Sakura Kinomoto, the heroine of the story, is a cute little grade school girl. She was the one who broke the seal on the Clow Book, and released the Clow Cards. Because of this, she is the one who has to seal them all away again and was appointed the Card Captor by Keroberos. As the Card Captor, Sakura can capture and use the Clow Cards. However, she can only use them after she has signed them with her name.
Her best friend is Tomoyo Daidouji/Madison Taylor although she finds her obsessions a little odd. She has a crush on her brother's friend Yukito/Julian, and she really likes Li Shaolan and tries to be nice to him, even after he calls her a moron. However she used to be Shaolan’s rival but things have got better.
Sakura lives with her dad, who found the Clow book(or it found him), and her brother Touya/Tori who is always teasing her and calling her a dinosaur, monster and the squirt. Her mother died when Sakura was 3.
She is very athletic and energetic, which are good qualities for a Card Captor. She is also kind-hearted and forgiving, which endears her to many. She is the best long distance runner and cheerleader at her school, Tomoeda/Readington Elementary. She also roller-blades to school every day.
Sakura is very friendly, and is nice to almost every one, except her brother, but we knows she cares about him (for example, in the Mirror card episode, she freaks out when she realizes that Mirror is after her brother and she can't sense him any more in the park). Although she often fights with her brother and he is always stealing food off of her they are really quite close especially since their mother died. He looks out for her even though she doesn’t realise it.
She has magical powers, which she probably inherited from her father see Fujitaka/Aden's page, which is why she was able to open the Clow book and learns to use her magic (i.e sensing the Clow card) throughout the series. Madison tries to make Sakura wear a different costume for each capture, and tries to video tape her, even though Sakura is not totally comfortable with this.
