Celebrating our Berner Veterans
In Loving Memory of Bailey Bailey Willis Von Dantzler July 9th 1998 to April 6th 2009 Owned, loved and now so sadly missed by Mary Shaver 
My wonderful, sweet Bailey is celebrating her 10th birthday today - such a milestone in our berner community. Bailey came to me at three years old as a rescue/rehome. Within a couple of weeks, she settled in her new home as if she had lived here her whole life. She was the big sister to my Laurel, defender of her property and bedeviler to any wayward squirrel or bunny who dared cross her path. At 10 years old, she has become an odd combination of puppy and grumpy old woman - still chasing the wildlife and bouncing around like a teenager, but definitely set in her ways and very upset with any change in her routine. In short, she has been a joy and a blessing in my life. Anyone out there who is hesitating over adopting an "older" berner - I can't say my experience is typical, but don't let the notion that you may have less time be a deterant. We never know how much time we will have with our beloved dogs. I've learned to cherish every moment. And now off to fix Bailey's favourite treat - spaghetti and meatballs!
