Story Line
This synopsis of the story line
is short and to the point. I have also just recently seen Evangelion
Death and Rebirth, so I will add that information in when I am
able to.
It is 2015 and the world
has changed greatly. The human race was nearly wiped out when
a giant meteor hit earth. However, it was not a meteor at all.
It was the First Angel named Adam. When a UN team went to investigate
the strange meteor, the First Angel mysteriously exploded and
destroyed Antarctica, nearly wiping out the human race. That incident
became known as First Impact.
After that incident,
the people rebuilt their lives in secret under ground cities.
The city of focus in Evangelion is Tokyo 3. Fifteen years after
First Impact, however, there came a Second Impact, caused by the
Second Angel, where more lives were lost. After Second Impact,
more Angels appeared afterward and terrorized the city and the
remaining survivors. The Second Angel was called Lilith, and was
captured and contained by NERV. NERV is a secret organization
that was created for the sole purpose of destroying the Angels.
After the Second Angel’s capture, NERV began to create the
Evangelions, giant humanoid robots created in the Angels' image
that fight against the Angels. An Eva can generate its own AT
field, a powerful energy shield that Angles also have the ability
to make, and carry weapons which can neutralize the AT field of
the Angels. The Evas need to be "plugged" in (they have
external power units which they can't operate without), and can
only operate for a very short amount of time when they do not
have their power source. Without the power source an Eva can only
operate for five minuets, and the life support system shuts down
after sixteen hours.
They believed that if
they created the Evas in the Angels' image, then they could fight
back. They also believed that they had captured Adam, the original
Angel, but it was actually Lilith.
Now with the arrival
of the new Angels, NERV must act quickly to prevent a Third Impact
from occurring. They must rely on fourteen year old Shinji Ikari,
Rei Ayanami, Asuka Langley Sohryu, and other future pilots to
control the gigantic Evangelions and destroy all seventeen Angels
before a Third Impact occurs and destroys what's left the human
race.
The fate of the world
and all human beings rests in the hands of these brave, young
soldiers.
Death and Rebirth
Death, essentially, is nothing more than a review of everything that happened in the series. Rebirth, on the other hand, is in actuallity the beginning of End of Evangelion.
It begins with a disturbing sceen of Shinji begging Asuka to help him, while she's still in a coma in the NERV medical room. I don't want to go into detail of what happens, but lets just say Shinji and his hand were a bit busy.... Misato is busy getting more information about the Evas, Secind Impact, and everything else she can hack out of the NERV computers. There's an alarm, and that's when Seele makes its first move. Seele attacks NERV, by using the MAGI computers of China, the USA, Germany, and Britain to try to hack into NERV's MAGI computers. With the help of Dr. Akagi, a 666 firewall was put up and stopped Seele's invasion into the MAGI. Seele will not give up, however. They want Third Impact to occur. It was their goal from the start. They send in the UN forces to take over NERV H.Q. by force. The soldiers are ordered to kill the pilots on contact.
