According to Ain't It Cool News, Porco Rosso, Nausicaa, and an as yet undetermined Studio Ghibli film will make up the second wave of American Ghibli DVD releases to be available in stores before the end of the year. If this is indeed true, Nausicaa will be the first Ghibli movie released on DVD outside Japan before its Japanese DVD release.

Pioneer has officially alerted retailers that their distribution license to Dragonball Z will expire on August 31st. Anime News Network has learned that contrary to news reported yesterday, the Leiji Matsumoto/Daft Punk anime movie Interstella5555 will not be screened at the 56th Annual Cannes Film Festival, per se. The short film will screen at 35th Annual Quinzaine des Realisateurs (Director's Fortnight) Film Festival, which is an independent film festival held simultaneously with the Cannes Film Festival.

Cartoon Network will begin airing the Rurouni Kenshin Kyoto Arc on Monday June 9th, starting with the first episode, "The Strongest Opponent From the Past: Merciless Fangs Strike." The Kyoto Arc is much more violent and considered by many to be the best portion of the series, however with the increase in violence there will undoubtedly be a large increase in editing.

CW films has announced plans to release a DVD single for the Makoto Shinkai produced anime music video Egao ("Smiling Face"), a 2:20 music video for vocalist Iwasaki Hiromi's theme song to the Japanese TV program Minna no Uta. The Egao DVD will include 3 versions of the Egao music video along with a "making of" segment and staff interviews.

According to The Magic Box, Japanese video game news magazine Dorimaga has reported that Capcom has plans to develop a new game in the Street Fighter 2 series to celebrate the franchise's 15th anniversary. Reportedly the game will be a sequel to Street Fighter 2 instead of Street Fighter 3 so that it can use the "more realistic" Street Fighter 2 character design style rather than Street Fighter 3's "cartoony" style. The game will be set between the events of Street Fighter 2 and Street Fighter 3.
