry?"
"Is it really wise to teach us all how to kill you?"
A lot of people laughed, even Remus. "Well, I trust you all."
--------
Kassy and the others met up with Heather and Amber for their last class of the day, muggle studies. Summer had them meet outside, in the Quidditch pitch. She had on her Packers uniform, as usual, and was holding an American football.
"Okay, now first thing's first." Summer said. "You all need to learn how to play American football!"
"What about the economic conditions of the muggle world?" Heather asked.
"No, not important." Summer said. "Really, no muggles know anything about their country besides their leader's name and their fave sports team. Now, everyone divide yourselves into two teams!"
"So we're not learning anything about politics?" Heather asked, sounding disappointed.
"Geeze, you WANT homework?" Summer asked. "A point from Ravenclaw for being a downer."
"SUMMER!" A voice came from nowhere, making Summer scream. Brittany appeared in front of Summer. "You can't take points away for that sort of thing!"
"FINE! No points from Ravenclaw." Summer glared at Brittany. "And since when do you just follow me around?"
"Since I thought you'd try some trick like this!" Brittany said. "Just go on with the game. I'll be watching you, though."
"You're not playing?" Summer asked.
"Nah. Football's not my sport." Brittany sat down against one of the stands.
--------
On Saturday, Harry called a meeting in his office. Hermione wasn't at the meeting; Harry said she was getting something.
"Now, I just got this today." Harry said, holding up a letter. "The Minister of Magic wants to check how all of us are doing, so he'll be here all next week. That means everyone has to be perfect in their class." Everyone turned to look at Summer.
"Hey, what's everyone looking at me for?"
"Face it. You're the most likely to ruin everything." Ron said.
"So we'll have to watch her even closer." Brittany said. "Or I could use complete mind control over her. That'd be a lot easier for everyone."
Summer looked like she wanted to argue about that, but Nick sighed.
"It's probably because he wants to check on the monsters..." Nick said angrily.
"So?" Summer asked. "He'll see how nice you all are, and everything'll be fine!" Summer looked at Brittany. "Well, how nice most of you are..."
"What are you talking about!" Brittany asked. Just then, Hermione came into Harry's office with a copy of the Inkspot, Hogwart's newspaper run by the students and Hermione herself.
"Well, this is going around to all the common rooms now." Hermione said.
"Lemme see!" Summer said, grabbing the paper. "Hmm... I see you published my sports section! Ooh! Here's the section on us!"
"I'm all ears!" Brittany said.
"Hmm, a shining review for your class, Remus." Summer said. "All the students love you. Hermione, Ron, the students say you've made your classes a lot more interesting than the previous teachers have. All the students love me! They said I have the most fun of all the classes. Nick and Brittany are the source of all the gossip in the school. All the students are anxious for them to date." Nick and Brittany both blushed. "Oh come on. You two make it pretty obvious that you like each other!"
Brittany stood up. "Like you do for someone who shall remain nameless? Cough REMUS cough!"
"Let's not let this turn into a shouting match..." Nick said, gently pulling Brittany back down into her chair. Summer and Brittany still looked angry, but Summer continued.
"Your classes are pretty popular, too. But people are kinda freaked out by your teleporting, Brittany."
"The first years are the most fun." Brittany said, smirking.
Summer looked at Nick. "Help me out here!"
"What?" Nick asked.
"You're her boyfriend, tell her to stop!" Summer said.
"I can't do that!" Nick said. "You know how she is!"
"No, how am I?" Brittany asked.
"Uhhh..." Nick was almost visibly shrinking in his chair. "Well, I mean you can be a little stubborn..."
Brittany glared at Nick. "We'll talk later. As for you!" Brittany said to Summer. "I'm a perfectly KIND and GENTLE person, and these people will have to get used to my teleporting. It'll be a good life experience. Besides..." Brittany used her extreme speed to go behind Summer, grab the paper, and sit down before anyone could blink. "This says nothing about my teleporting. YOU just don't want me spying on you in class."
Summer looked like she was going to say something, but couldn't decide on how to talk her way out of this. Slowly, Harry started laughing. Everyone else soon started laughing, too.
"What?" Summer asked.
"It's just hard to believe," Harry said, "that we're all teachers, when we haven't even changed a bit since we were here as students! And we're all really successful, too. It's like a miracle."
"A big one." Brittany agreed. She turned to Nick. "How about you walk me back to my room? Make the students even more suspicious."
"Oh, wait a minute." Hermione said. "I did have one serious thing to mention. You've all heard of that convict, Sirius Black? Well, a few days ago, he broke out of Azkaban. Apparently, this place is the first target on his list. We all need to be very careful."
--------
Monday, Cornelius Fudge arrived. He used floo powder, and came to Harry's office.
"Ah, Harry Potter!" He said, shaking Harry's hand. "It's nice to see you again! So, I take it the other professors are in their classes?"
Harry nodded. "If you want, we can go to Muggle studies. It's a favorite among the students."
--------
"Remember, Summer," Brittany warned before Harry and Fudge got to the Quidditch pitch, "I'll be in mosquito form, so if you mess up, I'll bite. And remember- vampire bites can really hurt.
"Yeah I know." Summer said as Brittany changed forms. Looking over, she saw Harry and Fudge approaching. "Oh, Fudge! Nice to see you! Today, I'm playing American football. Professor Granger's going to lead one team, and I'm going to lead the other. Ready, Hermione?"
"Yeah." Hermione said. Both teachers, having muggle-born parents, they knew a lot about football, and did pretty well. In the end, Hermione's team one by three points.
"Nice game..." Summer said, sounding disappointed.
"Thanks." Hermione lowered her voice. "But if I won, doesn't that mean you owe Ron and Brittany some money?"
"Oh yeah! Fu- OUCH! I mean, dang..." Summer said, rubbing the spot where she'd just received an extremely painful bug bite.
--------
That day, Fudge also inspected Hermione during her runes class and Brittany in divination. Midnight was Ravenclaw's astronomy class. As the students filled out their star charts, Brittany laid on the tower's battlements, wearing a black shirt and pants.
"Stupid Fudge!" She said. "This just ruins everyone's fun! Anybody wanna push me over the wall and end my misery?"
"I'll do it!" Kassy said. "But only if you leave it in you will that I get ten points extra credit for doing that."
"You don't deserve it." She joked. "Besides, I'm not even sure that that would kill me. It takes a lot to kill vampires, after all..." Brittany sighed and sat up. "Everyone's gotta wear robes while he's around, and try to make interesting classes. At least he's done my other class, and he's not about to stay up for this. So I'm FREE!"
"Well, you are." Henry said. "But we've all got to be good little kids in our other classes. Makes the teachers look better."
"Were you smart enough to bribe any of 'em?" Brittany asked.
Henry and Neal looked at each other. "It never occurred to us..." Neal said.
"Dang." Brittany laid back down. "At least I got some money off Summer because Hermione beat her in football. Eeeh...you shouldn't mention that to anyone else."
"What'll you give us?" Kassy asked.
"Hmm... I won't kill any of you." Brittany said.
"...but no money?" Henry asked, making Brittany laugh.
--------
Fudge had met all the other teachers that night at dinner. The first class on Tuesday that he and Harry visited was defense against the dark arts. Today's class was out in the Quidditch pitch (Summer was doing herbology that hour) and both Remus and Nick were there.
"Okay, today's class continues our vampire studies." Remus said. "Professor Short has agreed to give us a demonstration today."
"Only because your first choice said she thought this was ridiculous..." Nick said, making Remus give a nervous cough.
"You can't tell me you wouldn't want to see Brittany go against mustard seeds." Remus said. Nick looked like he was in thought for a moment.
"I guess that would be funny..." Nick said.
"Anyway," Remus turned to the class, "what's the primary thing vampires are weak against?"
"The cross and the crucifix." Heather volunteered.
"Right. But some vampires are resistant to it." Remus said, taking out a cross and turning to Nick. "Does this have any effect on you?"
"Sort of." Nick said. "It hurts, and leaves a bruise if I touch it. But it doesn't have any major effect."
"May I?" Remus asked. Nick sighed and held out his hand. Remus lightly touched it with the cross, making Nick wince. When he pulled away, there was a light purple bruise in the shape of a cross on Nick's hand.
Nick rubbed the spot on his hand. "You will pay for this later, my friend." He said, smiling.
Remus smiled. "Sorry. But that alone proves you must be one of the more powerful vampires." He turned to his class. "Now, what's the second way to protect yourself from a vampire?"
"Mustard seeds." Amber answered.
"That's right." Remus said. "A line of mustard seeds between you and the vampire will make it unable to get to you. Well, for most vampires it will." Remus looked questioningly at Nick.
"Again, it doesn't completely keep me from passing." Nick said. "But it is hard to get across."
Remus made a line of mustard seeds between himself and Nick. He walked towards it, then started to strain as if walking against a very strong wind. Finally, he fell across the line, breathing heavily. Brittany suddenly popped into vision.
"What did you do, Lupin?!?" She asked, running to Nick and helping him up. She looked at Remus and saw he was staring at her. "What?"
