Synopsis
The story of Escaflowne focuses on Hitomi, an emotional school girl who has a keen ability in fortune telling. One faitful day on the running track at school, she runs into (literally) a strange boy named Van that falls from the sky. A dragon follows Van close by while Hitomi and her friends flee from the scene. After an intense battle, Van is almost killed by the dragon, but not before Hitomi has a vision and warns Van of he sharp tail coming down from above. Van quickly slains the dragon and it is then that he and Hitomi are wrapped in a pillar of light and taken away to a new world, Gaea, where Hitomi's life will change forever.
