Youkoso,
mina-san, to my teensy J-Rock page! While I would love nothing more
than to run a huge complex of well-laid-out sites dedicated to the spiffiest
of musicians
and the loveliest of bishounen, I just don't have
the time, the webspace, or the knowledge to do so. So you're stuck
with this ugly little page. Gomen.
What
I HAVE got up ain't half-bad, though. There's 1-3 rotating mp3s that'll
be updated every couple of weeks or whenever I remember, pictures of our
dear rockers,
a few romanized lyrics, and what little information
I've managed to scrape up. Er - I'm pretty specialized, though, don't
expect much beyond hide-sama, Dir en grey, and
Gackt/Malice Mizer. ^-^;;; Sorry.
Maybe when I learn more about various other bands, this page'll be better...
You'll
also notice that everything is on this one page - that's because there
isn't enough in each section to make separate pages worthwhile (at least
not to my lazy mind).
Don't worry, though, I'm going to figure out target
links if it kills me. Dewa - hajimashou!
A
note - these files aren't zipped or anything, just click on the link, hold
down for the little list, and pick "Save Link As" or "Download Link to
Disk," whatever your menu
says.
egniryS cimredopyH
An old DEG favorite of mine from their album Macabre; my tastes in
their music have changed somewhat, but this is still one of their better
songs, technically speaking.
Macabre Other than the live version of Aoi Tsuki, quite possibly
the longest DEG song I have ever heard. Interesting melody,
though, and the lyrics - read like a collaboration between Buffalo Bill
and Hannibal Lecter. n_n;;;;;;
Mad Sky A
different spiffy song from Pierrot - I still need to buy me one of their
CDs...
Vanilla A
super-cool, very energetic song from Gackt-sama the Shibby.
Good-Bye Another
hide song, this one slower and sadder. In fact, it always sounds
kind of like the Beatles to me, dunno why.
Mp3 List A list of my J-Rock mp3s for you to browse through and request.
If
your download is ever interrupted by my updating, please, email me and
we'll work it out somehow. Okay?
I
am sad to say that all of these images are stolen from other sites; I did
not scan a single one of them myself. What's REALLY terrible is that
I haven't emailed the owners
of the aforementioned sites for permission to use these images.
What I am going to do is credit the sites in the description of the picture,
and give a link if the site is still up and I
can find the link. Please don't hurt me... This is really
a pretty small collection, I have a LOT more sitting around on my hard
drive - I just don't have the space to post them
all (I do kind of need to keep space available for OC stuff, no da).
I just tried to pick my favorite pictures whose origins I remembered.
These pics are in no particular order, except I tried to keep images from the same band together. Let's start with our dear departed hide-sama... *glomps her hide plushie*
Hide-sama A little pic of hide-sama. It's not that great, but I really like it for some reason. I forget where I got it.
Blurry
hide-sama Blurry it may be, but it's also good. Stolen
from an acquaintance's site - I'm gonna email her and ask for her permission,
honest... Crucifix
is the name of
her site - much better title than "Hokuto's Little Page o' J-Rock,"
ne? ^-^;;;
Hide the Ghost Okay, THIS picture is my own - and - well - it's not actually hide-sama... it's my hide-sama plushie dressed in a ghost costume for Halloween...
...
I'm just weird, okay? Deal.
And now, some Dir en grey. Okay, quite a bit of Dir en grey. It's not MY fault they're all so spiffy and photogenic!
Casual Kyo A little but nice pic of Kyo-san (DEG's vocalist) relaxing. Well... looking somewhat more relaxed than usual, anyway. Again stolen from Crucifix .
Toshiya
in Dark Blue Totchi, DEG's bassist, in a very nice dark
blue kimono. I think his hair looks cute, I hope he styles it like
that again... I can't remember where I found
this pic, but it was probably at the now-defunct site Inner Sanctum.
Dir
en grey Group Pic A nice little group pic - not the best
one I have, but I was trying to find smaller pics to post and this one
fit the bill. It's halfway recent, anyway, Kyo-san's got those godawful
contacts in. ;.; He's got such beautiful eyes, why does he
want to wear those terrible things?! I can't remember exactly where
I got this pic, but
I'm pretty sure it was at a site called Karada. Check around
the J-Rock webring, I know it's listed there somewhere.