"You just walked across the seeds..." He said.
Brittany looked at the line of seeds. "And?"
"It took Nick a full minute to cross them." Remus said. "And he's a lot older than you... Hold out your hand."
Brittany reluctantly held out her hand, and Remus held the cross to it. Nothing happened this time. Brittany, still unaware of the purpose of this, noticed the class watching her wide-eyed.
"Amazing..." Remus said.
"I can see when I'm not needed..." Nick said with fake sadness. He teleported out of sight.
Remus returned his gaze to the class. "Now besides the cross and seeds, vampires are also weak against fire and silver."
"Hey, this is where I draw the line, Lupin." Brittany said.
"No, I wasn't going to try those." Remus said. "But I doubt they'd effect you anyway, if the cross and seeds didn't." Remus turned to the class. "Moving on to what vampires can do, have you ever tested your ability to jump, Brittany?"
"You'll all like this." She said. In one quick leap, she jumped from the base of the stands to the fifty foot high seats. The class blinked.
"Is it really wise to let that strong of a vampire stay in the school?" Fudge quietly asked Harry. "I mean, what if she hurt a student?"
"What, and kill her audience?" Harry joked. "I have complete faith in her."
--------
Summer walked past Nick's office, and stopped when she saw him inside.
"I thought you were helping Remus with his class." She said, without waiting to be invited in.
"Yeah, well, apparently Brittany's decided she likes to be in the spotlight."
Summer smiled. "Yeah, she's conceited."
"I wouldn't go that far..." Nick said. "But she loves attention."
"You won't even insult her?" Summer smiled. "You must really love Brittany..."
Nick coughed nervously. Summer rolled her eyes. "Oh come ON! Say it!"
"What?"
"Say you love her!"
"Well-"
"SAY IT!"
"I-"
"SAAAY IIIT!"
"All right! I love her. Happy?"
"Not yet." Summer said. "Now you've got to tell her!"
"I know..." Nick said. "But it's hard. I haven't been this close to anyone in a long time."
"Oh it's easy!" Summer said. "Just blurt it out!"
Nick stared at her. "You mean the way you and Remus just instantly said you love each other?"
"HEY! I haven't said I love him because... I'm waiting for the right moment!" Summer said. Nick laughed, and Summer walked out.
--------
Friday night, Summer, Harry, Remus, and Brittany were walking on the grounds.
"And so, we end the last day with Fudge." Brittany said. "This calls for some sort of celebration! As soon as he leaves, we're having a feast!"
"He had some good effect here." Harry said. "I'll tell you what it was as soon as I figure it out."
Everyone laughed, until they heard a squeaking sound. Brittany looked down and saw a rat.
"Hey... Is it just me, or does that rat look exactly like Ron's old rat?"
Harry and Summer looked at the rat. "Hey, it does!" Harry said.
"That's..." Remus' eyes widened. "But that's impossible..."
A growl made them look and see a large black dog scoop the rat up in its mouth and run away.
"We've got to follow that dog!" Remus said, breaking out in a run. Brittany followed, and Harry and Summer did soon after. The dog ran towards the whomping willow, dodged its branches, and dived under its trunk. Remus stopped, and turned to Brittany.
"Can you get to the tree, and poke it on that spot?"
Brittany nodded, and ran faster than mortal eyes could see to the tree. Everyone else followed her, and they, too, went under the tree. After a tunnel, they emerged in an old house. The rat was now bring held by a man with black hair.
"This is impossible..." Remus said. "Then that's really Peter?"
The man nodded. "As soon as I got out of Azkaban, I started searching for him.
"Azkaban?" Harry asked. "So you're Sirius Black!"
"Yes, but I'm not the traitor everyone thinks I am!" Sirius said. "I was framed by this guy, Peter."
"You mean Scabbers?" Summer asked.
"No, watch." Sirius took out a wand and, after a flash of light, there was a man in place of the rat.
"This is Peter Pettigrew!" Sirius said. "He's the real one who betrayed your parents!"
"Isn't he supposed to be dead?" Brittany asked.
"He faked that." Sirius said. "And apparently he's been hiding as a rat this whole time!"
"Well, you're in luck." Brittany said. "We just happen to have the Minister of Magic with us back at Hogwarts. You can get all this cleared up, and send the real murderer to prison."
Peter starred in horror. "You wouldn't! You don't believe him, do you?"
"Why would you hide all this time if you were innocent?" Remus asked angrily.
"I...I...." Peter was at a loss for words.
"Time to get back to Hogwarts." Summer said. Peter looked like he was thinking about leaving, but Brittany bent down so her eyes were level with his.
"Listen good, rat boy." Brittany said. "You don't have any say in this. I'm a vampire, and I haven't had anything to eat tonight. If you try to run ... well, use your imagination. Now walk."
Peter nervously got up.
"SIRIUS!" Came a voice from the door. Snape had just come into the room, holding a potion. "I thought you were locked up, where you belong!" Snape threw the potion to the floor.
"NO!" Remus said. "That's the potion that keeps me sane while I'm in wolf form!"
"This time you've gone too far!" Brittany said. She moved in front of everyone, so they couldn't see what she did, but Snape fell over, stiff.
"That'll keep him quiet." Harry said. "Tonight's a full moon, right? Then we've got to hurry. Brittany, you and Summer watch Peter so he doesn't run away. Remus, Sirius, we'll have to carry Snape. What'd you do, Brittany?"
"I paralyzed him." She said. "Vampires don't need to use a wand for that. He'll be that way for a few hours."
Everyone started moving down the tunnel, and emerged at Hogwarts. Nick and Fudge met them just as they came out from under the tree.
"I told Nick to be here mentally." Brittany explained.
"What's going on here?" Fudge demanded.
"See, this is Peter Pettigrew." Sirius explained. "He's the one who really helped the Dark Lord find Harry's parents. He's the one who killed all those people, not me. You can interrogate him all you want."
Fudge nodded. "I think I need to. Shall we go in-"
At that moment, the clouds cleared and the full moon shined down on the grounds. Remus fell over in pain.
"REMUS!" Summer ran towards him, bur Brittany caught her arm.
"No, you've got to get away!" She said, turning to face Remus. "He's transforming. Soon, he'll be in his wolf form. Nick and I can't be turned into werewolves, so we'll stay and fight him."
"Fight?" Summer asked. "You can't do that!"
"It's the only way." Nick said, taking out a sword. The three of them were the only ones left outside. "We have to use our powers to hold him off, while you get inside and make sure all the students are safe."
"But you'll hurt Remus!" Summer insisted.
"Summer, GO!" Brittany turned to Summer, who backed away slightly in fright. She had never seen Brittany (or any other vampire) vamped out before. The sight of her childhood friend with glowing, red demon-like eyes and long fangs struck fear in her heart. She turned and ran inside as fast as she could. She went upstairs in the castle, and looked out on the fight from the window above.
--------
"So any ideas on how to fight it?" Brittany asked.
"Just make sure he doesn't leave this area." Nick said. By this time, Remus had fully transformed. "He's got to be one of the largest werewolves I've seen! No wonder it was so hard for him to control that side of himself."
The Remus wolf got up, snarling. In lunged for Brittany, who dodged the attack, grabbed Remus, and threw him as if he were light as a feather. He slammed into the ground, and it took him a moment to get up. He made repeated attacks on both the vampires, who dodged him. Finally, Nick tried too late to get out of the way, and was bit in the shoulder by Remus' giant fangs. Nick screamed, and stabbed Remus in the chest. The Remus wolf howled, backed away, and fell over.
"Remus..." Summer said in disbelief from the window. "NOOO! REMUS!"

CHAPTER FOUR

Summer ran outside, but was caught by Brittany.
"You can't touch him until he's fully human, or else he may scratch you." Brittany said.
Summer fought to get to Remus. It was impossible for a human to fight a vampire's strength, but Summer knew she had to help Remus. Soon, he had returned fully to human form. Brittany let Summer run to him. She knelt by Remus, crying.
"Remus! Remus are you okay?" Remus didn't answer.
"Nick, teleport yourself and Lupin to the hospital wing." Brittany said. "I'll stay with Summer."
Nick nodded. With one hang, he held his bleeding shoulder. With the other, he touched Remus' forehead, and they were gone. Summer starred at the spot Remus had been laying on.
"Will he be okay?" Summer asked.
"If he gets treatment right away." Brittany said, moving a little closer to Summer. "Let's go see them."
Summer nodded, and walked to the hospital wing with Brittany. Madame Pomfrey wouldn't let them go inside until she was finished treating Remus and Nick, though. For once in their lives, Brittany and Summer remained completely silent. Finally, they were let in. Nick had bandages on the area where Remus had bit him. He looked slightly in pain, but was sitting up in bed. Remus, however, was still unconscious.
"He got it a lot worse than me." Nick said. "He had to have a blood transfusion. Apparently, there's some small blood bank somewhere in the school, for emergencies only." He added as Brittany's eyes widened. Summer sat down in the chair next to Remus. Slowly, he opened his eyes.
"I transformed, didn't I?" He asked weakly.
