Quote:
In the KO Century, beasts and humans co-exist on what is left of the Earth which was split into hemispheres and the South was ejected into space. Those in the north half evolved into Beasts and those in the south stayed human. When the humans finally returned, they had to live in Uranos, an artificial domed city, because they were unable to adapt to the conditions of he Earth. The various Beast Clans each have a Jinn. Originally, Jinns were weapons built by humans long ago, but eventually they were adopted by the Clans and revered. The royal bloodlines of the various Clans can control their paticular Jinn. The human Czar Master and his underlings, V-Darn and V-Sion, wish to be rid of the Beasts by finding and using Gaia, an ancient and supposedly all-powerful super computer. A few rebellious Beasts from different Clans led by Wan Dabada, are continually able to thwart Czar Master's plans. Using lick more than anything else, these three Beasts just happen to be royal Clansmen of the three Lord Jinns (Earth, Sky, and Sea Lords) and are able to ride their Jinns into battle. The key to finding Gaia lies in little Uni Password whom the Beasts travel with and hopefully Wan's hunger does not get the better of him. - Alan Lee

Sounds like a very serious anime? Well, actually it's not. With V-Darn using Japanese children tongue twisters to cast spells, Bud Mint trying to woo every girl on the planet with his bad english, Wan trying to eat everything that moves, and you see why this has become one of my favorite silly OAVs. The art is very like Takehiko Itoh's style, such as seen in Outlaw Star and Thousand Arms (In fact he worked on this). However, the fansub is not in very good condition, making the animation look bad at some parts. Hopefully that will be fixed once the DVD comes out. The Japanese voice actors in this are great! With Takehito Koyasu (Weiss band member) playing Bud Mint, Kappei Yamaguchi as Wan, Mika Kanai as Mei Mah, Yasunori Matsumoto as V-Darn, Yuko Mizutani as V-Sion, and even Ai Orikasa plays a part in the second part of KO Century Beast. The Music is okey in the first part, but it improves alot by the second part of KO Century Beast. Koi wa Bomber has become one of my all-time favorite anime theme songs now. The bad thing is that the music CDs are so hard to find for sale!! There are certain things I can't tell you that happen in KOCB, such as who is C Seagull, what is Gaia and all of that. So your going to find out for yourself. Some of my favorite funny scenes are: When Mei Mah gets sick, Bud loses at a game, The big fight, When Wan meets Bud for the first time, the traps, V-Darn in all of his moments, and many others. All in all: BUY IT!! I will make sure I get I copy from Right Stuf as soon as possible.
