Harper/Collins has announced the American release of a book titled Japanese Comickers. The book is an overview of current work by 14 promising comic, anime and manga artists.
Several new anime trailers were released: Sonic X, Human Scramble, Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok, D.N.Angel, and Kaleidostar.
The Renewal of Evangelion site is up and running. It shows the covers of the new CD coming out and the "Evangelion Unit 1 Test-Type" DVD. Also if you search the Gainax website you can find some pics from Girlfriend of Steel 2. To find it go to the news section and scroll down until you see a picture of Kawrou, Shinji, Asuka, and Rei. Click on the text link next to it and it'll take you there. It will apparently be released in Japan on May 16th. It also apparently takes place in the "other world" from the 26th episode.
The following are being released on Region 1 DVD this Tuesday: Argentosoma Vol. 2, Betterman Vol. 6, Dai-Guard Vol. 5, Devil Lady Vol. 3: The Strengthening, G-Taste Vol. 2: Heat Wave, and Ronin Warriors OVA Vol. 1.
The Spirited Away DVD will not be delayed, and will be released on April 15th.

The Cowboy Bebop movie sees limited release this Friday, April 4th. Also, while there are no plans for more Cowboy Bebop, Watanabe said that Spike's adventures "will probably continue at some time in the future, although I'm not sure in what form."

The Big Apple Anime Fest has announced a nation wide voice acting contest called "Anime Idol." Contestants will be invited to audition for an part in an Anime film, with their performance judged by professionals from the Anime industry. The Big Apple Anime Fest (BAAF) today announced the "Big Apple Anime Fest 'Anime Idol' Voice Acting Contest," a nation-wide search for new voice talents looking to break into the highly competitive world of English language anime voice acting. The winners of four regional contests will be invited to compete in the finals, to be held at BAAF 2003 in Times Square, New York City, on Sunday, August 31, 2003. Judges will include leading directors and producers of Japanese anime attending BAAF 2003 as Guests of Honor, as well as professional voice actors currently active in the field.
Preliminary auditions will be held at Anime Boston, Anime Central, Otakon, and at BAAF itself. Three regional finalists will be selected from each regional site to advance to the semi-final and final rounds in New York over Labor Day Weekend. The three winners of each regional audition will receive weekend passes to BAAF 2003 and the chance to compete for the Grand Prize.

It is rumored and possible that successful box office totals of the Spirited Away re-release could result in a delay of the April 15th domestic DVD release.

The Scrapped Princess and Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World TV series will premier on April 8th. The Hot Man anime TV series will debut on April 10th. Shiozaki Yuuji's manga Ikki Tousen will become an anime TV series this July. Groover has announced that the 2001 Hentai PC game Green Green, recently adapted into a mainstream anime OAV, will premier as an anime TV series in July.
From Megacon: Aura Battler Dunbine is getting a dub, apparently at the request of Carl Macek, so production for that may be a bit further off than original anticipated. Saint Seiya's release is looking to tentatively be between five to six episodes a disc. The Lady Death animated movie is being digitally animated by a Korean studio. The film is intentionally not being produced in "anime style" in order to appeal to a broader, mainstream audience than just anime fans. The film will run between 72-78 minutes and be released straight to home video later this year. The voice cast has not been chosen yet, but will include AD Vision regular voice actors and outside talent.
Several pieces of information from Central Park Media. Alien 9 will be all on one DVD. Animation Runner Kuromi looks to be one episode per disc, with just the first one listed (runtime 40 minutes). Cat Soup is planned for a fall release. A DNA2 box set is due in the fall for $120. Gall Force: Earth Chapter appears to be licensed with all 156 minutes worth on two discs due out in the winter of 2004. Hades Project Zeorymer gets a re-release by CPM with a $19.99 price point but still with two volumes. Humanoid is planned for a winter 2003 release. Iczer 3 is planned for a winter 2003 release as a part of the Authentic Anime line, which means no dub. Legend of the Dragon Kings will have two more volumes come out this year. Machine Robo will see 10 episodes released on two separate discs as part of the Authentic Anime line. The final arc of Utena has all the covers shown plus a box set, with the final volumes all coming out very fast, series due to end this fall. Spirit Warrior (aka Peacock King apparently) has two volumes due out this year.