Die-san with Claw Marks A spiffy pic of Die-san, one of Dir en grey's two guitarists. Stolen from Project X , a cool site which sadly hasn't updated in a while.
Die in the Ghetto I really like this pic of Die-san, I'm not sure why. Again, from Project X .
Die-san,
Yo Die in one of his more - "interesting" - outfits.
Perhaps after seeing this pic, and after me revealing that one of the first
Die pictures I saw was of him in this outfit,
you'll understand why he made me nervous for so long. (Oh, and
my friend Ryouko-san's little fic didn't help, either... >.<
Kawaisou na Totchi...) Pic borrowed from
Crucifix
.
Super-Femme
Toshiya If I didn't know better, I'd say Totchi WAS a girl.
Darnit, I'M a girl, and I don't look like that in a slip... ;.;
No fair! This pic was stolen from
yurameki.com, which may or may not be up anymore (and even if it is,
this pic isn't up there, I've checked).
Kaoru-san
Close-Up *.* Pretty... *glomps Kaoru-san*
Kaoru's the lead guitarist for DEG, and I really like him! He's not
as femme-y-pretty as Shin-chan or Totchi, but he
has a good face, anyway. Another pic from Crucifix
.
Kaoru and Guitar The picture from which the title image is taken... I really, really like it. It has cultureSHOCK written in the corner, but I don't have that address anymore...
Kaoru in the Subway *glomps Kaoru-san again* Wai! He's just too cool! I found this pic at Inner Sanctum, but it says Japanese Channel in the corner...
Kyo-san Close-Up Wow. That's all there is to say. Wow. I told you he had gorgeous eyes. From yurameki.com.
Kyo-san's New Look ;.;!!! The piercings I can live with, but WHY MUST HE COVER UP HIS BEAUTIFUL EYES?! Another escapee from Crucifix .
Playboy
Totchi Heh - Totchi with bunny ears... *giggle*
I love that boy, but he's a slut. (And why I'm calling someone six
years older than me a "boy" I don't know...) I'm
pretty sure this pic is from Project
X , but I'm not completely certain.
Shinya
A piccie of Shinya, DEG's drummer. *.* Kirei yo... demo...
he needs to EAT! Lord, the next breeze might blow him away!
Another pic from Inner Sanctum/
Japanese Channel.
Toshiya Close-Up Oh, wow... *swoons* Did I mention that Toshiya is every bit as gorgeous as Shin-chan? Another pic from yurameki.com.
Tubes
and Feathers Kyo-san in a GREAT outfit. The feathers
are just stunning, and I LOVE what he's done with those little neon-colored
straws! (Me? Sarcastic? Heaven
forbid.) No, seriously, this is a good pic, stolen from Crucifix
of course.
Shinya Stripping Heh. Yum. Picture stolen from - uh - the address that's on the pic, I guess. I don't remember.
Bondage-y Die Is it possible to talk at all in that thing? Pic stolen from Japanese channel, I believe.
Kyo's New Look - Again *groan, sigh* From Project X, I think.
I'm Blue Spiffy, spiffy Toshiya pic (aren't they all?). Again from Project X, I believe.
For
a change of pace, let's have some Mana and Gackt-sama. (I can't honestly
call it a Malice Mizer section, since I really am only posting Mana pics
at the moment...
^-^;;; I can't help how gorgeous he is, blame him.)
Mana-san Mana sitting in a chair, looking like a woman. No wonder nobody believes me when I claim J-Rockers are male...
Ghostly Mana Beautiful pic of Mana in a black dress, apparently standing in a church.
Mana Crowned Mana-hime... hmmm... has a nice ring to it. BTW, all three of these pics were taken from Inner Sanctum.
Extra-Femme-y Mana Wow... I love Inner Sanctum for revealing these gorgeous mysteries to me.
