Celebrating our Berner Veterans
In Loving Memory of Leia Ch. Skylyn's Hopi August 20th 2001 to July 9th 2015 So much loved and so sadly missed by Tom, Coral, April and Tyler VanBuren 
This photo was taken of her on her 11th birthday. She looks awesome, if I do say so myself. A little slower moving and more of a "diva". 
I'm so happy to say that our "Princess Leia" turned the ripe old age of 12 yesterday! Her "old lady" check up showed she is in remarkably good shape for her age. Blood work, chest and abdominal xrays all looked great! Woo hoo! Wish I could have her another 12 years.

Look who turns 13 years old today! We are so blessed to share our lives with Leia. Love the diva! 
Ch. Skylyn's Hopi CGC our Princess Leia crossed to the bridge yesterday. Three weeks ago blood work was unremarkable and x-rays revealed no abnormalities. On Tues. we noticed her hocks were swollen and we took her in. Her bloodwork revealed that her liver was no longer making protein. We took her home and tried some new meds. Yesterday she was back in for repeat bloodwork and an ultrasound. The ultrasound revealed multiple masses in both liver and spleen. We said good bye to our beautiful, wonderful "old lady". She had a partial torn ACL that had occurred about 3 months ago and had arthritis in her hips and spine. Eyes were still pretty good but her hearing was a hit and miss. Otherwise she was a grand old dame. She still took herself for walks around the yard even just last week, would go to the outside faucet for you to turn it on because it was the "best" water. She still wanted to hang with the grandkids if they were playing in the yard. We had a "help-em-up harness on her so we could help her maneuver up and down stairs. She would just try to go down the steps from the deck to get to the kids. I am glad she enjoyed life right up until maybe two days ago. Grateful that there was no long treatments or suffering. She is so deeply missed.
