Cloud is the main character of FF7. He is troubled and confused. At the beginning of the game, he is hired by the terrorist group Avalanche, but gradually he gets caught up in saving the planet.
Cloud's Past:
When Cloud was young he didn't really have any friends and used to fight alot. Although he lived next to Tifa for most of his life, he never really spoke to her. He decided to join Soldier, as he thought that if he became strong and famous like Sephiroth, then Tifa would notice him.
However, when he got to Midgar, he was told that he didn't have what it took to become one of the Elite soldiers, so he became one of the Shinra soldiers.
While he worked for Shinra, he became good friends with a guy named Zack. 5 years ago from present day, Zack, Cloud, Sephiroth(the true one) and another Shinra soldier, went to Nibelheim to sort out a monster problem. while they were there, Cloud visited his mom, but since he was so ashamed of not making it into Soldier, he never went to see Tifa.
Tifa was their guide on their mission to the Nibelheim reactor. When they got to the reactor, Zack and Sephiroth went in, but Cloud had to stay outside with Tifa, but he saw everything that went on. While they were in the reactor, one of the pods that the Mako energy was flowing through burst and a monster got out. Sephiroth killed it, but he discover that the monster had once been a person and that they were turning into monsters because they were being exposed to high levels of Mako energy. Sephiroth realized that the machine which sent the Mako through to the pods was called Jenova, which was the same name as his mothers.
Sephiroth went back to Nibelheim and spent his time in the shinra Mansion reading and Cloud had to stand watch.
After weeks of reading, Sephiroth emerged and went up to the Reactor. By the time Zack and Cloud got there, Sephiroth had killed Tifa's father and Tifa was there.
Zack went to stop Sephiroth, but Sephiroth had found out that he had been made like the monsters and was really mad. He stabbed tifa and Zack. Cloud ran in and rescued Tifa and then went after Sephiroth. Sephiroth tried to take Jenova but Cloud attacked him outside the Reactor. Sephiroth stabbed Cloud, but Cloud pushed him into the lifestream below.
Shinra came and took Zack and Cloud back to the Shinra Mansion where Proffesor Hojo injected with Jenova cells and Mako. Cloud reacted to these, but Zack didn't and managed to escape with Cloud.
They hitched a ride back to Midgar and decided to become mercenaries. However, when they were almost there, a Shinra troop arrived and shot at them. Zack was killed but they left Cloud and Hojo dismissed him as a failed experiment.
He managed to get into Midgar and ended up at the train station in Sector 7. Tifa found him there and took him back to the bar that she now owned. As he was still ashamed to admit that he'd never been on Soldier, he copied all the things that Zack had done. Cloud decided to work for Avalanche, which was Tifa's friend Barret's terrorist group.
Cloud's life in Midgar:
On their first mission, Cloud has a flash back of his past. He then meets a flower seller called Aeris. On their next mission, Cloud almost dies but is saved by Aeris' flower beds. Cloud then protects her from the Turks who have come to take her to Shinra HQ.
Cloud then has to to go and find Tifa and Barret. In the Honey Bee Inn, Cloud has a vision, also part of the story is revealed. After he finds Tifa at Don Corneo's mansion, they then find out that the sector 7 slums are going to be destroyed. They meet Barret in Sector 7 where they battle with Shinra. They make a narrow escape, but Sector 7 is destroyed.
However, Aeris has been kidnapped by the Shinra and Cloud must go after them. They find Aeris locked up in the Shinra HQ, where Proffesor Hojo is experimenting on her. Cloud and the gang are locked up, but manage to escape after Jenova escapes from Hojo's laboratory and wreaks havoc in the building.
Cloud and the gang find that the Shinra President has been killed by Sephiroth and Rufus (the president's son) is now in charge. They leave Midgar and decide to go after Sephiroth.
Cloud's Battle to Save the World:
In Kalm Cloud tells the others the past about Sephiroth, but changes the story so that he is Zack. In Gongaga you can meet Zack's parents. Tifa will run off as she knows who zack was, and Aeris will hide as he was Zack's girlfriend. In the Gold Saucer, Aeris takes you on a date and reveals to Cloud that she likes him but he is alot like her last boyfriend. You also meet Cait Sith here. He reads your fortune and tells you of troubled times ahead (Aeris' death).
After journeying across the world, it becomes apparent that Sephiroth is heading for the Temple of the Ancients to get the Black Materia. Here Cait Sith tells your fortune again, revealing that Cloud and Aeris are a perfect match. After Cloud receives the Black materia, he goes into a fit again and has a visionm of himself as a child. Whilst Sephiroth controls him (through the Jenova cells in Cloud), he takes the Black materia and Heads North.
Cloud understands the danger he is putting his friends in, but Aeris comes to him in a dream and tells him she has gone to the Forgotten City and that she will be back. Cloud goes after Aeris to try and protect her, but when he gets there, he goes into another fit and trys to kill her. Sephiroth however does kill her. Jenova then tells Cloud that he is a puppet and Sephiroth tells him to stop acting as Cloud has no feelings.
The Truth Behind Cloud:
Cloud goes after Sephiroth to take revenge on him for Aeris' death. He battles Sephiroth at the Northern Crater and manages to get the Black Materia. However, Sephiroth shows Cloud images of his past with Zack in. He tells Cloud he is not real but was created to look like the real Cloud, with Tifa's memories. Cloud breaks down and gives the Black Materia to the True Sephiroth who is incased in materia. The Northern Crater cracks and Sephiroth covers it in a shield.
Cloud falls into the Lifestream but is preserved as the Jenova Cells in him wont let him die. He is eventually found in Mideel where he and Tifa fall into the Lifestream. They go into Cloud's memories, where they discover the truth (See top). Cloud realises he is real and that Sephiroth was fooling him.
They are rescued by the others and tell them the truth.
In the Shinra Mansion Cloud has a flash back of him and Zack after the Reactor incident.
The Final Battle:
After the battle with Sephiroth in the Northern Crater, Cloud goes to fight the true Sephiroth. Cloud wins and just manages to escape. He says that he'll be able to meet Aeris in the Promised Land and that's where she'll be waiting for him.
Summary:
Ok, so maybe Cloud did lose it a bit, but really he's a cool character.
Although he loves Tifa, his true Soulmate is Aeris. Although Cait Sith's predictions are usually wrong, the one where he tells them they are a perfect match is totally correct. Aeris promises that she will come back and Cloud says he'll find her again. Cloud and Tifa probably would get married, as they say that they've only got each other and they obviously care deeply for each other.