Gackt-sama
in Black I have this picture printed out and taped to my
door, that's how much I like it. The cool part is that I have a shirt
a lot like the one Gackt-sama's wearing!
Sugoi, ne? (Now if only I had Gackt-sama's face to go with it
- heh - I could forget about boy troubles.) Another pic from Inner
Sanctum.
Gackt-sama and Beru Awwwwww... aren't they cuuuuuuuuuute? Borrowed from yurameki.com.
Gackt-sama in White *drools* Purty... Another steal from Inner Sanctum.
Dreamy Gackt-sama He looks so sweet... Think I found this at Project X, but don't remember.
Dreamy Gackt-sama 2 Kind of the same pic, but his eyes are more open, I think.
Here's a big surprise for everyone - pictures of J-Rockers who aren't Dir en grey/MM/Gackt!
Katsura Some guy who was in Baiser. I don't remember which instrument he played, but I know Ryouko-san thought it was kind of his fault for breaking up the band...
Shaisuke Yay! Pretty bassist person from Baiser! He's kind of dead, though. J-Rock has a prettty good death toll, all things considered.
And as a special bonus:
Kyo-san's Birthday Present ^-^ Otanjoubi omedetou gozaimasu! If you want a translation/explanation, just email me at hokutochan@hotmail.com.
Kaoru-san's Birthday Present Possibly in need of even more explanation than Kyo-san's present... email me, okay?
Shinya-san's
Birthday Present I couldn't think of anything to draw for Shin-chan, so here's something he REALLY needs: food! Good healthy food! n_n
Yay! Happy romanizations! All of these are done by yours truly, so please don't steal them - they're here so that you, too, can sing along with the songs you love!
Akuro no Oka One of my favorite Dir en grey songs... it'll prolly show up in the mp3 section soon.
Mask Another spiffy DEG song.
Yurameki DEG again - are we spotting a pattern? I'm going to try and get some other romanizations done soon, honest...
Yokan This is one song I'd like a little help with - does anyone know what that one kanji is? I've romanized it as moteasonde, but I'm not sure that's right...
Tsumi to Batsu Note: This romanization will not really help you be able to sing along with Kyo. That's just impossible. But if you speak any Japanese, it might help you figure out what a sick little freak he is.
Schwein no Isu
See note for Tsumi to Batsu above.
Because I know you can't live without knowing your favorite J-Rocker's birthday. First off: hide!
J-Rock Name: hide
Real Name: Hideto Matsumoto
Birthday: December 13, 1964
Died: May 2, 1998
Other Stuff: Hide is NOT the Japanese Kurt Cobain. Let's
get that straight RIGHT NOW. Are we clear? Good. Okay
- so - hide-sama was a member of the insanely popular
J-Rock band X-Japan, which had miraculous success considering how much
they sucked (in my humble opinion, anyway). He played guitar, and
he could also sing; he had kind
of a strange voice, but it really grows on you. While he was
playing with X-Japan, he also did some independent work with a band called
Spread Beaver, and that work was
very popular. Then X-Japan split up in 1998, and hide-sama killed
himself that May, which sucks. Damnit, he was cool, and he wrote
spiffy songs like Pink Spider and Rocket
Dive, and he was cute without being femme-y or otherworldly like Dir
en grey. *sniffle* He didn't even leave a note or anything.
Okay, now for a happier topic - Gackt!
Name: Camui Gackt
Birthday: July 4th, possibly 1964 (at times he's claimed to be
several hundred years old... o.O)
Height: 178 cm
Weight: 58 kg (Note: He has roughly the same bodily
proportions as my German teacher - talk about freaky. O.o)
Stuff: Ah, Gackt-sama - the gorgeous ex-vocalist of Malice Mizer...
Sexy voice, sexy rest of self, and sexy air of mystery. He plays
piano, and he used to play several wind/
brass instruments, too, but I think he had to stop. Um - he doesn't
like sweet foods... Okay, so I'm severely undereducated in J-Rock
matters, so sue me.
Last but they better NOT be least, we'll have all the members of Dir en grey in a row!