"Yeah." Brittany said. "Nick and I had to fight you."
"We're sorry." Nick said. "But you were out of control. There wasn't anything else to do."
"I understand." Remus said.
"I don't!" Summer snapped. "Couldn't you have just paralyzed him like you did Snape?"
"It's not that simple on werewolves." Brittany said. "You must make eye contact, and he was moving too much for that."
"So you just went ahead and stabbed him?" Summer asked angrily.
"It was the only thing to do!" Nick said. "He was trying to kill me!"
"So you tried to kill him?" Summer asked.
"I didn't mean to hurt him so badly!" Nick said. "It was an accident!"
"Just shut up!" Summer said. She stepped forward and punched Nick in the face. Nick starred at her, shocked, and Summer walked out. Brittany started to go after her, but Nick caught her arm.
"Brittany, wait." he said. "You could ruin your friendship with Summer if you went out there and started yelling. She's just a mortal, so it didn't even hurt!"
"That really doesn't matter right now!" Brittany said, going out into the hall.
"Go away!" Summer yelled.
"No!" Brittany said. "Just calm down. It was all an accident, and Lupin's going to be fine!"
"Has Nick killed before?" Summer asked.
"Of course. He's a vampire." Brittany said.
"So what would keep him from killing in a fight? Nothing!" Summer said.
"Nick doesn't kill anymore!" Brittany said. "He stopped when he came to Hogwarts. I know he didn't do that on purpose!"
"You know?" Summer asked. "What makes you such an expert? Have you killed anyone?"
Brittany shook her head. "I've only fed on animals, so I've never killed a human."
"Would you?" Summer asked. She saw the mix of surprise and sadness on Brittany's face just before the vampire teleported out of sight, and Summer realized she'd gone too far.
--------
At dinner, Nick and Brittany never showed up. Summer decided to sit by Snape.
"Since those vampire ex-friends of mine turned out to be evil," Summer said, "you're my new best friend."
"WHAT?" Snape asked. "You've got to have forgiven them by now!"
"Nope, so move over!"
The table looked very empty. With the absence of Brittany and Nick, and with Remus still in the hospital, the students were louder than usual. Harry looked at the teachers still there.
"What should we tell them?" Harry asked. "They've got to hear something."
"Tell them that their precious vampires are murderers." Summer said.
"But they didn't even kill anyone!" Hermione said.
"They sure tried!" Summer snapped. Harry sighed and stood up. The room went quiet, and he began his speech.
"Um, I suppose you've already noticed that Professor Nerezza, Short, and Lupin are gone. Well, tonight, the rumored convict Sirius Black was found. But we also found Peter Pettigrew, who really committed the crimes. So Sirius is completely innocent. But in the moonlight, Professor Lupin, who hadn't received the potion to prevent himself from transforming, changed into his wolf form. Professor Short and Nerezza tried to fight him away from the school. But in the process, Professor Short was injured, and Professor Lupin was hurt quite badly. Professor Short has recovered, and Professor Lupin is still in the hospital wing. Just thought you should hear the real version of the story before rumors started."
--------
Later that night, Summer saw Brittany in the hall, and nobody else was around.
"Cough TRAITOR cough. Sorry Brittany, I have a cold..."
"Just shut up." Brittany said. "It's Snape's fault anyway. If he wouldn't have smashed Lupin's potion, he wouldn't have turned into a wolf and Nick wouldn't have had to stab him!"
"Sure, pass on the blame!" Summer said. "You know you're a traitor."
"I didn't even do anything!" Brittany yelled. "And Nick was just protecting himself! Lupin forgave us, why won't you?"
"Because I found out what you and Nick really are." Summer said. "You're just some heartless monsters!"
Brittany was shaking with rage. She walked towards Summer, who backed against the wall. Brittany punched the wall quite close to Summer, and leaned forward so she was only inches from her.
"Monster?" She asked in a low, angry voice. "You don't get it, do you? You can't imagine life as an immortal. Summer, someday, you and Lupin can get married, have kids, and grow old together. I can't do any of that. And maybe you could stay angry at me for the next five hundred years, or however long you live, but can you imagine if you died, and I had to spend centuries knowing that we never made up? Just thank God that you and Lupin can have a mortal life."
Brittany pulled away from Summer, and teleported out of the hall. Summer looked behind her, and noticed the dent in the stone wall where Brittany had punched it.
--------
When Brittany got back to her office, she noticed Snape sitting in a chair.
"Nerezza!" He said, in almost a pleading voice. "I'm glad you're here."
"You...are?" Brittany asked.
"Yes, it's about Mond." Snape said. "You have to be friends again!"
"You've got to talk to her about that." Brittany said. "She's the one who's still angry."
"I CAN'T TALK TO HER!" Snape said. "She's driving me CRAZY! She's become friends with Sirius, and they're following me. You know how annoying that can be."
"I suppose it is..." Brittany said, smiling at the thought of Summer following Snape. "One sec..." Brittany wrote something on a piece of paper. "Read this, and I'll try to get her to forgive me."
Snape looked at the paper. "You've got to be kidding!" He said.
"Oooh, I think I hear Summer coming..." Brittany said.
"FINE!" Snape said. "But I'll have to kill you later."
"Sure, just read it." Brittany said.
Snape growled, and began to read the note. "My name is Pretty Snapey-Poo. I am adorable. Watch my pretty Snapey dance."
"I believe it says to dance!" Brittany said. Snape glared at her, then did a little dance. "Nice, Pretty Snapey. Now, read the rest."
Snape sighed. "Oh mighty Brittany, will you help me in my time of need, because I am weak and girlie?"
Brittany nodded. "Okay, now I'll help you. By the way, smile!"
"Why?" Snape asked.
"You're on candid camera!" Brittany pointed to a small camera on one of her shelves. Snape stared at her for a moment. "I think the promise of watching that tape'll make all of my students get A's. What do you think?"
"You wouldn't..." Snape said.
"Can you get to it before me, Pretty Snapey?" Snape tried to get to the camera, but Brittany got to it first, and teleported out of the room, leaving Snape in a fit of rage.
--------
Summer went to answer the knock at the staff room's door, and almost slammed it when she saw Brittany and Nick.
"No, wait Summer." Brittany pushed the door open, and entered. "I'm sorry about what happened to Lupin. We really didn't mean for it to go that far."
"Yeah, I know..." Summer said, still a little mad. "But you were right, too. About what you said in the hall earlier. I'm, uh, sorry."
Brittany smiled and hugged Summer. It's nicer than being threatened by her, Summer thought.
"OH! And I just remembered..." Brittany pulled the tape from her pocket. You've got to see this!"
--------
Snape ran in the office as the three had finished the tape.
"GIVE THAT BACK!" Snape said.
"Ooooh! Pretty Snapey!" Summer said, then she, Brittany and Nick busted out laughing. Snape took the tape out of the VCR, and smashed it.
"You really think that's my only copy?" Brittany asked. Snape growled, then looked at his watch.
"It's 8:00, and Wednesday night. Shouldn't you be watching the OC?"
Summer stopped laughing. "OH NO!"
"Wait, it's Thursday..." Brittany said. "NO! That means it's time for Mad Mad House!"
"LIAR! Summer said. The girls began to wrestle for the remote.
"THE OC WAS JUST ON YESTERDAY!" Brittany said.
"NO IT WASN'T!" Summer tickled Brittany, making her let go of the remote. She turned over to Fox, but the OC wasn't on. "NOOOO!"
"Then it's DON TIME!" Brittany said, changing over to SciFi. But Mad Mad House wasn't on. "EEEEH!"
Nick lowered his voice, and asked, "What's going on?"
Snape held up his watch. "Simple, I told them the wrong day and time. It's Thursday, but it's only 7:00." Snape smiled. Brittany and Summer stopped crying. Summer pulled out her wand, and Brittany clenched her fist, her eyes beginning to change color.
"You did WHAT?" They asked. Snape looked nervously at the girls, and ran out the door.
--------
Summer was almost back to her office, when she saw Hermione, wand out, running down the hall. She stopped when she saw Summer.
"Quick, Peter's escaped!" She said. "He's somewhere in the Forbidden Forest! We can't let him get away!"
Summer nodded, and they ran outside and into the forest. A little way in, they split up to cover more ground. After a bit of searching, Summer saw a shape moving on her left. It was Peter, trying to run quietly.
"STOP!" She yelled. Summer ran after Peter, and yelled "Petrificus Totalus!"
The spell missed Peter slightly, and he held up his own wand, saying, "Accio Wand!"
Summer had been unprepared for an attack, and her wand flew into Peter's hand.
"You know I can't let you live, since you know the direction I'm going in." He said. Pointing his wand at Summer, he smiled cruelly. "Time to die, Miss Mond. Avada Keda-"
Peter hadn't even had time to say the last word, when a dark form swooped down on him. Summer had to look away from the sight.
"I'm done, Summer. You can look now." Summer turned to see Nick standing over Peter, who was laying on the ground.
"Did ... did you kill him?" She asked.
"No." He said. "I just took enough blood to make him faint. It's really the least I can do, after ... you know, what I did to Remus."
