In Loving Memory of
Kodi November 7th 1998 to May 8th 2008 John's beloved Berner "I just wanted to let you know that last night we had to finally let Kodi go. He had stopped eating about 5 or 6 days ago and was unable to greet us at the door anymore. We think he was just hanging on because he didn't want to leave us but his body was working against him. His cancer had also spread into his skin and appeared to be growing very rapidly every day." 
Kodi and John, Bear Mountain in New York Earlier days - " I have had him since he was 7 weeks old and he hasn't left my side since. Kodi has always been an old soul who has always tried to put himself at the top of the pack. Somehow he figured out that the order was me, him and then everyone else. Kodi was my first Berner and now I have had three. The other two are almost spitting images of each other. Both are pure love and sweetness but definitely lacking in the common sense department. Kodi on the other hand has been more human like. He has a very uncanny ability to communicate which definitely helps when you are dealing with a very picky dog. He is definitely my baby. " Kodi was dx histiocytic sarcoma in his liver and a neoplasia in his gall bladder October 10th 2007 "The CCNU chemo protocol he is on is working at reducing the size of his two tumors but has not gotten rid of them. Our biggest problem right now is getting him to eat. He has lost about 20 - 25 lbs during this ordeal. He is a picky eater which is the main problem. It is always a guessing game as to what he will eat. We are giving him an appetite stimulant which is helping but he will still turn his nose up to almost everything in the morning. We are mostly on a whole red meat diet right now. I wish I had the luxury of only feeding him a high protein diet but I have to go with whatever he will eat.
