10/17/04 Yes I am alive, and to prove it I updated with a Pen Thought to the Pen Penny section. I also moved an old one to Previous Pennys.

Tokyo Tribes creator Santa Inoue will make an appearance on an upcoming episode of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition which will air on October 17th.

Montreal's Festival Nouveau Cinema will be screening Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence and the 30-minute short version of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children in Japanese with English subtitles. The festival runs from October 14th to 24th.

The Waterloo Festival for Animated Cinema, held in Waterloo, Ontario will be showing the Canadian premiere of the Appleseed movie, on October 27th and Katsuhiro Otomo's Steamboy on the 28th.

On the BookScan list of graphic novels sold in bookstores for the week ending October 10th, 45 out of the top 50 titles were manga. Fruits Basket GN 5 once again topped the list, with Rurouni Kenshin GN 7, Bleach GN 3, and Hellsing GN 4 rounding out the top 5.

According to ICv2 News, The Anime Network has just enlarged its reach in Southern California thanks to an agreement with cable giant Adelphia Communications, which reaches an estimated 1.2 million Southern California households. The Anime Network, which claims to be the "nation's number one video on demand offering," will become a part of Adelphia On Demand later this year.

Anime on DVD has reported that Bandai has apparently begun performing exchanges for US customers who have experienced DTS audio issues with Stand Alone Complex DVD 1.

CNN has reported that Shueisha Inc. will suspend printing "Kuni ga Moeru" (The Country is Burning) in its Weekly Young Jump magazine due to protests over its characterization of the 1937 "Rape of Nanjing." A Shueisha spokesman was quoted in the article as saying that the serialized manga will be suspended "for the time being," and that there are plans to change or remove parts of the comic when it is eventually released in collected form.



10/11/04 Apparently, the Platinum re-release of Evangelion, is in fact, Renewal of Evangelion, that was released in Japan.

According to Shin Takahashi's site, a live action Saikano movie starring Aki Maeda and two new OAVs are scheduled for release in 2005.

Ultimate Disney reports that Disney's DVD release of My Neighbor Totoro, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and Porco Rosso have been relisted for a February 22nd, 2005 release.

Digital Manga has announced three new manga titles: Tenka Musou, Cafe Kichijouji de, and Seiyou Kotto Yougashiten.

ICv2 reports that Cartoon Network will broadcast the 52-epsiode Zatch Bell anime series, set to debut during the Spring 2005 season.



10/6/04 According to ICv2 News, next spring the Cartoon Network will begin airing 52 episodes of the Konjiki no Gash Bell!! anime TV series, under the American name "Zatch Bell."

Del Rey Manga has announced its acquisition of translating rights to two more manga series: Kio Shimoku's Genshiken: The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture and Tomoko Ninomiya's Nodame Cantabile.

Starting at midnight on October 5 (ET) G4/Tech TV will begin its broadcast of the R.O.D. the TV series by airing two episodes back-to-back (then repeating them at 3am ET).




10/4/04 Satellite TV Network WOWOW has announced that Girls Bravo Second Season will debut in January 2005.

The rumor that Case Closed will cease airing has been debunked by a post in the Cartoon Network forums.

It was announced at Plamodel & Radiocon Show 2004 in Japan that the five-part animated short series Gundam Evolve would be continuing with sixth and seventh installments.
