Tenchi Masaki
Age: 17
Height: 5'3"
Tenchi is the main "character" of the series. Personally, I pay more attention to Ryoko or the ladies rather than Tenchi, but he still is pretty amusing. He has a lot of problems that he sorts out through the series and is pretty strong and has good fighting skills. In the 5th episode of the OAV series he is "killed," but is brought back to life thanks to Tsunami. He then defeats Kagato by generating the Light Hawk Wings.
Tenchi has a good heart, but is indecisive about women. There are usually women all over him, but he never follows through with any of them. Ryoko, Ayeka, Sasami, Mihoshi, and Washu all have some sort of feelings for Tenchi. I don't think Kiyone has shown any attraction to Tenchi.
Tenchi's sword, the Tenchiken, is also known by Jurains as the *Master Key*. This is because this sword was the control mechanism for the space ship Funaho, Katsuhito's former ship. Since Yosho was to be next in line to rule Jurai, he recieved a key from Tsunami. Because the *Master Key* was from Tsunami, the first spaceship tree, the Tenchiken can also control all other Jurain ships.
Ryoko

Height: 5'3"
Ryoko is a space pirate that loves Tenchi and would do anything for him. Unfortunately, she is horrible at handling these types of things and often lets her emotions run away from her.
In the OAV series, Ryoko was created by Washu. At the beginning, Ryoko was controlled by Kagato and was forced to pillage many star systems. She attacked Jurai in an attempt to steal Tsunami and was chased to Earth by Yosho, where she was sealed in a cave. 700 years later, Tenchi accidentaly freed her from the cave.
Ayeka Jurai Masaki
Age: 23
True Age: 723
Height: 5'3"
Ayeka is the crowned princess of Jurai and can be bossy at times. Ayeka fixated with royalty and has had some experience with court life, but is bad with men just as Ryoko is. Like Ryoko, Princess Ayeka has taken a liking to Tenchi.
In the OAV series, she was supposed to marry Yosho because of some law their father made. However, Yosho left Jurai to pursue Ryoko and never returned. Ayeka left to search for him and ended up living with Tenchi and his friends. There is a small friendship with Ryoko that Ayeka has, but never really shows itself because of their competition for Tenchi.
Sasami Jurai Masaki

Height: 4'0"
Quote: "You're a naughty boy aren't you Tenchi... *giggle*"
Sasami is Ayeka's little sister. She knows how to deal with men better than the other girls, which frustrates them often. She seems to have a small crush on Tenchi. She is also a good cook.
In the OAV, there is much more to Sasami. It seems that when Ryoko attacked Jurai, she was thrown from an overhang in front of a Jurain tree. The tree was either Tsunami or one that was linked to Tsunami. Anyway, the tree merged with Sasami to save her life. In the process, Tsunami, who is the Jurain tree and one of the three goddesses. assimilated with her making them the same identity.
Kiyone Makibi
Age: 23
Height: 5'8"
Kiyone, for some tremendously stupid reason, is not in the OAV series. She is in the TV series and tends to be the sanest of all the girls, primarily due to the fact that she is not interested in Tenchi. She is Mihoshi's partner and she tends to "clean up" many of the messes Mihoshi gets them in.
Before meeting Mihoshi, Kiyone moved quickly through the ranks of the Galaxy Police Academy and had a good future. She finished at the top of her class and gained recognition before graduating.
During her first assignment, her partner ended up being Mihoshi. Needdless to say, with a partner like Mihoshi, Kiyone's career began to spiral downward. Her career was put on hold when she was assigned to the Sol System, making her a resident officer on Earth.
Mihoshi Kuramitsu
Age: 23
Height: 5'6"
Mihoshi is a blonde member of the Galaxy Police Force and is quite lucky. Her partner, Kiyone, has to be the unluckiest person in the world. She is the grandaughter of the GP head and for that reason gets many high-tech gadgets. You could say that if she stops one problem, she starts a new one at the same time.
In the OAV, she in commanded to scout for Kagato, but crashes her ship on Earth. She is rescued from being sucked into a black hole by Tenchi. As always, she is a ditz.
In the TV series, she is basically just hunting down Ryoko and eventually ends up in a crash and is stranded on Earth with Tenchi, Ryoko, and Ayeka. Still a ditz.
Ryo-Ohki
Age: 0
Height: 1'2"
Ryo-Ohki is a cabbit. That is, half-cat (her meow), half-rabbit(her love of carrots). She has the power to change herself from Cabbit form into Ryoko's ship. She mostly hangs around Sasami and is obsessed with carrots. Ryo-Ohki was created by Washu. Ryo-Ohki's power comes from Ryoko's gems.
In the OAV series, Ryo-ohki gains a human form, resembling a 3 or 4 year old girl.
Washu Hakubi
Age: 12
True Age: 20,000+
Height: 4'4"
Quote: "Just call me little WASHU!"
Washu is the self-proclaimed "greatest scientist in the universe." It seems that Washu has a motherly interest in Tenchi. She looks like a young red headed girl, but is most likely much older than Ryoko. She attended the Science Academy where she was the chairperson at one point or another.
In the OAV, she is one of the 3 most powerful "goddesses" in the universe and is trapped in Kagato's ship. Mihoshi, being Mihoshi, stumbles into the reflection of Kagato's ship where she accidentally frees Washu.
She was once married and had a child, but had her kid taken away from her because she was not royalty or something like that. She is the "mother" of Ryoko, and she created both the Soja and Ryo-ohki.
In the TV series, Washu was a mad scientist that was exiled and locked in a capsule. When she crashed into Earth, the earthlings put her in a cave so that she would never be freed.