For a moment, they were silent. "I really am sorry. I just didn't know what else to do..."
Summer nodded. "Yeah, it's okay. Brittany thinks you're a good person, so I guess you can't be very bad."
"Thanks... I think." Nick said. "If you take my hand, I can teleport us all back to Hogwarts."
Summer nodded. Nick took her hand in his left, and put his right on Peter. In a fraction of a second, they were all back at Hogwarts.
--------
The first person they saw was Sirius. He jumped back at the sudden appearance of Nick, Summer, and Peter.
"Warn me before you do that!" He said. Then he noticed Peter. "You caught him! What'd you do?"
"Had a nice dinner together." Nick said happily, "I'll go find Harry and the others, and tell them to stop looking."
Nick teleported again, leaving Summer and Sirius in the hall.
"Uh, did he mean what I think he meant?" Sirius asked.
Summer sighed. "Yes. Vampires are so weird."
"Weird eyes, too." Sirius said.
"I think so, too!" Summer smiled. "Sirius, I think we'll get along just fine."
--------
Nick appeared in Brittany's office, and sat down on her couch. Brittany inspected Nick.
"Your skin's not as pale..." Brittany said. "Did you kill Peter?"
"No, but I did take some blood." Nick said. "Enough to make him pass out. So now he's being locked up. Tomorrow he'll be shipped off to Azkaban. And Fudge'll be gone, too."
"Wonderful." Brittany said, sitting next to Nick. "How's Lupin doing?"
"He's a lot better." Nick said. "I went to the hospital wing earlier. We played exploding snap."
Brittany looked down. "I need to ask ... what's human blood like?"
Nick looked at Brittany. "It is a lot better than that of animals, if that's what you're getting at. You're kinda lucky you've never tried it. Going from human to animal blood is like switching from Pepsi to Diet Pepsi."
Brittany laughed. "You're the only person in the world who would compare blood to Pepsi!" Brittany stopped laughing. "Oh, crap. Tomorrow the next edition of the Inkspot comes out. Can you imagine what's going to be in there? What with Hogwarts turning into a soap opera and all."

CHAPTER FIVE

Monday, Brittany went into divination, and noticed all the students stairing at her.
"...you're not going to stop until we talk about the fight, huh?" She asked.
"Nope." Neal said. "So start talking!"
"Harry really covered everything at dinner Friday..." Brittany said.
"This is all really wierd." Amber said. "I mean, I've never had my teachers fight before. Especially immortal and werewolf teachers."
"It's all very complicated." Brittany said. "And you have to remember that none of the people involved are human. That changes a lot..."
"I saw the fight!" Elizabeth, a Gryffindor, said. "It was awsome, but scary, too! Like a horror movie, come to life!"
"Horror movie?" Brittany asked, but nobody was listening.
"What was it like?" Heather asked, as she and everyone else moved closer to Elizabeth.
"Well, first Professor Lupin started turning into a giant wolf!" Elizabeth said, enjoying the attention. "And Professor Short and Nerezza grew fangs and their eyes turned red!"
"You can make yourself look like that?" Neal said, turning to Brittany.
"Well, yeah. All vampires can." Brittany sighed. "It happens if a vampire uses their powers, or if they're about to drink blood. Or if they just want to."
"It really is scary." Elizabeth said.
"That's because it's a natural instinct for humans to fear vampires." Brittany said.
"You talk like you're not either one." Nick had teleported into the class.
"You've never come to my classes before!" Brittany said.
"Well, my class is having a test today, and I was bored." He said. "And it's Hermione's day to watch Summer, so I'm completely free until the test is over."
"In that case, feel free to watch." Brittany noticed the class staring again. "WHAT NOW?"
"We know about you two..." Heather said slyly.
"You're all thinking about what it says in the Inkspot, aren't you?" Brittany asked.
"It's obvious you like each other!" Amber said.
"Well, I... We..." Brittany put her head in her hands. "I'm going to kill Hermione for making that stupid paper..."
"So are you two dating or what?" Elizabeth asked. Brittany and Nick both blushed as much as a vampire can. "See? Just that's enough to prove that you like each other."
"HEY! I don't pry into your personal life!" Brittany said. Nick laughed.
"Is this what you do in your class?" He asked. "I think I'll go back to my own class. I told them if anyone talked during the test, they got detention. Good luck!"
Nick teleported, and Brittany stared angrily at the place he had been standing a moment before. "I'm gonna have to kill him, too, for leaving me with all of you..." She muttered.
--------
Later, Brittany sat next to Nick in the staff room.
"Thanks for the help today." She said sarcastically. Nick smiled.
"Like you wouldn't have done the same thing in my class." Nick sighed. "I heard about what you said to Summer. About not being able to get married or have kids the mortal way. Does that mean you're mad that I turned you into a vampire?"
"No, it's not that." Brittany said. "I mean, I'm kinda sad that I won't be able to do mortal things like that. But..."
Brittany moved closer to Nick and kissed him.
"I'm happy with the choice I made." Brittany put her head on Nick's shoulder. "I love you. That's the main reason I had you change me into a vampire- so I could be with you."
"I love you, too, Brittany." Nick put his arms around Brittany. "I'm glad you aren't mad at me."
"If I was mad, you'd know." Brittany said, making Nick look at her nervously.
--------
Remus was in his office when Summer came in.
"Hi Remus!" She said. "Just thought I'd ask how your first day teaching after the fight was."
"Oh, you know the students here." Remus said. "They all wanted to talk about it. But Hogwarts has always been that way."
"I told 'em I'd give anyone who even mentioned it a detention." Summer said.
"Isn't that a bit harsh?" Remus asked.
"Well, yeah, but it worked." She said. "Have you completely healed?"
"Yes." He said. "Werewolves heal faster than humans. I'd probably still be in the hospital if it wasn't for that fact."
"I was really worried about you..." Summer said.
"I know." Remus said. "And it was nice, the way you talked with me while I was in the hospital. I guess it's true... opposites do attract."
Summer watched as Remus walked closer to her. He pulled her closer, and kissed her.
"I... I didn't know you really felt that way about me." Summer said.
"You thought you were just stalking me for no reason?" Remus asked.
"I wasn't stalking you!" Remus stared at Summer, and she smiled. "Well, maybe I was... Just a bit..."
--------
Summer walked into the staff room, smiling.
"....What is it?" Brittany asked.
"Nothing..."
"I can tell. If you're smiling like that, it must involve Lupin."
"HE KISSED ME!" Summer said, practically, jumping.
"Lucky you." Brittany replied. Snape walked in, and sat down, sighing.
"What's the matter with you?" Brittany asked.
"OH! I know this one!" Summer said, laughing slightly.
"Nothing is wrong with me." Snape said. "None of the students are at a high enough level of intellect to grasp the fine art of potions."
"Mmm...hmm. Tell me," Brittany said, "do you talk like that when you're teaching, because the vocabulary's almost out of MY grasp."
"Snapey's just mad because he doesn't have a girlfriend." Summer said. "Think about it- Nick has a girlfriend, Remus has a PERFECT girlfriend."
"I'd like to meet her..." Brittany muttered, but Summer paid no attention.
"And we all know Ron and Hermione want to date, so besides Harry, Snape's the only single guy in the school."
"Did it ever occur to you," Snape said, "that after seeing what Lupin has to put up with, I don't WANT a girlfriend?"
Brittany was laughing now. "Oooh he treated you!"
"DON'T SUPPORT HIM!" Summer said. "He's just mad that he's not stirring the cualdron...if you know what I mean..."
Both girls were laughing now. Snape sighed and began grading some papers.
"Seems like the muggles are getting interested in magic again." Brittany said, looking through muggle ads. "Toys R Us has plastic wands in the front page of their ads."
Summer smiled, thinking of a second meaning. "Do the wands do anything?"
Brittany smiled, because their sense of humor is the same. "Actually, they make 'magical sounds' if you press a button on em. Not that real wands do..." Again, both girls laughed.
"Well, the people holding the wands do..."
Brittany smiled. "So you're saying Remus makes a noise?"
Now they were laughing hysterically, and Snape stood.
"What would you do if I told Lupin this?"
"NO! DON'T YOU DARE!" Summer said, but Brittany was laughing harder, and said, "Yeah! Go tell him now!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Summer had grabbed onto Snape's foot in an effort to stop him from leaving, but he was trying to shake her off. "Don't go Snape! I love you!"
Summer looked up and noticed Remus and Sirius had just walked in when she had said the last sentence. Brittany was laughing so hard she practically fell over.
Summer jumped up. "Oh, Remus, I was just..."
"You don't even want to know." Brittany said through her laughter. Remus nodded slightly, and Snape left.
"What goes on at this school, anyway?" Sirius asked.
"It's not what it looks like." Brittany assured him and Remus.
"Then why did you say you love Snape?" Remus asked Summer, a slight bit of sadness and anger in his tone.
"OH, see I was telling Snape about touching your wand and I didn't want you to know-"
Summer stopped, realizing she had just givin away her own secret. Brittany really did lay back on the couch, taken over by laughter, and even Sirius was laughing.
