Five Star Stories: A Brief History

Five Star Stories has been around in Japan for 15 years, ever since 1986, when Mamoru Nagano started the first issue in Newtype Magazine. It has sparked 9 compilation volumes in Japan, and one Feature Length Anime Movie, considered to be one of the worst adaptations of an manga classic. The director of the anime later admitted to the public that he did not understand the plot of the manga when he produced the movie.

Stories from the Five Stars

The DVD chronicles the first of the nine compilation volumes of the magna, in which the God of Light Ameratasu poses as the mechanic Ladios Sopp to rescue the Fatima Lachesis from and evil Duke. A fatima is an artificial life form originally created by mankind as a plaything, often taking the shape of well-developed young women. The Fatimas are actually a mixture of two species: a bizarre alien race found in the Five Star Galaxy, and the Headliners, extremely strong humans with the power to pilot mecha called "Mortar Headds". Fatimas have recently been programmed to act as co-pilots for the Headliners, who are isolated from society because of their potential to cause great harm to the public. Fatimas have also been isolated, made to wear cloaks in public, forced to continuously wear dark-colored contact lenses, and not allowed to reveal any parts of their youthful bodies. They have been programmed to seek out a headliner as a master, and to serve him until he dies. Then, the Fatimas are programmed to seek out a new master. The fate that Fatimas face without a master may lead to rape, slavery, or worse, as they are regarded as posessions by the general public.

The Fatima Fortune

However, legendary Fatima designer Chrome Ballanche had designed 3 Fatimas without this mind control: Atropos, Lachesis, and Clotho (a forth, male Fatima, Uplanda, is not revealed until much later in the series, but he is really a clone of the God of Light). These Fatimas have been specially made at the request of the LED Dragon, the most intellegent and powerful mortal being in the Five Star Galaxy. They will play an important role in the entire manga series. Two of them have been captured by the evil perverted Duke Juba, who plans to make them into his sex slaves, and Ladios Sopp, with an group of knights from other countries (most of them also royalty in disguise) must free them. And so begins the Five Star Stories.

The Fatima Fortune

The Five Star Stories chronology in every American volume of the series shows that the history of Ameratasu and his wife Lachesis is a troubled one. Check this out:

1) King Colus III dies.

2) Clotho, his Fatima, goes into suspended animation.

3) Ameratasu loses his powers temporarily, and is saved by Atropos, who is posing as a Headliner.

4) Lachesis is thrown through a time warp with the Mortar Headd Knight of Gold, and Ameratasu grieves.

5) Ameratasu abdicates his throne to his Fatima clone, Uplanda.

6) Colus VI finds Clotho and awakes her.

7) Colus VI kills Uplanda.

8) Humanity departs the known galaxy into another dimension.

9) Ameratasu and Lachesis journey through time for billions of years to find each other. Once, Lachesis ends up in Nazi Germany, and fights in World War II.

10) Ameratasu and Lachesis find each other, and depart the galaxy just as it is about to explode.

And that is just the outline. The author plans to tell about each and every one of these chapters in his manga.
