Old news

From December 2002. A standard month of events.

12/29/02 I added a Pen Thought to the Pen Penny section. I also moved one to Previous Pennys.

12/27/02 Sorry, I've been busy the past couple of days and haven't done any work for the site. Today I added a review for the fifth GTO volume to Other Reviews.

12/21/02 I added a review for the fourth GTO volume to Other Reviews.

12/20/02 I added the Pen Thought I promised to the Pen Penny section. I also moved one to Previous Pennys. I moved the rest of November updates to Old News.

12/19/02 I've been meaning to update, really. I've just been sick and then Angelfire was messing up and such. Well... enough excuses. I finally got an image for Virus up in the review section. Sadly, that's all I'm updating. I ordered a Berserk game for the ol' Dreamcast and should be getting it in the near future. Tomorrow, I'll put up a Pen Penny and some other things but it's late now and I don't feel like writing the code. Sorry.

12/13/02 After some rumors, it has now been officially announced that a sequel to Ghost in the Shell is being made. It will apparently be a love story and more erotic.

12/11/02 In an interview it was announced Trigun and Trigun Maximum mangas will be translated into English although no date or publisher was revealed.

12/9/02 I was unable to log in yesterday and update, but today I put up reviews for the third volume of GTO and the second volume of X the series up in Other Reviews.

And GUESS WHAT? Remember a short while ago how I addressed the sites going away and said Eva wasn't dead? It seems I was correct (point and laugh at other sites)! Newtype Magazine of Japan has revealed some of the first details concerning Gainax's so-called "Renewal of Evangelion" project. It is a marketing blitz to get more money out of it. In Japan the series will be released on DVD for the third time with remastered audio, a new collection of UFO catcher dolls, another series of action figures, another CD with even more remixes, and two versions of a sequel to the Girlfriend of Steel game that was originally released on PC and Playstation several years ago. The DVDs, CD, dolls, figures, and game will almost definitely be able to be purchased elsewhere through import on various websites or anime stores. Whether or not the game will be translated and released in English is yet to be seen. Hopefully, due to Eva's success in America and other places they will.

12/4/02 Cartoon Network has acquired rights to broadcast several new anime. This includes Lupin the III series, Reign, and the only one not confirmed beforehand and quite a surprise... Trigun. Yes, although last year Pioneer Entertainment said it was unlikely Trigun would air on Cartoon Network because of all the gunplay, it seems to have found a place as a result of the Adult Swim expansion coming up early next year. Lupin will begin airing Monday-Thursday at 12 midnight (ET, PT), beginning Monday, January 13. The others air dates and times have not yet been announced.

12/3/02 I added a Pen Thought to the Pen Penny section. I also moved one to Previous Pennys.

In other anime news both Bandai and FUNimation have recently made support groups for anime clubs, in which the clubs would receive various items. The Japanese DVD release of Spirited Away has a reddish tint and many are filing lawsuits against Walt Disney Japan asking for replacement DVDs and about $80 in damages. Also, Akira Toriyama, maker of Dragonball and Dragonball Z will be visiting America for the first time to discuss anime and manga Friday in New York. Note: I put this big anime update in an experiment of "expanding" to more anime, that is also the topic of the new Poll.

12/2/02 An advisory part of the Japanese Ministry of Education and Science recently released an announcement for plans to promote international awareness and recognition of modern Japanese art in forms including manga, anime and movies. The expected plan will support and promote manga and anime internationally from 2003 through 2008

12/1/02 I moved most of the posts from November into Old News.