"Hey, he gets it!" Brittany said, and the two kept laughing.
"...wand?" Remus slowly got it. "Oooh, you mean-"
"Yes!" Brittany said.
"Thinking back, a lot of things I didn't get before make sense now!" Remus said.
"I....I've gotta go!" Summer said, running out.
Brittany and Sirius were still laughing, but not quite as much.
"You know," Sirius said, "I almost feel sorry for her. Note the 'almost' in that."
"Yeah, guess we did kinda embarass her..." Brittany said.
"Maybe I should talk to her..." Remus said.
"No, I'll do it." Brittany said. "She'll probably want time alone, anyway. I can't imagine what I'd do if that would've happened between me and Nick... Uncomfortable..."
"But definately funny." Sirius said, and he and Brittany began laughing again.
--------
A while later, Brittany went into Summer's room.
"Summer, I brought you some dinner." She said. "I know you wern't in the Great Hall. Why?"
"You know why!" Summer said. "You found it so funny, my being humiliated."
"Summer..." Brittany put her hand on Summer's shoulder. "Come on, now. Sure, Sirius and I laughed about it. But even you have to admit it was funny. Really funny." Brittany laughed a bit, but noticed Summer was mad and tried to disguise it as a cough. "Anyway, Lupin's even more sensitive about those things than you are. He's not going to make fun of you for it."
"...I know." Summer said.
"But...I'm afraid I have some bad news." Brittany said. "Even if you and Lupin wanted to, you know, you couldn't."
"Why not?" Summer asked.
"Because if a mortal has sex with a werewolf, they'll turn into a werewolf, too."
"WHAT?" Summer's jaw dropped. "Are you SERIOUS?"
"'Fraid so." Brittany replied.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
"STOP SCREAMING!" Brittany yelled, holding her ears.
"But that's terrible! Isn't ther any way around this?" Summer asked.
"Well..." Brittany thought for a moment. "You can make him human again by killing the werewolf that bit him."
"REALLY?" Summer jumped up. "So why are we still sitting here? Let's go!"
"Woah, you just want to go kill some guy?" Brittany shrugged. "Ah well, with luck, he's a murdered. Okay, next week's a four day weekend. We'll leave in the afternoon on Friday."

CHAPTER SIX

Everyone was in Harry's office. Brittany was folding a sheet of paper into a crane, and everyone except Snape, Hermione, and Remus were only half awake as Harry spoke.
"Well, Hagrid's gone." He said.
"What? You mean he's disappeared?" Ron asked.
"No, he went on vacation with Madame Maxime... don't any of you remember me telling you?" Remus and Hermione nodded. "Well, anyway, he's proposed to her, so they'll be getting married next month. So he'll be living in France, and won't be able to work here anymore."
"So we'll need a replacement groundskeeper..." Said Remus.
"Hey, Sirius could do it!" Summer said.
"Me? Why me?" Sirius asked.
"Well it's not like you're too busy to do it." Summer said. "And then you'd have an actuall reason to stay here."
"But what about all the stuff in the forest!" Sirius said. "I just got out of prison! I don't want some monster to kill me!"
"Well Brittany and I can help with that." Nick said. "I don't think there's anything strong enough to kill a vampire in there."
"So it's settled." Harry said.
"Thanks Summer..." Sirius grumbled.
As everyone was leaving, Brittany walked to Remus and said, "There's something Summer and I need to talk to you about."
"Oh that's right." Said Summer. They led Remus to the staff room, and told him their plan to kill his maker.
"You can't do that!" Remus said in a mix of shock and anger. "You'd be killing an innocent person just to make me human!"
"But it's the only way, Remus." Brittany said. "And not many werewolves are as civilized as you are. Most like to kill, and are more violent than vampires."
Remus looked down. "I know... but..."
"You don't even have to kill it." Brittany said. "You just have to come along because you'll be able to tell if it's really the wolf that made you."
Remus had run out of excuses, but still looked like he wanted to argue.
Sirius and Nick entered, and Brittany said, "Hey, wanna come on a werewolf hunt Friday?"
"...You're not talking about Remus, are you?" Nick asked nervously.
"No, not him!" Brittany said. "Whoever made him. We're gonna kill that werewolf so Remus will turn human."
"Oh, alright then." Nick said.
"Well I'll come too!" Sirius said. "I've been friends with Remus longer than any of you, so I owe it to him to go."
"But isn't Friday a full moon?" Nick asked.
"Oh yeah." Brittany said. "Well, Remus could just take his potion, but that means you won't be able to go, Summer."
"Ah well. I think two vampires and two wizards can handle one werewolf." Said Summer.
"Unless he's in a pack..." Brittany mumbled. Remus walked out, saying, "I can't believe I'm doing this..."
"Well now that that's settled," said Brittany, "who wants to play cards?"
Nick laughed. "Are you kidding? You'd just read everyone's mind to see what cards they had."
"I'd never do that!" Brittany said.
"Sure..." Said Nick, then he disappeared.
"Well, what about a game I can't cheat at?" Brittany asked.
Summer smiled. "OH! Let's play Pretty Pretty Princess!"
"What?" Sirius and Brittany asked.
"Come on! It'll be great fun!" Summer said.
"Well, I haven't played in a long time..." Brittany said.
"Do I really have to do this?" Asked Sirius.
"Of course you do." Summer said. Brittany teleported to Summer's office, got the game, and came back.
"I'll be green." Summer said.
"Then I'll take blue." Said Brittany.
"...I'll be yellow, then." Sirius said.
"We don't have yellow." Summer said. "Only pink."
"But I can see the yellow necklace right there!" Sirius pointed to the yellow beads.
"Well, the necklace, yes, but the earrings are missing." Summer explained.
"I'll just use the pink earrings." Said Sirius.
"No, that just makes things too complicated. You'll be pink."
Sirius sighed. By the time it was time for Summer, who had gone first, to have her next turn, Hermione walked in.
"Is that Pretty Pretty Princess?" She asked.
"Yeah. Wanna play?" Brittany asked.
"All right. I haven't played this in ages."
"You can be yellow." Summer said.
"But I thought you didn't have yellow!" Exclaimed Sirius.
"Oh, look, the earrings were in the box all the time!" Summer said. "Silly me."
Several turns later, Sirius only needed the crown to win the game.
"How is it," Brittany asked, "that a MAN can play this game with THREE GIRLS and the MAN can win PRETTY PRETTY FREAKIN' PRINCESS!"
On Sirius's turn, sure enough, he got the crown. "I'm no man! I am the PRETTY PRETTY PRINCESS!"
Sirius noticed the girls smirking, and turned to see Snape, holding the potion that would make Remus keep his human form. He and Sirius just stared at each other for a moment, until Snape said, "I was looking for Lupin. Is he here?" Sirius shook his head. "I see..."
Slowly, Snape backed out, and everyone except Sirius laughed.
--------
Wednesday, Summer was teaching herbology for the Slytherins. Sirius was watching her today.
"Why did I have to be here on the boring day?" He asked Summer.
"Well I need someone fun to talk to with all these Slytherins around!" Summer said.
One of the students, a girl named Kim, came over to Summer. "Excuse me, Professor Mond-"
"HEY! I'm having an important discussion here!" Summer said. "Five points from Slytherin."
"But I didn't do anything!" Kim said.
"HEY! Fifty points for talking back to a teacher." Summer looked at Sirius. "This is fun..."
"Nothing in the world like good old Slytherin hating." Sirius said. "And... ten points from Slytherin for interrupting the discussion of the groundskeeper! Actually, twenty because I'm new, and you could hurt my self confidence!"
Summer looked at the rest of the class. "Oh, fifty points from you there for breathing too loud!"
"And you! Do you like Snape?" Sirius asked one student.
"Sure..." The student said nervously.
"Well fifty points for that!" Sirius said.
"Can you really take points?" One boy asked.
"... Fifty points for questioning my authority!" Sirius exclaimed.
Sarah turned to another Slytherin. "And fifty points from you!"
"What'd I do?" The student asked.
"You were looking at me." Summer said. "You know, that way you are now..."
Brittany suddenly appeared in the class. "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!"
"Nothing, why?" Summer asked innocently.
"The emeralds are draining out of the Slytherin hourglass faster than they ever have!"
"Really?" Sirius asked.
"Now, how many points did you take?" Brittany asked.
"A few...hundred..." Summer said.
Brittany sighed. "I'll just have Hermione figure it out later... But I'm going to stay for the rest of the class to make sure you both behave."
--------
At dinner, Summer was staring at the hourglasses.
"I've always wondered, what would happen if a half point was taken..."
"Don't do it, Summer." Hermione said. "You've already caused enough trouble by taking all those points away earlier."
"I'll give it right back!" Summer said. "And just to prove I'll give it back, I'll take the point from my own house. One half point from Gryffindor!"
The entire staff, even Snape, watched as a ruby rose half way up.
"So they just go to different heights?" Brittany asked.
"I guess..." Summer said. "One-third point from Gryffindor!"
Another ruby rose, but slightly lower than the first.
