Zanzebern Shining Knight (aka Harry Brat) was my first Bernese. He was my heart dog who died of a brain tumour at Easter 2008 aged 5 years and 9 months. He was a beautiful dog who just loved to please. He was a joy to live with and he loved being with me. He was my shadow. He was never shown or competitively trialled but he just did Harry Things that enthralled and made me laugh and very proud to have him live at my place. The dominant dog for most of his life, he taught Gideon and Spike what not to do. To this day his legacy lives on in my backyard. He gave so much joy to many who knew him. I could not let his passing be acknowledged only by his ashes in a box in my display cabinet at home. This modest award is for a dog that otherwise would never be recognised i.e. a Shining Knight in a tri-coloured suit; doing something both important and significant for his family and the magnificent Bernese Mountain Dog breed. The nominations are open to all members and any dog can be nominated for anything special they have done, whether it be obedience, showing, rescuing someone or maybe a therapy dog who visits hospitals or donating blood etc. ....
