RUN FREE TEE SHIRT FUNDRAISER 2012

TEE SHIRT FUNDRAISER TO BENEFIT BERNER CANCER RESEARCH

Update March 3rd 2014

In 2010, a Chicago Berner owner and active BARC foster/transport volunteer, Julie Greco, was devastated by the news that her first failed foster, Chloe had MH. Chloe was just six years old, the same age that Julie’s first Berner, Monty, died of the same disease. Julie had been training to run the Chicago Marathon for about a year. She had been dedicating her training races (usually ½ marathons) to dogs of friends that have passed by wearing a button. As she waited on pins and needles for Chloe’s diagnosis, she pleaded in one post – “please, no more buttons.” Sadly, that plea didn’t reach the right ears. During the hardest part of Julie’s training, Chloe lost her battle. On an unusually hot October day in Chicago, Julie completed her first marathon and I have no doubt that Chloe was right there with her every step of those 26.1 miles.

Two years later, while the average age our Berners creeps out a bit longer, cancer continues to take its toll on our beloved dogs. I have sent many condolences already in 2012, and the year is barely half done. Within the span of hours on May 25th, two special dogs were touched by cancer, Sage was diagnosed with bone cancer and Charm lost his battle and ran to the Rainbow Bridge.

As their owners dealt with their grief, there was a renewed interest in creating a second Run Free fundraiser to further cancer research.

To test the waters, I created a Facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Run-Free-2-Canine-Cancer-Fundraiser-2012/161887447159209
to see how many people would be interested.

Much to Jaime and my surprise, within hours people all over the world responded in support of a second fundraiser.

We are happy to announce the 2012 Run Free Fundraiser, complete with new artwork and … a surprise

Run Free tee shirts to benefit Berner Cancer Research

As in 2010, short sleeve shirts cost $20.00; long sleeve shirts are available for $25.00. Sizes run from adult small to 5X. Shipping for one or two shirts to the same address is an additional $9.00 to US addresses and $7.50 to Canada. (US postal rates have really gone up since 2010!)

We are offering combo packages of one each of both designs in short and long sleeve options. The Run Free shirt is again printed on a white shirt. The puppy shirt will be printed on an ash grey shirt.

Let's get together again to make a difference so our Berners can Run Free and Live Long. I will collect orders until August 31st. I will be submitting the orders in batches, and shipping shirts out as they come in. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