"That's cool." Summer said. "One half and one-third point to Gryffindor."
The rubies went back down.
"I wonder..." Summer said. "No, never mind..."
--------
Brittany walked into the great hall around four in the morning. She knew Summer probably would have tried something over night. When she looked at the hourglasses, her eyes widened and she mentally told everyone to come to the great hall, and when they were there, she said, "Now I wonder who did THIS!"
The hourglasses had their gems rearranged to spell out "I (heart) R L."
"SUMMER!" Harry and Hermione yelled at the same time.
"Hey, now what makes you think it was me!" Summer said. "I mean, maybe R L stands for someone besides Remus."
"They never said it was Remus..." Brittany said.
"Oooook, well, maybe Sirius did it! he's been like a brother to Remus!"
Brittany sighed. "Summer, quit while you're not too far behind..."
Hermione took her wand out and began the charm to undo everything Summer had done, and Harry said, "Summer, you've got to quit messing with the points!"
"I'm done." Said Summer. "I've had my fun."
"I guess you're kinda lucky." Nick said to Remus. "Your girlfriend would break job regulations to proclaim her love..."
"She didn't do it because she's romantic, she did it because she's crazy." Brittany pointed out.
"HEY! I'm romantic!" Summer said. "After all, I won't see Remus for a while after Friday."
"You're leaving?" Snape asked hopefully.
"No, Brittany, Remus, Nick, and Sirius are going to find the werewolf that made Remus."
Snape stopped. "So... You'll be here all alone? With no one to bother?"
"Except you!" Summer said brightly.
As Snape looked at Summer in horror, Brittany chimed, "Look at it this way, at the most, we'll only be gone for three days!"
"Three....days?" Snape sighed. "This is my fault. I shouldn't have given Lupin the potion ahead of time."
--------
Remus, Sirius, Nick, and Brittany left Hogwarts on Friday evening.
"Any ideas on how we're supposed to find this werewolf?" Sirius asked.
"None yet..." Remus said. They heard something in a nearby bush, but when Nick went closer, it was only one of the oversized spiders that lives in the forest. Remus scared it away with a beam of light, but Brittany still whimpered slightly.
"You're afraid of spiders?" Remus asked.
"I have been my entire life." Brittany said.
"Why are you afraid of spiders, anyway?" Nick asked.
"Because they're creepy and they move fast and they'll try to bite you!" Brittany said.
Nick laughed. "You do realize the same applies to you and I?"
"YES but it's different with spiders! Eeeh I don't like anything with more than four legs..." Brittany shuddered.
"Brittany," said Sirius, "I hate to break this to you, but YOU'RE A VAMPIRE! You're what mankind has been fearing for thousands of years! You could kill everything in this forest if you really wanted, and you're AFRAID OF SPIDERS!"
"Well they're creepy... Just ask Ron..." Brittany said. She jumped to the top of a nearby tree, and looked around. "From here, I can see two werewolves. Recognize either of them?"
"I can't see them from here." Remus said.
"Then come up here!" Brittany said. "You have to know you have powers! USE THEM!"
"What does she mean?" Sirius asked.
"Well, werewolves can use some of their powers in their human form." Remus said. "But I don't like to use my powers..."
"Makes you feel evil?" Nick asked, and Remus nodded.
"Ha. Louis complex." Brittany said. "Well you won't be a wolf much longer. So come on!"
Remus sighed and jumped next to Brittany. He looked around, then jumped back to the ground with a sigh. "No, neither of those are him."
"This is impossible." Nick said as Brittany came back to the ground. "it's like finding a needle in a haystack!
"If only we had something to go by..." Brittany looked at Remus and smiled slightly.
"...I don't like the way you're looking at me." Remus said.
"I have an idea!" Brittany said. "If I took a bit of your blood, I'd be able to sense other things with the same blood."
"Would that even be safe?" Remus asked nervously.
"Maybe not, from such a young vampire." Nick said. "No self-control. Let me do it."
"Will it hurt him?" Sirius asked.
"Not much." Nick replied. "Some people don't even notice the pain."
Remus hesitated, then held out his hand. Nick bit his wrist, and barely took a mouthful of blood. He then cut his finger, and let a few drops of his blood fall on Remus's wrist, healing it.
"I can sense the one that has to be Remus's maker about five miles from here." Nick said. "But it feels like there's other people around him..."

CHAPTER SEVEN

"We're getting closer." Remus said, as he, Brittany, and Sirius followed Nick through the forest. "Even I can feel him now."
"Good. I'm getting tired of this." Brittany said. "Running through a forest isn't my idea of how to spend Friday night..."
"Come on, this is helping Remus." Nick said. "So quit complaining."
"If you two want to stop arguing," Sirius said, "there's a clearing up ahead."
Brittany and Nick, who were in front, went into the clearing first.
"I don't see anything," said Nick. "But I can feel a presence here. Something's not right..."
The sound of chains made them turn. A werewolf, not as large as Remus, but still large, was chained to some thick trees.
"Chains?" Brittany moved slightly closer to the wolf. "But who would-"
Before she could finish, Brittany was hit with a black beam of light. Nick turned just in time to see three figures disappear.
"That was Voldemort..." he said.
"Oww....ow..." Brittany slowly recovered from the attack.
"Are you all right?" Nick asked.
"NO I'M NOT ALL RIGHT!"
"Well she must be a little better if she can yell like that..." Sirius mumbled.
"Something's really really wrong..." Brittany said nervously. "My vision and hearing aren't very good and I feel really weird..."
Nick looked at Brittany for a moment, then said, "I think I know what happened ... but it seems a little farfetched..."
"What?"
"I think... you're mortal."
For a long time, no one said anything. Then Brittany screamed.
"WHAT?"
"Calm down!" Sirius said. "Nick can just change you back," he turned to Nick, "can't you?"
"Well, we should wait until we've figured out what Voldemort did to her before I change her again."
"WELL THAT'S JUST PERFECT!" Brittany yelled. "Remus, is this wolf even your maker, or just some random person?"
"Yes, that's him."
Brittany wiped out her wand. "AVADA KEDAVERA!" As the wolf died and Remus became human, Brittany said, "Okay, mission accomplished. We're going back to Hogwarts. NOW!" She yelled when nobody moved to follow her.
"Feel sorry for you, mate." Sirius said to Nick. The vampire sighed, and the group returned to Hogwarts.
--------
"So...let me get this straight..." Harry said slowly. "Voldemort's back, Brittany lost her powers, and we have no idea what spell he used?"
Everyone nodded.
"Look on the bright side," Nick said. "Now you're down to one teacher who's not human. The parents should be happy about that."
"That is not a bright side!" Brittany hissed.
"I think the first thing we should do," Hermione said, ignoring Brittany, "is figure out what kind of curse Voldemort used on Brittany. What was it's effect?"
"I thought we already knew the effect?" Summer said.
"Well, yes, it somehow turned Brittany mortal. But what was the benefit for Voldemort? And why not attack Nick, too?"
"Yeah, why not Nick?" Summer muttered.
"Anyhow, I'll start looking for the spell."
Brittany stood. "Then I'm leaving. I wouldn't be much help, anyway, since I'm not used to being a mortal..."
"I'm sure you'll get it after a few years..." Snape said, smiling.
"Oh YOU HAVE GONE TOO FAR!"
"Hit him! Hit him hard!" Summer cheered.
"I think it's time to go..." Nick said, pulling Brittany away.
--------
Brittany was in her office, still mad about being a mortal, when Nick came in.
"Oh, hi." She muttered.
"Hi... uh... can I talk to you about something?"
"Yeah... something wrong?"
"No, it's not that..." Nick sat down. "You see, you being mortal may be a good thing in a way..."
"Explain."
"Well, there's a spell that will only work between a mortal and vampire, a really hard to cast spell, and I'm not saying I can actually make it work, but if I could-"
"Oh just say it!"
"I think we could have a child."
Brittany went completely still. For almost a full minute, she didn't move.
"Are you serious?" She whispered.
"Yeah." Brittany jumped up and threw her arms around Nick.
"Oh my god that's WONDERFUL!"
"But what if it doesn't work?" Nick asked, even though he was smiling.
"We just won't tell anyone." Brittany said. "That way, if something goes wrong, only we'll know, so nobody else will be disappointed. Okay?"
Nick nodded, and kissed Brittany.
--------
Saturday afternoon, Sirius walked into the staff room. "What are all those?" He said, pointing to the small boxes on the floor.
"All my DVD's." Brittany said. "I decided it was time to sort them. Wanna help? I'm trying to get them in alphabetical order."
"Spend Saturday organizing?"
"Not like you have anything else to do..." Summer pointed out.
"Oh that hurt." Sirius sat down next to the girls. "So what letter have you done up to?"
Brittany looked at the stack of DVD's to her right. "We just finished 'J'"
"And Brittany gave a long talk on how much she LOVES Jurassic Park..." Summer said dully.
"WELL, it was a good series!"
"That was the one about those dinosaurs, right?" When the girls stared at Sirius, he said, "Well, I'm not completely sheltered from the muggle world."
"Anyway, just look for 'K's."
