Click here for extended summary Features: This movie's disc is single-sided and although has very good features, does not contain as much as Death and Rebirth. There is a Manga DVD catalogue and Manga previews. There are two other trailers that are both by Manga; one is for End of Evangelion and the other for Death and Rebirth. However, they both appeared on the Death and Rebirth disc. The commentary track continues, and as I thought the commentary of Rebirth is the same as the beginning of End of Evangelion. The commentators are Amanda Winn Lee (English language director and voice of Rei), Jason C. Lee (co-producer), and Taliesin Jaffe (anime enthusiast). As they themselves put it Taliesin will be serious, Jason will be superficial, and Amanda will be bubbly in the commentary. The commentary track is played on the dubbed version. Once again, the menu is interesting with many things happening as it loops. Final Verdict: Needless to say I liked the movie, so see it. Just like Death and Rebirth, the menu is definitely among the best out there and is great to just watch the loop. The same voice actors from Death and Rebirth are still there, meaning several voice actors are different from the series including those for Fuyutsuki, Maya, and Hyuga. Once again, the others while maybe the same sometimes sound off because the series was dubbed in 1999 and it'd be hard to go back and get exactly the same voice. Just as with Death and Rebirth the commentary is fairly good; even if the beginning is the same as the commentary on Rebirth, as some parts are funny and Taliesin talks about interesting references to mythology and symbolism. Despite a review saying that Manga made Rebirth just the beginning of End of Eva is proven wrong with the release of End of Evangelion, there is at least one change in music. There are some problems with the DVD not playing the entire movie on all platforms, despite this it is recommended to see it if you have not even if you have to go to someone's place who you do not particularly like just to find a DVD player that plays all of it. |
