Bernese Mountain Dogs
In Loving Memory of Bernese Mountain Dog Ransom 6/17/92 - 10/23/99 So sadly missed by Jeb and Lisa 
"This photo was taken after his cancer diagnosis and only a few weeks before his death. He was born on 6/17/92 and died on 10/23/99 of malignant histiocytosis. He was an exuberant and bouncy boy; snow was his favorite thing. He loved his human family and his kitties but, most of all, he loved his golden retriever companion, Brutus. I think the cancer had probably been with him for quite a long time as he had dropped ten pounds at his annual checkup in February 1999. At the time this seemed like a positive change as he had been a little "chunky". There was no indication that there was anything wrong with him until June 1999 - just weeks after Brutus' death at age 15 - when he suddenly ceased eating. Perhaps the loss of his close companion depressed him and he lost the will to fight this disease that was already raging inside him. He fought bravely until October when his pain and depression finally forced us to end his suffering. He was a much loved companion and is greatly missed."