"Hmm... found one!" Sirius said. "Ooh, who's the hot girl?"
"Is girls all you care about?" Summer asked, but Brittany looked at the cover and said, "That's Uma Thurman. Oh you'd like Kill Bill, there's a lot of chicks in it. And by the way, Summer, who are you to say he's too obsessed with girls? Shall I name all the guys you like?"
"There's not THAT many!"
"Probably just as long as Sirius's."
"Maybe I should come back later..." Everyone turned to see Remus at the door. "I may not have gotten the wand thing right away, but I know better than to come into the room when Summer and Brittany are arguing!"
"No, it's all right. We were just trying to decide if Sirius liked more girls than Summer does chicks."
"ACTORS, Remus." Summer assured him.
"Moving right along, just try to find the Lord of the Rings now..." Brittany said.
Summer looked at Remus. "You know, I just thought of something."
"Shocker." Brittany joked.
"Brittany and I are kind of like your new Sirius and James!"
"Oh I have to hear this." Sirius said.
"See, we're like his new wild and crazy friends at Hogwarts. I'm his Neo-Sirius, and Brittany is his Neo-James."
"Well that would make Nick Neo-Lilly." Sirius pointed out. "And what about the classic Sirius?"
Summer thought a minute. "You're now Neo-Summer."
"Now wait just a minute! I think if I was a girl I could have done better than Remus!" Sirius said.
"No you couldn't have. I'm even out of your league." Remus said.
"And I thought of something else!" Summer said. "All our little adventures here would make a great movie."
"I want Angelina Jolie to play me." Brittany said, as Summer rolled her eyes. "Of course, she's a little too tan..."
"Hmm... I wonder who would play me..." Sirius said.
"Some guy who usually plays crazy villains," SAID Summer.
"Oh please, now who would want to make me look insane?"
Summer laughed, and they kept sorting. Then Summer said, "I just had a crazy idea- Since I was talking about the Neo-Summer and Sirius thing, what if Sirius and I traded spaces tomorrow?"
"Well, what would I have to do?" Sirius asked.
Brittany smiled, but Summer said, "Oh stop thinking that way. Anyway, you'd just teach my herbology and muggle studies class, and I would teach care of magical creatures."
"Well now I really like this idea, because tomorrow's the day I was going to show the hippogriffs!"
Summer froze, but Brittany said, "Don't worry, I'll help and so will Ni- I mean, Neo-Lilly. If you think about it, you're probably more likely to be killed by one of your plants than a hippogriff."
"Yeah, but it'll be more painful if I'm killed by a hippogriff..." Summer said.
--------
Monday morning, Summer and the others decided to meet before the classes just to look the hippogriffs over.
"Why did I get sucked into this? Can't you just call me Nick instead of Neo-Lilly?"
"No, just go along with it for today. You're Lilly, I'm James, Summer's Sirius, Sirius is Summer, and Remus is, well, Remus." Brittany said.
"I know, but Lilly?"
"Just deal with it for today." Brittany said.
"Okay, so there's eleven of them." Sirius said.
"No, there's twelve. See? There's a little one over there." Summer said.
"What? I didn't know any of the hippogriffs were even pregnant!"
"OOOOOOOOOH! That's not a hippogriff! THAT'S A GRYFFIN!" Brittany said, running over to the little gryffin and picking it up. "You see how it has a lion's body instead of a horses? Aww, poor little girl's parents must have died. Gryffins are usually great parents, and they would NEVER leave their child."
"How do you know it's a girl?" Sirius asked.
"How do you THINK I know? It's the same as with every animal- It's either an innie or an outie!" Summer and Nick both laughed as Brittany said, "Aww, she looks like a good Ren."
Nick stopped laughing. "Wait, you're naming it? No, no you can't name it! That would mean you're planning on keeping it!"
"Aww, but she's so cute! She's just screaming 'Take me home and love me forever!' Aren't you Ren?"
"Looks like I have one less dangerous animal!" Sirius said.
Nick sighed. "But I have something dangerous to deal with... and now she's got a pet!"
--------
"Okay everyone, today he's Summer and she's Sirius. Got it?" Brittany asked, as Summer's muggle studies class met in the quidditch pitch.
"And today we're doing football!" Summer said. "Neo-Summer's leading one team, I'm leading the other."
Brittany watched as the game became a wrestling match between Sirius and Summer for possession of the ball.
"Um... why is Sirius on Summer?"
"Oh, hello Hermione." Brittany and Hermione looked back at Summer, who was now screaming at Sirius. "They're just playing football."
"So violently?"
"Well, that's just Summer's way."
"I suppose so... Anyhow, I wanted to tell you I've found out how to make you a vampire again."
"That's great! So what do I do?"
"Come to Harry's office after the classes are over. Tell those two to come, too."
"All right. See you later, then." As Hermione left, Brittany shouted, "Neo-Sirius! Neo-Summer! I have to talk to you!"
--------
"So what's the plan?" Brittany asked eagerly.
"Well the spell Voldemort used on you only stole your immortality." Hermione explained.
"So Voldey's a vampire?" Summer asked.
"No, but he's immortal."
"How do we kill him if he's immortal?" asked Harry.
"I'm getting to that! Even though he's immortal, if Brittany were to use the same spell to take her powers back, then everything would go back to the way it was. Except that Voldemort would be paralyzed for a few seconds, giving Harry enough time to, well, kill him."
Nick looked up nervously. "But then... Brittany would be a vampire again, right?" Hermione nodded.
"The plan works on so many levels." Brittany said.
"Wait, we need to talk about this." Nick led Brittany outside the office, so nobody could hear them, and said, "Brittany, if you were immortal, then you wouldn't be able to have a baby!"
"I know that," said Brittany. "But if I don't go through with this plan, then Voldemort will be immortal, and you have to know how many people would die because of that."
Nick's eyes widened. "But Brittany, you'd be killing our child..."
"Nick, it's the only way." Brittany looked down. "Just pretend like everything's okay, and don't tell anyone. It's bad enough that we have to be sad over it, nobody else should know..."
Nick nodded, and watched Brittany walk back towards her office.

CHAPTER EIGHT (FINAL)

Brittany walked to the front of the room in divination.
"Okay class. Today we're going to- what are you doing here?"
Summer walked in and sat near the front.
"What?"
"You don't care about divination. You don't even believe in it!"
"Sure I do! Well not really but I'm staying anyway. You won't even know I'm here."
"...Fine. Okay, well, today we're going to continue our meditation-"
Summer laughed. "WHAT? That's not magic!"
"YES IT IS! It helps you control your magic, and clears your mind and body of stress, so you can do better."
"Uh-huh."
"So first we'll clear the tables away-" Brittany waved her wand and the tables went to the side of the room. She gave a depressed sigh as she put her wand back in her pocket. "Dang. I used to be able to do that without magic... Well, anyway, first everyone has to lay down. Completely relax your limbs."
"Are you SURE this is useful?"
"Shut up Summer! This activity works better for people who believe it'll work. Now, imagine a ball above your chest. We'll call it a 'tension ball.' Picture the ball clearly. Imagine what color it is; what size it is; imagine if it makes a noise STOP GIGGLING SUMMER; does energy pulse through it; anything like that. Now, imagine it moves down over your left foot, and it expands and surrounds it. And as it does, it takes all the tension out of your foot, leaving it completely relaxed."
Summer sighed. "This is idiotic."
"NO IT'S NOT! It's relaxing. Or it least it was, until someone showed up and had to keep asking annoying questions!"
"Whatever. I'm gonna go throw my tension ball at Snape!"
Summer cupped her hands as if she was holding a ball, and ran out. Brittany sighed. "Man... I should lock my door before class..."
From the window, everyone heard Summer yell, "HEY SNAPE! CATCH!"
Brittany shut the window. "Moving right along..."
--------
"Oh, that looks bad! What happened?"
Snape, who had a black eye, looked at Brittany. "That FRIEND of yours came running up to me earlier-"
"Uh...around two-ish?"
"How'd you know?"
"Lucky guess. Anyway, what happened?"
"She threw a rock at me!"
"What? I thought she was just going to throw an imaginary ball..."
"YOU PUT HER UP TO IT?"
"No! Well, I did give her the energy ball idea, but she was the one who decided to throw a rock! If I'd have known that... hehe... I never would have told her about it!"
"YOU'RE LAUGHING?"
Brittany was fighting laughter as best she could. "Well... it is a bit funny..."
"I can't believe this..."
"Well if you're mad do something! You could always duel her... but then again she could always defeat you with her mighty ROCK."
"It's not funny!" Snape snapped.
"What's happen-oh, I should leave."
"YOU STOP RIGHT THERE!"
Summer had just come in, but had quickly turned around.
"What? You want me to say I'm sorry?"
"YES!"
"Well I am."
"You know," said Brittany, "I doubt any girls would want to date you, now that you've just been beaten by a girl ten years younger than you."
"I don't need a girlfriend." Snape said. "For you're information, I'm married."
"WHAT?" Brittany and Summer chorused.
"I...wait, you're married?" Asked Brittany. "You? To a girl?"