J-Rock Name: Kyo
Real Name: Tooru Niimura (Dieudes! He has the same
name as Kamui's mother! *pause* Oro... @.@)
Birthday: February 16, 1976
Height: 160 cm (He's so little and cute! Awwwwwww!
No wonder he felt compelled to get seven facial piercings.)
Position: Top. I'm KIDDING, I don't know about Kyo-san's
sex life, he's the vocalist.
Stuff: He wants to be a bakemono (a ghost), so he wears freak-ass
makeup and clothing. He's more like an oni (demon) if you ask me...
He writes all the lyrics for the songs,
and - well - let's just say he's got a very distinctive singing style.
You know how people who are possessed by demons make strange noises?
Yeah... kinda like that. He can
sing regularly, too, though. (Thank God.) He hasn't had
any formal vocal training, which is kind of obvious, but I think he does
a good job anyway. Oh, and he likes anime -
don't think he's an otaku, though... He also sleeps a lot, and
he likes to lie in interviews. ^.^; Chotto hen no ne?
(Like it wasn't obvious to begin with.)
J-Rock Name: Kaoru
Real Name: Kaoru Niikura
Birthday: February 17, 1974
Height: 170 cm
Position: Lead guitarist
Stuff: Kaoru-san is kind of like an unofficial leader to Dir
en grey, because he's the oldest and most responsible. He usually
writes most of DEG's hard-rock songs, but then he
also perpetrated Taiyou no Ao. He likes anime and manga, which
is cool - something in common! Oh, and he likes getting useful stuff
from his fans in the mail - like underwear.
Apparently he doesn't have time to go underwear shopping. ^.^;
He was a big hide/X-Japan fan, apparently that's why he plays guitar.
Oh, and he smokes... ;.; I know it's
not as big a deal in Japan as it is in America, but it still makes
me all sad!
J-Rock Name: Die
Real Name: Daisuki Ando
Birthday: December 20, 1974
Height: 175 cm (Estimating - the site I'm looking at gives
a range of 165-178 cm... @.@)
Position: Other guitarist
Stuff: He plays acoustic guitar as well as electric guitar -
that's pretty spiffy. He usually wears either military-ish outfits
or big heavy outfits that completely cover him. He doesn't
like much seafood, he prefers Western food, especially Italian; Ryouko-san
has informed me that he's not eating enough lately, so I think I'll just
have to go over to Japan and force-
feed him a big plate of spaghetti. ^.^ Yeah - anyway...
He used to do kendo, but I think he's too busy playing now... too bad...
He's also kind of the prankster of Dir en grey,
he likes joking around and teasing Shin-chan. He smokes, too...
damnit...
J-Rock Name: Shinya
Real Name: Shinya Terachi
Birthday: February 24, 1978
Height: 170 cm
Position: Drummer
Stuff: Shin-chan is the youngest and quietest member of Dir en
grey - he hardly says anything, even to other members, it seems.
^.^;;; Oh, and he doesn't smoke! Yay! Other
than that - all we know is that he got a vacuum cleaner from a fan...
useful, huh? *sigh* We need to feed this boy, I don't know
how he manages to play drums when he's got
arms like toothpicks...
J-Rock Name: Toshiya
Real Name: Toshimasa Hara
Birthday: March 31, 1977
Height: 178 cm
Position: Bassist
Stuff: Everyone says Shin-chan is the femmiest member of Dir
en grey, but my vote goes to Totchi! Ever seen the Dir en grey postcard
book? In that one, Shinya wears pants and
takes off his shirt (*drools*), but Totchi's wandering around in a
slip... yeah, I'd say Totchi's femmier. *coughs* Anyway - Toshiya's
an otaku, which is pretty spiffy, ne? He
gets some of his costume ideas from anime magazines. And he smokes,
too... *sniffle* I think Dir en grey needs to meet some of
my relatives who smoke - that might get them
to quit. (Dir en grey, that is - there's no hope for my relatives.)
Most
of the Dir en grey information was borrowed from poison
, and everything else I just sort of - gathered as I went along.
I have a lousy memory, okay?
Well,
that's all! *bows* Thanks for visiting, mina-san, I really
appreciate it!
