Tada! Here it is! The fic I was talkin about ^_^ Thanks to everyone who suggested couples, you've all been a major help! There was a tie between Rowen/Cye and Rowen/Sage pairings, so it was up to me for the tie-breaker. Sorry to those who didn't get their pairs picked, but maybe next time ^_~
Disclaimer mumbo jumbo: I don't own the Ronin Warriors, they belong to Sunrise, etc. I'm not making any money off this, it's for your emjoyment only
Rowen was sitting on his bed, an open book in his lap. Although his eyes were on the pages, he didn't see the words. His mind was too busy thinking about a certain someone to focus on the weight settled on his folded legs. He closed his eyes, and in his mind, he could see the object of his thoughts and affection. The golden hair, the violet eyes, the strong body. The archer sighed, opening his eyes again. It was true, he was in love with his best friend and brother-in-arms, Sage. How? How could he allow himself to fall for such a quiet and composed boy? Rowen's life was full of questions, but in the past he'd been able to figure them out one way or another. However, this time, the answer wouldn't come so easily. He didn't know why exactly he'd fallen for Sage, beside the fact he was drop-dead gorgeous. In fact, he didn't know why he thought he even had a chance. After all, Sage was constantly surrounded by girls. Why would he want another boy?
Rowen groaned in self-disgust, tossing the book off his lap and lying back. He stared at the ceiling with his arms folded behind his head. If he didn't tell Sage soon, he was going to lose it. It was bad enough he couldn't even think too much about it, without worrying if the others would sense something. But how to tell him?
More times then he could count, the archer found himself wondering what life would be like now, if perhaps he'd told Sage how he felt the first time he knew for himself. Would the blond warrior be with him now? In the same bed, embraced in each other's arms? He shook his head, there were so many uncertainties for the possible answer of those questions. Was it possible, however, that Sage DID share his feelings? As he thought about the possibilities, Rowen realized that it was plausible. After all, everyone knew Sage was a serious person. Rowen on the other hand, could get him to smile, and even laugh on occasion. The smiles weren't Sage's trademark smirks, which Rowen admitted were very cute, they were full, actual smiles. Even Kento had commented on that once, and the fact that Hardrock had actually noticed was really saying something.
Rowen pressed the heels of his hands into his eyes, the only thing to do, was to just tell Sage how he felt. But what to say? 'Sage, for the longest time, I've found myself pining over you. How do you feel?' Rowen groaned, that sounded like something from a poorly made soap opera. The archer's mind drifted to Cye and Kento, the two warriors had been together for months, and couldn't be happier. Rowen wondered if they had as much trouble sorting out what to say as he was having now. Asking them was out of the question though, this was his own battle to fight. They wouldn't be able to help. Rowen lifted his hands from his eyes and sat up, he would just have to come right out and tell Sage how he felt. There was no way around it. Finally reaching his resolve, the archer stood up and made his way out of his room.
As he walked down the hall, his steps slowed down and he began to feel nervous. His thoughts had previously been on the idea that Sage did in fact, share his feelings. But what if he didn't? What if he looked at Rowen with disgust? Or sympathy for being a love-struck dope? Rowen stopped outside Sage's bedroom door, beginning to think this was a bad idea. He turned around to walk away, not hearing the door opening.
"Rowen?"
He froze in midstep, turning slowly back around. Sage stood in his doorway, looking at him in confused concern.
"Yes?" Rowen was relieved his voice had come out steadily, even though his body had turned warm and was shaking slightly.
"Are you alright?" The blond inquired, noticing the almost scared look on Rowen's face.
Rowen cleared his throat a little, "Yeah, I'm fine. I was just... um..." His mind was screaming for him to turn tail and get out of there, but his body refused to move.
Sage stared at him, as if trying to see what Rowen was hiding. He walked the couple steps between them, so he was standing right in front of the archer. Raising his hands, Sage placed them on Rowen's face, running his thumbs over the soft skin before combing his fingers though the blue hair which almost felt as though it were made of silk.
Rowen's mind was ranting in delight, 'He's touching me! Gods, is this a dream? If it is, I never want to wake up!'
He was somewhat brought back to reality when Sage's mouth claimed his own in a soft kiss, the violet eyes closed. Rowen's own eyes slipped closed as he kissed back. The need for air finally made them break apart.
"Sage... why?" Rowen questioned softly, his heart beating against his ripcage.
The swordsman smiled, "Because I love you, Touma."
Rowen was overcome with shock and joy at the same time. Shock because Sage did return his feelings, and he called him by his rarely used Japanese name. And joy for the same two reasons. Sage did love him, and the fact he called him by his Japanese name ment he really ment it. A smile brightened his handsome face, he kissed his love again.
"I love you too, Seiji."