"Yes of course to a girl!" Snape said.
Summer blinked. "Well... I mean, if she's with HIM she's either really crazy or really ugly."
"I don't know WHY I'm doing this, but..." Snape took a picture out of his pocket, featuring him and a woman with jet black hair and brown eyes.
The girl's eye's widened. "WOW! She's HOT!" Summer said.
"Calm down Summer. She's already married." Brittany joked. She turned to Snape. "When did this happen?"
"In two months, it will be our fifth anniversary."
"And you didn't tell us?" Summer asked. "But Snapey, we're your best friends!"
"You're not my best friends."
"Look around. Not many people like you."
"So... she's Misses Snape? That sounds weird," said Brittany. "What's her name?"
"Mia."
"Ooh, Italian?"
"Yes."
"HEY! I've got an idea," Summer announced. "Let's floo her!"
"NO! You can't do that!"
"Yeah, it'll be fun!"
Just then, Hermione ran in.
"Everyone, come to Harry's office, quick!"
As she ran off, Brittany looked at Snape. "This isn't over! We're going to meet Mia someday soon!"
--------
"This is really serious," Harry said. "Voldemort and his Death Eaters have been spotted at the Shrieking Shack. This may be our chance to stop them ... but..."
"You don't think we can do it?" Brittany asked. "Of course we can! We're not Dumbledore's last result for teachers for no reason!"
"But this will be the hardest thing we've ever done!"
"You don't know that. What if Voldey's all show?" Brittany asked.
"I really doubt that."
"Well, think whatever you want. I'm going out to get back my powers."
--------
Everyone entered the Shrieking Shack with wands drawn.
"Do you know where Voldemort is?" Brittany asked Nick.
"...I can sense one person in the attic, and a lot of people in the next room."
"So Voldemort must be in the attic. Waiting for us." Harry said.
"Are you two sure you want to go alone?" Remus asked.
Brittany smiled. "Sure! Y'all have fun with the Death Eaters! Give Malfoy's dad a good kick for me!"
"Okay!" Summer said, though she didn't sound convinced.
Nick kissed Brittany, and said, "Be careful."
"Oh please! What'll you do if I die? Kill me?"
Everyone smiled very slightly as Brittany and Harry went up the stairs.
~~~THE MAIN FLOOR, 7:06 PM~~~
No sooner had Brittany and Harry left than eight Death Eaters flooded the room. Hermione and Summer both managed to stun one Death Eater each, and after that everyone seemed to pair off and fight. Summer fought the only female Death Eater, a gaunt woman with dark eyes. But somehow, Summer got backed into a wall. The Death Eater yelled "Accio wand!" and Summer's wand flew out of her hand. Remus, who had just used the total body bind on the Death Eater he had been fighting, ran to stand between the two.
"Stay away from her!" He yelled. He and the Death Eater dueled, but she hit his arm with a spell, and he dropped his wand.
"Hmm... I suppose one spell will work for both of you."
The Death Eater said. She pointer her own wand at Summer and Remus, who were standing very close together, and yelled "AVADA KEDAVERA!"
They shut their eyes just as they saw a flash of green, but after a moment, nothing happened. Summer finally looked up to see the Death Eater, who had wide eyes, and Nick, who was standing between them.
"Why didn't my spell work?" The Death Eater asked, obviously shocked.
Nick smiled slightly. "You can't kill something that's already dead."
The Death Eater turned to run, but Nick was already in front of her and grabbed her. Summer and Remus looked away, but knew what had happened from the woman's scream. Summer also noticed that all the other Death Eaters had been bound, and their wands had been taken away.
"So that's it?" Nick asked finally.
"I guess so," Sirius said. "I see you've met Bella."
"Bella?"
Sirius nodded to the body. "My cousin."
"Oh no I'm so sorry! I didn't know she was your family!"
"No, it's fine. I hated her."
Remus sighed, then hugged Summer tightly.
"I was so worried that I'd loose you." He said.
"Remus..." Summer hugged him back.
"I want to be with you forever."
Summer pulled away. "Remus ... did you just propose?"
He blinked. "I guess I did! So will you marry me?"
"WELL OF COURSE!" Summer said, and hugged him again.
"Wait, do you hear something?" Hermione asked. "There's some strange noise coming form up stairs!"
"Oh no, Brittany!" Nick said. Before he could move, an odd green light filled the entire house.
"What's going on?!?" Summer yelled.
~~~THE ATTIC, 7:06 PM~~~
"Do you think they'll be all right?" Harry asked, as he and Brittany went up the stairs.
"Sure. I mean, they're all powerful."
"What if we never saw them again?"
"Stop being depressing! And you can't tell me you wouldn't be happy if you never saw Snape again!"
"Brittany..."
"Well, we're here," said Brittany, as they reached a door. "You ready?"
"I guess..."
The pair entered the room, and saw a single person standing in the center.
"So. You've finally found me." Voldemort said.
"Well you made it a bit obvious where you were." Brittany said. You could've gone for a cool evil lair or something, but instead you just went to a crappy old house..."
"SILENCE! The two of you come here, knowing you're no match for me, and begin insulting my power?"
"HEY! We have some major issues with you!" Brittany said.
"You killed my parents, and I had to live with my horrible Aunt and Uncle for most of my life!" Harry said.
"And you took my vampiric powers, and you're why my child will die!" Brittany yelled.
"What?" Harry asked, but Brittany ignored him.
"We have every right to kill you, and no matter what, you're going to die tonight!"
"Just try!" Voldemort said. At the same time, Harry and Brittany cast the spells to kill Voldemort and take away his immortality, and Voldemort cast a spell to kill them. The force of the three spells met in mid air, causing a blinding green light, but slowly Harry and Brittany's spells pushed Voldemort's back. When the light disappeared, Brittany was obviously a vampire again, but Voldemort was nowhere to be seen.
"Is ... is he gone?" Brittany asked.
"I don't know." Harry said. They inspected the area, and saw a mound of ash. "Did he just disintegrate? I guess that would make sense, given the strength of the three spells..."
"Then we did it! It's over!" Brittany put her hand on her stomach, and her eyes widened. "It's still alive... I can feel it!"
"What are you talking about?" Harry asked, but Brittany was already running back down the stairs.
~~~THE MAIN FLOOR, 7:31 PM~~~
The light disappeared, and there was a deafening silence. After a moment, there came the sound of two people running down the stairs.
"Brittany!" Nick said, embracing her. "You're alive! Sort of."
"Nick! The baby's still alive!"
"But... that's impossible!"
"Yeah, well, it's impossible for bees to fly, too, but they do!"
"Now for the last time, what are you talking about?" Harry asked. Brittany pulled away from Nick, blushing slightly.
"I didn't want to tell you, because I was afraid the spell wouldn't work, but... I'm pregnant."
"That's great!" Summer said. "And I'm engaged!"
"So everyone gets a happy ending! Except...." Brittany shifted closer to Ron and Hermione. "You two still need to get together..."
"What?" Hermione asked.
"Oh don't play innocent with me! You two have been eyeing each other since day one. So, you'll go on a date this Friday, and that's final."
"Okay, now everyone's happy." Summer said. "Except Snape. But he's never happy."
"Then it's time for a group hug!" Sirius declared, as he, Summer and Brittany threw their arms around Snape. He sighed, but didn't fight it.
--------
So you want to know what happened next? Well, everyone continued their jobs at Hogwarts. All the newspapers were on the story of the first child ever to be born to vampire parents. Remus and Summer began making plans for their wedding, a lovely outdoor ordeal by the ocean. Hermione and Ron are FINALLY dating, and it looks like they'll be engaged soon. Brittany and Summer did floo Mia, who turned out to be a quiet and kind person. Now they currently threaten Snape to tell Mia about anything mean he's done recently to the students. So, as Brittany said, everyone got that happy ending you all wanted.
~The End~
FAQ:
Q- Why weren't Harry, Ron, and Hermione in it more?
A- Because some person named J.K. Rowling already wrote a ton of crap about them.
Q- Wait, are you saying most of the stuff in the third book didn't happen in Harry's third year?
A- Yeah. I had to change it to make Sirius free.
Q- What were you on when you wrote this?
A- Nothing...
Q- LOOK A DUCK!
A- XD Fun with slap bracelets! (Sorry)
Q- Why didn't Brittany's baby die?
A- Same reason baby Harry didn't die- their moms loved them too much.
Q- What is your quest?
A- To seek the grail!
Q- Why didn't you kill Nick and put in Lestat?
A- I know that comes from you Sarah! Because it wouldn't make sense with the story ... even though Lestat's hotter and cooler...
Q- WHY DID YOU STAB REMUS?!
A- Because the story needed another chapter... no hard feelings ^^;
Q- Who are the characters based off of?
A- I think that's obvious for Harry, Ron, and Hermione. My friend Sarah is the base for Summer, and she's a bit of the base for Sirius. Remus is, of course, off the Rowling character, but I made him a bit more calm and innocent to make him even more of Summer's opposite. Brittany is me; that's why she was in it so much. I guess Nick is just the calmer, male me. I don't know.
