The rules are simple, and are generally like any other role playing game. They're in no particular order. If a rule is broken, there is one warning (depending on the severity) and then you're out of the game. We aren't asking for anything extreme here, so there shouldn't be any problems.
- This RPG caters to the original Japanese version! There shouldn't be anyone called Serena, Darien or Michelle in this RPG unless they are exchange students. Use Japanese names if they're from Japan.
- No one likes an "all powerful" opponent. Everyone has weaknesses. No powergaming. Stephen adds; "Remember, we're all here to write stories and have fun! Don't try and be a power player and leave those egos at the door." I hope that's.. uh... clear. ^_^;;;
- This is a play by email-based RPG (PBeM). If you have questions about how this email-based RPG works, see about email-based RPGs or our links for other resources. The RPG works if the players write; while you can be in as many different stories at a time as you can handle, be sure to email at least ONCE A WEEK. If you are away, notification with the council is necessary (posting on the message board will satisfy this requirement).
- When sending a story (through email of course), there should be no <<<<< or >>>>> at all! This gets really annoying, and it takes too much time to delete when proofreading the completed story.
- All players are in control of their profile on a webpage. The RPG will not be hosting profiles. No exceptions. Having control of your own character profile works best for everyone. A link/URL to the webpage of the character profile is required within 2-3 weeks of admission to the RPG. If there is a problem, consult the GM.
- Do not send chain letters to the members. Even those survey question emails are a no-no. ^_^;;
- Only one character to each player is permitted, unless using a NPC (non-player/principle character).
NOTE: Members who are already members of the RPG are OKed by the GM are able to use two characters. Please see the FAQ for details on "2nd characters".- NPCs are the creation of our members. Once created, they are open to all players at anytime without perimission. NPCs cannot be vital to the storyline or pose a major threat to the characters. If you are concerned or have questions, please ask the council. Series NPCs include Naru and Umino.
- Don't take control of another player's character without their permission. However, there are exceptions and limitations. For example; Player 1 (Kamen) writes: Tuxedo Kamen walked into the room. Minako hurried to catch up. Player 2 (Minako) can object to this and rewrite the part about her character if he/she chooses to. But, because it may help Player 1 to continue his/her part to the story, it can be overlooked. This, of course, is up to Player 2 to object and inform Player 1 of the problems and any changes he/she makes.
- If there is an important plot and not just a side story that wants be done (such as Makoto suddenly turns to the side of evil), the council will need to know and discuss/vote on it before beginning the story. If it's unclear whether or not the council should be informed; it's best to ask.
- You cannot kill another character off. This also needs to be run by the council first, as well as consent of that player's character that's going to be killed. This is especially important for series characters and will most likely not happen.
- This is in STORY form (like a novel). There is no amount to how much or how little a player has to write before emailing it on. But when it's finished, it should be able to read like any other story.
- We'd like to keep this at no more than an R rated rpg. Intimate scenes are permitted to a certain extent, as well as done maturely, and only if it's needed for the story. The RPG has no age requirement since it's not our job. We cannot enforce a lying child so we simply have not age limit. Make your best judgement. In the end, the writing sample in the application will determine the outcome.
- Stay in character when writing. For example; Haruka isn't going to suddenly put on a fancy dress to meet an online relationship. Oh God, the horror! ^_^;;
- Keep this "Sailormoon realistic". We don't want to see Bigfoot walking around crushing everything in sight.
- The council can't help you if we don't know what's going on! Let us in on what's bothering your progress whether it be technical or a social problem with another member. It is your responsibility to report any issues that may damage yourself, another member, or the RPG. We cannot take the responsibility for something we are unaware of.
- And of course while it's not exactly a rule but; be creative and have fun! ^_~*
