Ryoko is a female demon who has been locked in the Masaki Shrine ever since
the ledgendary hero Yosho fought her and sealed her in the shrine 700 years ago.
Her source of power is the three gems on the sword Tenchi possesses. She can
fly, phase (teleport) through objects, create energy swords and beams (click here to see examples)
and summon demons and control them. She is 2,000 Jurain years old (over 5,000 Earth years)
and is a definite wild card in the Masaki home. Ryoko is the product of a fusing of Washu's
ova and the Masu (Mass). Her faithful ship, Ryo-ohki is conected to her through a psyhcic link.
In Tenchi Universe, Ryoko is a female space pirate. Ryo-ohki is her faithful "heinous
criminal battleship", and she is a most wanted criminal. She falls to Earth and is
rescued by Tenchi, and for this she decides that they were meant for each other eternally.
Needless to say, Tenchi isn't convinced. The enmity between her and Ayeka started
in a flower garden, when they were both children. We shall never know who insulted who,
since Ryoko and Ayeka are always saying that they themselves were the victim, and the other
the evil child. Ryoko's Arch-rival is the bounty hunter Nagi, who's spaceship, Ken-ohki,
is a cabbit just like Ryo-ohki. It is a cause of much consternation by Ryoko and Nagi
that Ryo-ohki and Ken-ohki love each other so much, they will not attack the other.
Many feel that Ryoko's personality is flattened out and made more one dimensional compared
to the OAV Ryoko, but others disagree.
