Celebrating our Berner Veterans In Loving Memory of Bandit Brighteye Blazin' Bandit August 1, 1996- August 25, 2007 Loved and so sadly missed by Binay Curtis and Family Bandit exceeded my expectations of the Bernese Mt. Dog I dreamed of. She was loving and kind, gentle and fun, lazy and hard-working, goofy, yet smart. My husband seriously believes that Bandit had a higher IQ than most dogs (sorry, guys!). There was a human-like quality to her that we saw until the end. She traveled with me through life events - single-life, to moving across the country - to married life and motherhood. Yet, over the past few weeks, I have also realized the bond was not about the events that she attended with us as a family, rather what was in between the events -- the loving look with big bright eyes, the stability, the soft ears rubs, the walks around various neighborhoods, the belly rubs, the stretches, the eyebrow raised to say good morning and that adorable big sigh at the end of the day. Over the years, she dabbled in many "berner jobs" -- carting, sled pulling and therapy dog work. But, really, she was a family dog and devoted to me, and the rest of the family. That's why I believe, in the end, she fought HARD and made it much longer than we ever expected. But her body won over her mind and her body no longer functioned as it should. It makes me feel better to think she is with many of her favorite furry lifetime buddies, Archie, Charlie, Sammy, Riley and others...Maybe she will have new legs now and will be able to keep up with them too! Bandit will never be forgotten in our hearts and in our minds; her spirit will remain with us forever. *Veteran Berners Home Page* *Samson's Story *My Gang *Sunny,Simmy,Barney,Pixie *Friend's Gallery *In Loving Memory *Histio Roll Call *Bernese Art *Berner Fun Stuff *Berner Articles & Info *Berner Shop *Longlease Links. *Humour. *Guestbook. *Berner Fundraisers *Recent Updates * *Longlease Bernese Mountain Dogs Home Page* |
